Everyone became extremely quiet as their eyes traced the target, like they were waiting for a final judgement.

BOOM!

Everywhere suddenly vibrated with explosion as Ric’s hand cracked slightly with blood flowing from this side of his hand.

The explosion was so violent that even the horses fell sideways and the guards fell on their backs as most of them were totally burnt and some died instantly from the explosion.

“ARGHH”

Different voices echoed in the Valley as the militia opened their mouths like a fist could even enter their mouth.

Morgana gulped down a mouthful of saliva as her hands were tightly clenched on the tilt of her sword!

This was the first time in her entire life witnessing such a brutal and devastating explosion.

Ric slowly stood up and surveyed the remaining survivors as he hurriedly walked towards them and with his sword as he swung it on most of the guards.

Slash!

Bam!

Morgana recovered instantly as she unsheathed her sword instantly and pointed her sword towards the guards on the floor and she shouted instantly even before the smoke could even clear, a thunderous roar echoed from the valley.

"For Riverpark!"

The ground trembled as the vanguard charged through the valley, weapons drawn, descending upon the panicked, already injured guards like wolves into a sheepfold!

Everything was brutal and effective.

Ric stood silently as he watched everything unfold.

After roughly 5mins, the dust was settled, the militia were panting heavily with their body soaked with the blood of their enemies, they laughed loudly as they finally tasted their first efficient victory.

Their eyes turned towards Ric with awe, the respect they had towards him as risen to total worship like he was a god sent to their rescue.

A mechanical chime resounded in his mind as the screen appeared slowly.

[Emergency Quest completed: Stolen Winter ration recovered]

[Reward:A major recognition for effective takeover without any casualties. Your status has been upgraded immediately]

Ric just smiled without paying much attention.

“Pack up and let's move back to the outpost immediately” Ric ordered!

Days later!

After the previous operation, the ration was handed over to Lady Yan as daily activities continued.

A new visitor instantly appeared inside the village unannounced!

The heavy, rhythmic thud of armored boots shattered the fragile morning peace of Riverpark Village.

A dozen imperial guards marched into the central square, their spears gleaming with a cruel, polished light. At their head rode Captain Boris, a local military officer with a rough and burly frame, seated on his horse as he opened his mouth where his teeth were scattered across his mouth making his appearance look more ugly.

Without any delay, his voice vibrated loudly, “Listen well, scum!" Boris bellowed, his voice echoing off the stone walls. He unrolled a heavy parchment scroll with a cold gaze "By decree of the regional office, Riverpark Village is delinquent on its wartime levies. You owe three thousand silver pieces. Paid in full. Today. Failure to comply will be treated as open rebellion, and the penalty for treason is execution."

A collective, desperate murmur rippled through the crowd. Three thousand silver pieces? The village barely had enough grain to survive the coming weeks. To demand such a sum was not a tax, it was a death sentence.

Ric slowly walked out from his apartment, his eyes fixated on the Captain, he walked slowly and quietly towards him as his three wives came out from their respective tents to accompany him as his expression was calm, calculated with matured composure.

Captain Boris' eyes lit up instantly as his gaze fell on the three ladies, he licked his lips slowly when he scanned the women and he drooled when he saw Morgana's chest.

His lower abdomen began to rise, the three women saw everything and a look of disgust flashed past their eyes as Morgana's eyes became cold.

"Captain Boris" Ric slowly called out, his voice steady and resonant, drawing the eyes of the entire village "Riverpark Village has always paid its dues to the empire. But this demand is impossible. The winter frost ruined the harvest. If you take this silver, you leave us to starve. Let us negotiate a reasonable payment schedule.”

Boris sneered, looking down from his mount with supreme arrogance. His eyes raked over Ric, before drifting to the three women standing just a step behind him.

"Negotiate? With a weak conscript?" Boris scoffed coldly as he smiled. "Look at you, hoarding beauty while your people starve. If the village lacks the coin, perhaps we can find an alternative form of payment. Those three women behind you... hand one of them over to my personal quarters for the month, and I might just forget half the debt."

The air in the square instantly turned to ice.

Before Boris could even finish his mocking laugh, a shadow blurred across the dirt. It was Morgana. Her eyes flashed with a blinding, murderous rage. She unsheathed her sword from her slim waist as she lunged forward with terrifying, lethal speed, the tip of her sword was mere inches from splitting Boris's throat.

Ric’s hand clamped down around Morgana wrist like a vice, stopping her momentum just in the nick of time. The sheer force of her forward drive kicked up a gust of wind, her sword trembling against the sudden restriction, a mere breath away from the captain's jugular. Boris’s laugh choked in his throat, his face draining of all color as he stared at the sword that was close to sending him straight to hell!

"Let me go," Morgana shouted, her entire body tense with the urge to slaughter. "He breathes our air for one more second than he deserves."

"Stand down," Ric commanded firmly, his grip unyielding. He looked into her eyes, conveying the unspoken reality of the situation.

*A public assassination right here, right now, would play directly into the empire's hands. It wouldn't just be Boris coming for them, it would be an entire legion. RiverPark Village would be wiped from the map.*

Understanding the silent logic, but no less furious, Morgana slowly retracted her sword, though her eyes remained locked on Boris like a predator marking its prey.

Boris stumbled backward, trembling, barking orders to his guards to form a defensive perimeter, his arrogance completely shattered by the near-death experience.

"You... you will pay for this insolence!" Boris sputtered, backing his horse away. "I will give you until tomorrow morning! If the coin isn't ready, I return with fire and ropes!"

As the military detachment hastily retreated, Ric slowly turned back to his household. He looked at Lady Yan, as he asked softly, "Is it ready?"

Lady Yan nodded, a sharp, intellectual glint in her eyes despite her exhaustion.

"Every single copper, I spent sleepless nights digging through the deepest basements of the village archives, cross-referencing their grain intake with the provincial tax receipts. I’ve organized it perfectly. It isn’t just a complaint, it’s an airtight, meticulously detailed ledger of Boris’s systemic embezzlement. He has been stealing from the empire's own coffers for five years."

Ric smiled, a cold, calculating expression. "Excellent. If violence will bring the empire down on us, then we will use the empire's own laws to crush him. Kahleen, it's time for your own part.”

Kahleen stepped forward, her gentle, serene demeanor quite different from before, "The High Inspector from the capital arrived at the regional outpost this morning. My reputation for charity gives me free access to the outer courts. I will quietly slip the ledger directly into his hands, bypassing Boris’s corrupt local chain of command entirely."

"Go," Ric said, looking toward the horizon where the storm was brewing. "Let's show the captain what happens when you threaten our home!”

The map lay forgotten on the oak table, its careful lines and marked shafts abandoned for the moment. Ric’s hands never left them as he guided the three of them through the adjoining chamber. The door closed behind them with a soft, final click. Outside, the first thin light of dawn pressed against the shuttered windows, but inside the air remained warm and heavy with the scent of skin and the low crackle of the hearth that had burned steadily through the night. Kahleen’s fingers were already working at the buckles of his armor. The instant the leather came free, Morgana’s mouth found the side of his throat. Yan simply watched for a heartbeat, dark eyes bright with quiet intensity, then stepped forward and claimed his mouth in a slow, deliberate kiss that tasted of both strategy and surrender. They did not rush. They never did when it was the four of them like this. Ric’s hands moved with quiet certainty unlacing, unbuckling, sliding cloth away until three bodies pressed bar

Together with his wives he moved swiftly through the four regions, ending slavery wherever it still lingered and formally abolishing the emperor system that had bound the land for generations.Barns rose across the countryside for the secure storage of grain, while new routes along the riverbanks opened steady lines of transport. A measured tax was put in place to support a functioning administration. The Legion of Doom expanded rapidly as advanced weapons were mass-produced under Ric’s direction. Drawing on the system’s access to knowledge from his former world, he designed prototypes for future use and stationed elite legionnaires throughout the four regions to keep the peace and protect the people.Corruption was rooted out. He then informed her that the North, South, East, and West were now firmly under their control. The only territory that remained was the Central Capital. And that was where the real problem lay.The Central Capital was the heart of the Starlight Dynasty and the Emperor's primary power base.
