When the scene reformed, Azrael found himself standing in a dimly lit room.
Helene was lying on a bed, her body drenched in sweat as painful cries escaped her lips. Several women hurried around her, trying to assist with the delivery. After what felt like an eternity, a baby's cry finally echoed through the room. "It's a boy!" one of the women announced with a smile as she carefully handed the newborn to Helene before leaving the room with the others. Azrael slowly walked closer, his gaze falling on the tiny infant in his mother's arms—his younger self. For a moment, he simply stared, a strange feeling washing over him as he looked at the person he once was. Then— Bang! The door suddenly burst open. Azrael turned around and saw Severin stepping into the room. The moment Helene saw him, a warm smile appeared on her pale face. "It's a boy," she said softly. But Severin didn't react in the slightest, instead he simply stretched out his hand and in an instant, the entire room was swallowed by darkness, and a cold, ominous aura spread through the air. A pitch-black orb appeared above his palm. At its center was a single blood-red pupil. The moment Helene saw it, her expression changed completely. Panic filled her eyes as she pulled the baby closer and held him protectively. "W-What... What is that?" she asked, her voice trembling. "Please take it away. You're scaring the baby." The infant's cries only grew louder. Severin ignored her plea, his gaze fixed on the orb in his hand. "Do you know what this is?" Helene stared at him in confusion before slowly shaking her head. "This relic..." Severin continued calmly. "is precisely the reason I was in that pathetic state when you found me." A strange glint appeared in his eyes. "I nearly died trying to obtain it. Yet it refuses to reveal its name or origin. Instead, it gave me a task." His gaze shifted toward the child in her arms. "To gain your trust, obtain your Origin Essence... and make you bear a child.” He added "According to it, you possess an extremely rare constitution known as the Origin Mother Constitution. It grants a portion of your Origin Essence to the man you willingly give yourself to, fundamentally transforming his innate talent and potential. At the same time, it allows you to give birth to a child with absurdly high potential." As he spoke, Severin's gaze drifted toward the baby in her arms. "Apparently, both your constitution and your child's talent are of immense interest to it. "And with it, I'll be able to transcend my current talent, break through my shackles, and rise to the very top." Helene froze. For a moment, she could do nothing but stare at Severin, the man before her suddenly feeling like a complete stranger. "W-What...?" Her voice trembled. "What are you saying? You said you loved me..." The corners of Severin's lips curled into a faint sneer. "How else was I supposed to convince someone as naive and inexperienced as you to willingly give herself to me?" Helene's pupils shook violently. Countless memories flashed through her mind. Their first meeting. His confession. His promises. His gentle smiles. His affection. Everything. "So..." Her voice cracked. "It was all fake?" Tears slowly streamed down her cheeks. "Everything we shared... every word you said to me... was all a lie?" Severin remained silent for a moment before speaking in an indifferent tone. "You must be in a great deal of pain right now." His expression remained completely apathetic. "Don't worry. By the time I'm done, you won't remember any of it." Just then, the blood-red pupil within the pitch-black orb suddenly shifted. Its gaze locked onto the duo. More specifically—the baby in Helene's arms. A crimson light burst from the orb. Helene's expression changed drastically. Clutching her child tightly against her chest, she instinctively leaned away from the orb as far as the bed would allow. "No!" The crimson light intensified as an invisible force descended upon the room. Despite Helene's desperate efforts, the baby slowly rose from her arms and drifted toward the orb. The pitch-black orb floated silently at the center of the room, bathing everything in an eerie blood-red glow. "No! Please... give him back!” Helene screamed as she desperately reached out toward her son. Severin waved his hand and in an instant, several lightning chains materialized out of thin air and wrapped themselves around Helene's body, binding her firmly in place. "No! Let me go!" Helene screamed as she struggled desperately against the restraints. But no matter how hard she fought, the chains refused to budge. In the end, she could only watch helplessly as the orb extracted her baby's talent and potential. Azrael watched everything unfold before him, his expression growing colder and colder with each passing second. He had always hated Severin for abandoning him and his mother, for turning a blind eye to their suffering and refusing to do anything about her worsening condition. But now he knew the truth. The man was not merely responsible for ignoring them. He was the reason he had become a cripple. The reason he had endured years of ridicule, humiliation, and despair. The reason his mother had suffered for so many years before ultimately losing her life. The hatred festering within Azrael surged to an unprecedented level, so intense that even words could no longer describe it. After what felt like an eternity, the orb finally stopped siphoning the infant's potential, having drained it completely. The blood-red pupil within the pitch-black orb slowly shifted its gaze toward Helene who was still desperately struggling against the lightning chains restraining her. Then, without warning— Whoosh! The orb shot forward like a crimson streak of light. Before Helene could react, it plunged directly into the space between her brows and disappeared into her body. Just as it did, the scene shattered. Azrael's consciousness returned to his body, and the pendant in his hand suddenly cracked before crumbling into fine dust.Latest Chapter
CHP 15: Ravenheart Empire
Mason climbed onto the Rock Scaled Lizard's massive corpse and drove his flaming dagger into its forehead. After cutting deep enough, he reached into the opening and pulled out a deep brown crystal roughly the size of a fist."What's that?" Azrael asked, unable to hide his curiosity."A demon core," Edgar replied. "Only Rank Three demon beasts and above possess one."Azrael's eyes lit up with interest. "What does it do? Is it valuable?"Edgar nodded."Demon cores have countless uses. Cultivators can absorb the elemental essence stored within them to aid their cultivation but only after refining. Formation masters use them as an energy source for arrays, while blacksmiths incorporate them into weapons and equipment with elemental properties. Naturally, the stronger the demon beast, the more valuable its core.""I see." Azrael nodded thoughtfully, committing the information to memory. After storing the demon core away, Mason walked over to the group."Let's find somewhere to rest," he s

"We need a plan," Edgar said as he regrouped with the others. "The only way we're bringing this thing down is by exploiting its weak spot.""I doubt it'll just stand there and let us," Mason replied grimly."Then we'll force it to… let’s enrage it, that way we’ll have more openings."The two men turned toward Soren."And finally kill this beast," Soren added, irritation evident in his voice. This was the second time that damned tail had sent him flying. Although the injuries weren't life-threatening, the repeated impacts had left his internal organs aching, and every movement sent a dull pain coursing through his body. The dust cloud gradually settled. The Rock Scaled Lizard spotted the three of them once more. With a furious roar, it charged."Blazing Cyclone!"A massive tornado of crimson flames erupted before Mason, roaring toward the charging monster. The lizard abruptly halted. An enormous earth wall burst from the ground in front of it.**BOOM!!**The flaming cyclone slammed i

Without a moment's hesitation, he hurled the crackling orb at the beast just as it burst through the earthen dome. The sphere of lightning streaked through the air in a blinding flash. But the lizard reacted at the last possible moment. Its tail, reinforced with earth essence, whipped around and slammed into the incoming attack. **KRAAAACK!!** The impact sent the orb hurtling back toward Soren with even greater speed. Before it could cover much distance, several razor-sharp wind blades shot forward, striking the already unstable sphere. For a split second, everything went silent. Then— **BOOOOOOM!!!** The lightning orb detonated midair. The beast bore the full force of the blast. A devastating shockwave ripped through the canyon, hurling rocks, dust, and shattered debris in every direction. The massive lizard was blasted into the distance, crashing into the ground with enough force to rip a long scar through the earth. Azrael watched the exchange with undisguised

After traveling for some time, they finally arrived at the camp.Three figures immediately came into view. All of them wore the same insignia as the one embroidered on the injured man's cloak, making it easy for Azrael to guess that they were fellow mercenaries."Marcus... what happened to you?"One of them immediately rushed over when he saw Marcus's condition. It was only then that Azrael learned the mercenary's name. Throughout their journey, neither of them had bothered to ask for the other's.The remaining two quickly followed, concern evident on their faces as they inspected Marcus's condition.Marcus briefly explained what had happened after they split up and how he had been ambushed by a Four-Eyed Serpent, leaving him in his current state.Upon hearing this, one of the mercenaries rushed toward the supply tent. A short while later, he returned with a small vial and handed it to Marcus.Marcus accepted it without hesitation and immediately drank its contents. Almost instantly,

Azrith slithered off in search of prey, while Azrael headed in the opposite direction, hoping to find a way out of the forest.Time passed quietly.Azrael moved cautiously through the forest, carefully concealing his presence and avoiding every beast he encountered. Whenever he sensed a powerful aura nearby, he would immediately change direction, unwilling to take unnecessary risks.Even so, after wandering for what felt like hours, he still hadn't found a way out. He slowly opened it to see what was inside, and the moment he did, a surge of elemental essence burst out, spreading through the surrounding area.Inside the sack were two translucent fruits that glowed faintly with energy.Azrael’s eyes widened slightly. Then, almost instantly, he closed the sack.“We should leave this place quickly.”The sudden surge of elemental essence was bound to attract both humans and magical beasts.Three minutes after they left, a brown bear suddenly appeared at the scene and began sniffing around, searching for the source of the earlier surge of elemental essence. It was still looking when a green-eyed leopard emerged from the trees. The moment they noticed each other, their gazes locked, and without hesitation, they lunged at one another, breaking into a fierce fight.—-------“I think we’ve gone far enough.
