Diego walked through the suburban streets as evening settled over the city, the neon signs of small businesses flickering to life.

This part of town was far removed from the opulence of the Vega estate—here, the buildings were older, the streets narrower, and the people moved with the wary awareness of those who'd learned to watch their backs.

He was searching for a specific address when a flash of metallic red caught his eye.

A brand new Mustang—pristine, expensive, completely out of place in this neighborhood—pulled smoothly to the curb about a block ahead.

The engine idled for a moment before shutting off, but no one emerged from the vehicle.

Diego paused, his instincts prickling. A car like that didn't belong here. It was either lost or deliberately positioned.

After a moment's consideration, he dismissed it and continued walking. He had more pressing concerns than paranoid speculation about fancy cars.
