The servant trembled, his hands tightening as he kept his eyes down at his feet.

His knees nearly buckled as Dareth’s blade tip pressed against the hollow of his throat. The servant swallowed, his Adam’s apple grazing the cold steel.

Blood trickled down the little cut as he closed his eyes, feeling the sting of the steel tightly pressed against his throat.

“N-no, my lord… I’ll send the invitation,” he stammered, his voice shaky as his eyes darted downward, avoiding Dareth’s burning glare.

Dareth smirked, pushing the sword back into its sheath with a deliberate slowness, as though savoring the man’s fear. “Good,” he whispered, his lips curling in satisfaction. “Tell Almond his presence is… mandatory.”

Dareth knew he was pushing it, but yet, he wanted to.

He knew it was only a matter of time before King Almond wouldn't need him anymore.

He needed to act fast before then.

The servant bolted, nearly tripping over himself as he scurried out of the chamber, the echo of his hurri

The hall was silent, but the silence was not peace. Everyone was eager, anticipating to hear the words that were going to come out of Dareth's mouth, and Rael was equally anticipating. His hand was slightly clenched on the top of his sword. Zeuxis saw reheated tension and slightly walked back, trying to avoid the bloodbath. Dareth’s lips twitched into a small smirk, though his eyes glimmered with fury. He stepped closer to Rael, their noses almost touching. “Careful with your words, Commander. Accusations without proof are nothing more than barking.”Rael’s hand pressed harder against the hilt of his sword. The scrape of steel nearly sang through the air as he half-drew the blade. His voice cracked like lightning. “Then let me prove it by cutting the truth from your throat!”“Stop!” Elder Greyworm’s voice thundered louder than both men combined. The old man’s staff slammed the ground, and an unnatural vibration spread through the marble floor. The runes carved into his staff flicker

The hall was deafening. Not a word was spoken as all the elders kept a grim look at each other. Most were eager to see the fight between the two teenagers, while some were weary and wondered how a boy who had vowed not to touch a sword had died. "What is this madness? You had him kept away for what? You killed him?" Almond barked, stamping his staff to the ground. The courtroomwent into a frenzy mode, with each elder clamoring for Real's head. Meanwhile, Dareth sat in the corner of the room with a smile on his face. Zeuxis sat right by his side beaming with a smile. "Well, I don't see a need for this!" his voice thundered through the rowdy hall. "If he is dead, then why does anyone need to cry over this?""He is the savior of this kingdom, and if he is truly dead, boy. God help us." One of the chief elders said with a sorrowful face. "Did you just call me boy?" Zeuxis said in anger, his face squeezed."Silence!" King Almond roared, banging his staff to the ground the second time.

The night air grew colder as Rael’s hand hovered near his sword. The streets were not empty, but the bustle of the city blurred into background noise. Kael’s eyes narrowed as he followed Rael’s gaze. The man tailing them wasn’t hiding well. He pulled a hood over his face, but his stride was purposeful, steady, and too deliberate for a common drunk or traveler. It was quite difficult to ignore. Kael whispered, “Who is he?”Rael didn’t look at him. “The question is—who sent him. Don't look kid, just keep walking." They kept walking, the rhythm of boots on stone echoing louder than usual in Kael’s ears. The figure kept pace, closing the gap.Kael’s pulse quickened. “We can’t just pretend we don’t see him. If he means to strike, then—”Rael cut him off, his voice low and calm. “Patience, boy. Sometimes letting the viper slither closer tells you where its den lies.”The hooded man adjusted something under his cloak, the faint glint of steel catching the torchlight. Kael’s hand itched t

Kael’s words rang out, sharp and accusing, echoing through the cold, empty corridor as if the walls themselves wanted answers. Commander Rael stopped walking. His back stiffened, his shoulders rigid like a man carrying both pride and shame at the same time. Slowly, he turned to face Kael. The torchlight along the passage threw shadows across his scarred face, deepening the lines carved by years of battles. His eyes—usually stern but composed—burned with something Kael had never seen before.“Do you really think I would waste my life lying to you?” Rael’s voice was low, almost dangerous.Kael clenched his fists. “Then explain! All this time you told me I was chosen because of my Hakana, because I was the only one who could end this bloodshed. But now you’re saying you took me in because of my father?” His voice cracked slightly. “Was this pity? Or worse—some twisted sense of loyalty to a dead man?”Rael’s hand gripped the hilt of his sword so tight the leather squeaked under his palm.

Garro looked at Dareth and back at Zeuxis who seems to be a bit tipsy. "Get him out of there!" Dareth snapped his fingers. " At once." Garro replied "Stop!" King Almond yelled, his eyes fixed on Zeuxis. " I am going to like to hear what he has to say." Everyone looked at Zeuxis again. A gentle murmur was heard with most of them arguing about what he could probably say. " I want, My father to rule in my stead." Zeuxis said laughing. A loud roar erupted with many of Dareth's men clapping for him. " Long live King Dareth!" a bald man shouted rasing his sword into the air. " Long live, King Dareth!" " Long live King Dareth!" The hall chorused. King Almond was lost. His gaze darted back and forth. He knew Dareth had planned it all. The death of Zeuxis father, his accession. He must have planned it from the beginning. He looked at Elira, the witch who probably must have seen it in his vision but the calm look on her face showed she didn't care. And Rael, he was just s
