Rowan walked out of the house, taking nothing, and behind him, the predators stalked, expecting him to bleed. Margaret held Bennett's shoulder, saying soft words filled with false concern.

"He's going to come back to beg honey," she whispered, her voice firm. Though she never wanted Rowan back, but seeing him cast out gave her some cruel satisfaction. "as he always does."

But what they never knew was that Rowan was never coming back. He's gone this time around.

He stepped into the night. The air was sharp, caressing his face. Inside, something new transformed. Not the man who was humiliated by everyone, not the man who was cast out like shit by the man who was supposed to protect him, but a man who had seen the brutal side of life and walked through the storm unscathed.

So if they're expecting Rowan to break now, then they're fucking wrong.

'Tough times build hard men,' they said. Hell! It's absolutely true.

Rowan had been reforged by the time, into another man, and when the reality finally sank the next day, the world would be shocked to see how mighty the trash had become.

Earlier, he was disappointed— Disappointed at his father for ripping his skin before the predators, disappointed at Anabelle, disappointed at everyone who made him look like his existence was worthless than rag. But now, he called them stupid because they've made the worst mistake.

Rowan flagged down a taxi and stepped into it, clicking the door shut. The grizzled haired with broken teeth driver glanced at him from the rearview mirror.

"Where's your dump, boy?" His voice came coarse, flashing his teeth like he knew where exactly Rowan was going. "I know the best dive-bar in the city where you can have good fun with thick girls. But ya tipping me."

Rowan glanced at him, his expression was calm and unreadable.

"Take me to the best hotel in the city." He simply said.

The man looked at him, hesitating. Young people like him that usually move about by those hours of the night are either going to club house to have some fun with girls, but this young man had just asked for a drive to the best hotel in the city.

The driver's visualization about people who patronize places Rowan just mentioned are people that walk around with cars and he didn't see Rowan stepping out from one earlier, and the dude is way too young. But as a man that experience had taught hard lessons, he knew better than judging a book because it had a rough cover.

He looked at Rowan with new respect now. "The best is always expensive, Sire." he said. "and that's no other place but 'Velvet crest'."

Rowan gave a curt nod. He didn't even flinch.

After about 30 minutes of driving, the taxi was pulled over at a black gigantic gate. Securities in uniform approached.

"Where here, Sir." The driver announced.

One security stopped by the window. He exchanged greetings with the driver and flashed light on Rowan's face at the back seat. Rowan simply let out a faint smile.

"He's a new customer." The driver said with the tone of someone who isn't new there.

The Securities stepped back and waved the car to drive in.

Immediately they drove past those black gates, the air changed, like they've just slipped into another world. Light from metal poles cast rays everywhere, giving it a day time look. At the side, a swimming pool shimmered blue, rippling gently with the gentle air. The grand parking space extended to the end, cars of different colours and brands scattered light under the light, catching quick attention.

Rowan looked at the expensive Cars consecutively, and he suddenly had a twinge to get one ride.

"I can afford any of those cars now." He said under his breath, a light smile touching his lips.

The Taxi pulled over at a clean spot at the Grand parking space. Rowan shuffled his pants pocket and handed his last $100 note to the man.

"Keep the change." He said and stepped down while the old man started praising him for the tips.

Rowan tugged his uniform and pressed forward. At a few meters ahead, the glass and steel building of Velvet crest hotel seemed to swallow him with each steps.

His eyes widened on the colossal building... maybe fifty stories...maybe hundreds or even more..it just stretched into the sky, glittering ahead like something that dropped from another planet.

"Wow."

Her lips curled in mock amusement, "...and maybe you'll have your first child there too, because you just take on his baby sister to mess with."Rowan didn't speak. He kept glancing at his old wrist watch like a bomber expecting the detonation of a hidden bomb."Five minutes." He mumbled. The receptionist poked finger at his chest, jeering as Rowan's silence made her look like a fool. "

Ethan nodded with a smile."Please you'll give me just a few seconds to get you the access card, Sir." He said politely. Rowan nodded gently, stepping to the side. "Alright."The security reached out and tapped a button on a smart machine on a wall. The rectangular screen displayed some letters; 'printing access card' and humming through the process.Immediately the screen blinked green light, a smart slipped out from the machine. The whole process didn't take up to five seconds."Here, Sir." The security gave a gentle bow."Thanks." Rowan co

Rowan let out a bitter laugh. Not the kind that comes from pain, but that type that carried the low cackle that someone is making a big mistake."You..called me a dreamer now," Rowan started, "who was it when you complained you needed to upgrade your wardrobe. Who tutored you math when your professor was threatening you with expulsion or open your damn legs to get A. Who supported your mum, stayed with her twenty-four hours when she was in that sick bed?!"For a second. A splitting second maybe. Guilt was palpable in her expression..or maybe it was pity. The kind of pity that says;"O, boy! The boy had really suffered!" "I never begged you to do all of these things Rowan. It was your wish," Anabelle snapped, adjusting the bedsheet on her body. "You're the good guy. So you don't get to rub it on my face now like you've moved the world for me. Any other person could have done any of those things for me."Rowan smiled, disappointment heavy in his eyes. The commotion caught the attention
