“I was thinking I would work a few more months, add to the money the Blackwood already gave us. That way, I can buy a proper house somewhere decent and somewhere I can finally give my children the life I promised them when I left the village.”

As God’s Time finished speaking, he lowered his gaze, avoiding Xavier’s expression as anxiety crawled up his spine.

'What if he thinks I’m stalling? Or trying to dodge responsibility?' The thought burned into his mind like acid. ‘What if he believes I lied just to keep my kids away?’

But then…

Xavier smiled, the same rare, inexplicably reassuring smile.

“I understand your dilemma,” he said, nodding his head. “How about this? Once you’re feeling a bit stronger, you and your wife can go find your dream house. Pick anywhere and anywhere. I’ll pay for it upfront.”

God’s Time’s breath caught in his throat.

“But…” Xavier continued before the man could interrupt, “I’ll deduct five percent of your salary every month until you finish paying me back. No interest and no pressure.”

And then… silence.

Once again, that crushing silence fell over the couple… so thick it felt like time had stopped and the universe itself was holding its breath, like some cruel cosmic joke they couldn’t begin to understand.

It lasted for several seconds. Then Selene let out a noise… something between a gasp and a hiccup, and her body shook violently.

God’s Time, on the other hand, opened his mouth, but no words came out.

Instead, he just stared at Xavier as if he had grown a halo and wings.

Then it happened…

The couple erupted… not gently, not delicately, but with the force of a full-blown, meltdown-level emotional explosion.

Selene let out a wail so raw that if not for the soundproofed ward, a neighbor three blocks away would probably clutch her chest and say, “Someone’s winning a lottery over there.”

Tears gushed from her face like two rivers having a breakdown.

God’s Time gripped his own skull with both hands, shaking it furiously like he was trying to make sure this wasn’t a hallucination brought on by his injury.

They broke down into sobs again... raw, heaving, and chest-wracking cries that cared nothing for dignity or how you looked. It was grief, joy, relief, and disbelief all colliding in one overwhelming emotional outburst.

Their dream of owning a home had quietly died a long time ago, buried under debts, and forgotten in the endless grind.

God’s Time had chosen that name for himself because he genuinely believed in the saying, “God’s time is the best.” It was the reason he had never done anything illegal... because he trusted that when the time was right, everything would fall into place.

But with how life had unraveled for him and his wife, especially since they reached the city, that belief had withered. And he had stopped seeing the saying as faith, just a comforting fantasy that never came true.

Yet here… here someone has not just offered to resurrect that dream and fate, but is offering a lifeline to reach it without chains attached.

They dropped to their knees again before Xavier could even stop them, their hands clutched together as if in prayer, as they thanked him repeatedly, each gratitude louder and wetter than the last.

“Thank you, Master!”

“Thank you, sir!”

“May heaven build you a golden mansion in this life and the next!”

Xavier ran a hand over his face.

It was clear he was starting to lose the battle with his own patience.

He waved a hand. “Alright, alright, that’s enough. Please, I’m going to develop a headache if you both keep crying like this. I’m serious.”

But the couple didn’t stop... they couldn’t.

They wept like toddlers being handed ice cream after a lifetime of watching it melt in other people’s hands.

Finally, amidst the emotional wreckage, God’s Time raised his trembling head and said, “Master, I promise you with every drop of blood in my veins, I will never let you regret this. Never. I’ll work harder than anyone. I’ll be loyal forever, and even if a bullet comes, I’ll throw myself in the way for you without hesitation!”

Xavier, “_”

There was a long pause, then he blinked once, twice, and…

Very slowly, he rolled his eyes in exaggerated disbelief and gave God’s Time a look, like he had just suggested he would wrestle a lion before breakfast.

“First of all,” he said flatly, “you don’t need to call me Master. Xavier is fine.”

His face crumpled into exasperated disbelief.

“And secondly, you don’t need to take any bullets.”

….

  • Chapter 910 – The Patriarch’s Plan II

***** At this moment, Nico sat frozen like a statue, his mouth slightly open, and his brain buffering. Then, slowly, his eyes widened in disbelief, realization dawning on him like the sunrise after a long storm. In the following second, his lips trembled, and before he could stop himself, he blurted, “That’s… that’s so… so fucking smart!” The words slipped out of his mouth before he knew it. But in the next second… a second that felt horrifying, Nico panicked, slapping both hands over his mouth as he realized the language he had used before his father. His face even became pale as he awaited the inevitable scolding. But instead, his father did the unthinkable. He laughed. A deep, rich, and genuine laugh… rare and startling enough to make Nico blink in disbelief. “Hahaha!” The old man actually threw his head back, amusement echoing across the study like thunder rolling over calm waters.

  • Chapter 909 – The Patriarch’s Plan

*****Finished speaking excitedly, Nico couldn’t help but stare at his father as though seeing him for the first time… not as the aging patriarch of their family, but as some mythic figure cloaked in brilliance and menace, one whose true identity he had just discovered. His eyes gleamed with unrestrained admiration, reflecting the sharp light of revelation. In that moment, he looked like a man who had just discovered his lifelong hero had secretly been a chess grandmaster, puppet master, and god of strategy all rolled into one.Across the desk, the elderly man sat regal and composed, his sharp gaze shimmering with quiet triumph. The faint smirk curling his lips was pure satisfaction… an expression so smug that it could have fueled its own power plant. There wasn’t even the slightest trace of remorse or hesitation in him, hearing the harm he had caused; only the simmering pride of a man whose chaos had unfolded exactly as intended.“So…” the old man

  • Chapter 908 – Nico and His Father’s Excitement

*****Upon hearing his father’s question, Nico, whose entire being was screaming, “Please let me sleep,” managed a sluggish nod. Then, with his body feeling like it was made of concrete, he moved toward his father, each step heavier than the last. His steps were heavy, his movements sluggish and drained, as though the air around him had turned dense… until at last, he slumped into the chair opposite the old man with a muffled groan.Earlier that day, after the old man had dismissed the meeting, everyone else in the mansion had gone straight to bed… his wife, his children, and even the maids had vanished into the quiet of their rooms. But Nico? He hadn’t been so fortunate.Barely two hours into what might have been his first real sleep in more than a day, one of his father’s servants came pounding on his door with the urgency of a burning house, announcing that the patriarch wanted him to get ready and come immediately.Since then, he hadn’t had a single moment to breathe, let a

  • Chapter 907 – The Oriens’ Estate

*****Still in the study.Although the earlier wave of unease had already disappeared as though it had never been there in the first place, the elderly patriarch remained rooted in place, his expression still grim and restless. In fact, at this moment, his brows had drawn so tightly together that it was as if they were trying to strangle each other. His fingers drummed impatiently on the armrest, the silence heavy enough to choke on.“Where could that bad omen have come from?” he muttered under his breath, his voice rough and low. “For me to feel something like that… it can’t be small. Who could the enemy be?”His mind… sharp, old, cunning, and ruthless, instantly went to work, flipping through faces like pages in a ledger. He went through every rival, every grudge, every single person and power he had ever gone against, until inevitably, his thoughts landed on one name… Grace, and by extension, her entire family. If it had been someone else who had felt such an inexplicable c

  • Chapter 906 – The Oriens Patriarch’s Unexpected Feeling or Unease

*****Before now, Xavier had been ready for a full-blown argument, for Dorothy to unleash that infamous tongue of hers… but instead, she had just… agreed. If only he knew why.She hadn’t agreed out of submission, fear, or because the pressure was too much for her to handle. It was trust… grudging and reluctant trust. Because no matter how much she rolled her eyes at Xavier, she knew he always came through for Grace. And deep down, she also knew her boss would have done the same: trusted him without question.Xavier, oblivious to the flicker of respect in her silence, let out a small sigh of relief. “Good,” he said quietly, ready to end the call. But just as he moved to hang up…“Xavier.”Her voice stopped him.It wasn’t sharp this time.It wasn’t defensive or irritated. It was… soft and earnest. He blinked, caught off guard. Dorothy had never used his name to call him before, so it wasn’t just unusual… it was downright startling. And to this, his brow furrowed slightly. “Y

  • Chapter 905 – Xavier’s Decision

*****Dorothy’s frustration poured out in a rush. “I tried explaining that the project was granted directly to my boss, and that no matter what happens to the family, they can’t take it away… but nobody’s listening! They keep accusing us of lying. They’re saying it’s impossible for a first-rank family to entrust such a massive project to a single individual!”Her words tumbled over each other now, ragged and desperate. “Even our usual partners are panicking… clients, suppliers, everyone! They’re demanding refunds, threatening lawsuits! I can’t control them anymore!”She sounded utterly defeated, her breath hitching as though she might cry, and for a long, heavy moment, Xavier said nothing. He just stood there, his eyes dark and unreadable, listening to the storm of helplessness in her voice. His own heartbeat slowed. Then, unexpectedly, his fury began to cool... not disappear, but sharpen. His breathing steadied, his shoulders dropped slightly, and a strange calm replaced the
