Chris cleared his throat gently, pulling Jasper from his spiraling thoughts. “Young Master, perhaps we should get you inside and let you rest. You’ve had a difficult day.”
Jasper looked at the two men—his attendants now, apparently—and nodded slowly, because what else could he do? He had no idea how this world worked beyond the vague recollections of a novel he’d read for escapism, no clue how to navigate the politics and dangers of a cultivation society, and no plan for how to survive the fate that awaited the Stonehart Family.
The two attendants supported him on either side as they slowly made their way out of the training arena and through the courtyard toward the Stonehart estate. Jasper’s new body felt weak and unsteady, every step requiring conscious effort, while his mind raced through everything he knew about the story he’d apparently been dropped into.
So I’m really inside Path of the Heavenly Sword Emperor. I’m the weak third son of a doomed noble family. The protagonist will soon begin his rise, and the Stonehart Family is destined to become nothing more than a stepping stone in his path.
He needed to find a way to survive the story.
He needed to—
DING! DING! DING!
A sharp, resonant sound rang inside his head like a temple bell. Jasper froze mid-step, eyes widening as a glowing blue translucent screen suddenly materialized in the air before him. Neither Chris nor Victor seemed to notice it, continuing their soft conversation as if nothing had happened.
Words began to form on the screen.
CONNECTING TO HOST…
CONNECTION SUCCESSFUL.
WELCOME, HOST.
Jasper’s heart pounded wildly against his ribs.
A system? I actually got a system?
More text appeared.
BLINDLESS SOVEREIGN SYSTEM ACTIVATED.
YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN TO BECOME THE SOVEREIGN OF ALL REALMS.
REWARDS WILL BE GRANTED BASED ON YOUR ACTIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS.
His mind went blank for a moment as the reality of it sank in—a system just like in the web novels he used to devour, a powerful cheat that could help him grow stronger and maybe, just maybe, survive the fate that awaited him. Yet the name felt strange on his tongue.
“Blindless Sovereign System…?” he whispered under his breath. Why “Blindless”?
He continued reading.
THIS IS A REWARD-BASED SYSTEM.
NO MISSIONS WILL BE ASSIGNED.
REWARDS WILL BE GRANTED WHEN THE HOST TAKES MEANINGFUL ACTIONS.
LIVE YOUR LIFE. MAKE YOUR CHOICES. GROW STRONGER.
It wasn’t a quest-driven system with an annoying voice forcing him to complete tasks or face punishment for failure. He would simply be rewarded for living and making decisions on his own terms, which was actually preferable when he thought about it—no one telling him what to do, no invisible puppet master pulling his strings.
Then new text appeared.
BEGINNER PACKAGE AVAILABLE.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO OPEN IT?
A glowing treasure chest icon materialized on the screen, and Jasper didn’t hesitate.
“Yes,” he whispered.
OPENING BEGINNER PACKAGE…
The chest burst open with radiant light, and two rewards appeared.
REWARD 1: BEGINNER CULTIVATION TECHNIQUE — SILENT RIVER BREATHING METHOD.
REWARD 2: ETERNAL GRADE BLINDFOLD — EYES OF THE VOID.
Jasper stared at the second item, brow furrowing in confusion.
A blindfold?
An image of the item floated above the text—a sleek black cloth embroidered with glowing silver runes that seemed to shift and writhe like living things. More information appeared beneath it.
[Eye of the Void]
Rank: Eternal Grade
Type: Blindfold
There was, once, a being of the Chaos Void. It had eyes, and then it did not—they were not taken from it, nor torn out, nor given. They were simply lost to Time and Space, the way all things are eventually lost to Time and Space.
Time and Space, being what they are, did not return them. Instead they made something of them. A strip of dark cloth, thin as a held breath, that does not cover the eyes so much as replace the need for them.
What the being does now, without its eyes, is not recorded. It is, perhaps, still looking.
Jasper read the description twice, then a third time, trying to parse what any of it actually meant. The lore was poetic and vaguely ominous, yet it told him nothing about what the item actually did, and he needed to know its abilities before he even considered putting it on.
He also needed to understand more about this system and how he could use it to his advantage, while the two attendants hovering at his sides were becoming a distraction he couldn’t afford.
“You two can let me go now,” he said, waving them off. “I’m good.”
Chris and Victor exchanged glances, clearly about to protest, but Jasper shot them a look before they could get a word out.
“I said I’m good, so you guys can go back. I’ll manage from here.”
He didn’t wait for their response, walking away with a purpose he didn’t entirely feel and leaving the two confused attendants behind.
They were currently at the outer edge of the estate, and Jasper had no desire to walk back inside where curious eyes might notice him talking to thin air—he really wanted to check his new system in private.
So he made his way toward the cultivation rooms, the specialized chambers where cultivators went to train and meditate because those places had high spiritual energy concentrated within their walls.
The Stonehart estate may have looked modest compared to the grand palaces of more powerful families, but they had their share of resources, and Jasper intended to use them.
He entered an empty cultivation room and sealed the door behind him, then called the system to mind. A blue screen appeared before him with the beginner rewards still displayed, and he quickly skipped past the first reward—a cultivation breathing technique he could examine later—because his attention was fixed on the second item.
The blindfold.
As he continued reading, new information unfolded before his eyes.
Abilities
First Ability — [Sight of the Formless] (Passive)
You will gain the ability to see the true nature of all things. You will see through anything—illusions, the flow of energy, and even the truth of the world.
Matter becomes suggestion. Distance becomes an opinion. Deception requires a thing to be hidden, and nothing is hidden from what has already forgotten how to look away. The wearer perceives the essence beneath form: the true shape of a creature behind its face, the pattern of an aspect behind its power, the current of energy behind every living and unliving thing.
This sight cannot be dimmed, closed, or turned aside. It is not a gift the blindfold grants. It is what the blindfold cannot stop doing.
Jasper stared at the text, mind struggling to process the implications.
So I can see anything and everything about the world?
But who did that? Who walked around wearing a blindfold that could see through everything while technically seeing nothing? And besides, knowing too much wasn’t always a good thing—Jasper had learned that the hard way in his previous life, where secrets had been used against him and knowledge had made him a target. The item was powerful, undeniably so, but he had his doubts.
Still, this was only one of three abilities.
He read on.
Second Ability — [Stillness of the Unseen] (Active)
While active, the wearer cultivates without absorbing energy from the world. Progress requires no source, no technique, no environment—only time, and the willingness to spend it.
Cost: All senses are severed while the blindfold remains worn. Sight, sound, touch, taste, smell. No pain, no warmth, no sense of one’s own body or of the passage of time. There is only the self, suspended.
The blindfold must be removed by hand to end this state. The wearer, having no senses, will not know when it is safe to do so. They will not know if they are alone. They will not know if something is already reaching for them.
Many have entered this stillness. Not all have chosen to leave it.
Jasper’s breath caught in his throat.
This meant he didn’t need to cultivate like everyone else—didn’t need to absorb spiritual energy from the environment, didn’t need rare resources or perfect conditions. He could grow stronger just by existing, by waiting, by spending time in that void of nothingness.
This blindfold was a cheat of the highest order.
But the cost…
To wear it meant cutting himself off from the entire world, completely and utterly vulnerable. No senses to warn him of danger. No way to know if an enemy was standing over him with a blade poised to strike. He would be helpless, and in a world of cultivators where strength determined everything, helplessness was a death sentence.
Not all have chosen to leave it.
The words lingered in his mind, a warning he couldn’t ignore.
Jasper stared at the blindfold’s image floating before him, the silver runes pulsing with an eerie light, and wondered what kind of person would willingly surrender everything just for power.
Then again, he’d already died once.
What else did he have to lose?

Chapter 25 Blood on the Floor
Aris looked over his new student—the one he'd chosen… or forced into becoming his disciple, depending on who was telling the story. If Jasper were the one telling it, he'd calmly explain that he'd been backed into a corner. Aris was a Spiritual Master Phase expert, while Jasper was barely in the Mortal Phase. What kind of choice was that? But there was one thing Aris didn't know. Jasper was no pushover. In his previous life, he'd been a rising actor in Hollywood. Even before the false murder accusations destroyed everything, that world had never been kind to naïve people. Backstabbing, manipulation, smiling faces hiding sharpened knives—he had survived that ruthless industry for years before it finally swallowed him whole. Now he had been thrown into an even crueler world, where cultivators could erase a person's existence with a single thought. If he wanted to survive, he needed a plan. Unfortunately, every path he considered led to the same dead end. He couldn't fight. Even if hi
Chapter 24 A New Roommate
On the restaurant's second floor, a lone guard leaned heavily against the balcony railing, staring down at the dining hall with wide, disbelieving eyes. His face had gone pale.Three assassins. Three peak Mortal Phase experts, hired specifically for this mission. Now they lay unconscious on the polished wooden floor. The man who had defeated them wasn't even breathing hard. He hadn't used a single thread of Chaos Energy. Only his bare hands and flawless movement. The guard's fingers tightened around the wooden railing until the hardwood groaned beneath his grip. This wasn't how things were supposed to happen. His young master had made it perfectly clear. Jasper Stoneheart—the third son of the Stoneheart family—was a useless waste of space with no talent, no influence, and certainly no powerful protectors. So why… why did someone like that appear at his side?A cultivator capable of defeating three peak Mortal Phase experts without even drawing on Chaos Energy wasn't someone a mid-tie

Back in the real world, however, he simply continued eating as though nothing had happened.Jasper, Chris, and Victor sat frozen across the table, not one of them touching the feast spread before them. Aris, on the other hand, ate with complete ease. Invisible wisps of gray smoke slowly seeped from his body, drifting across the polished wooden floor between tables before slipping beneath chairs and silently climbing toward the ceiling. No one noticed. The smoke gathered above the restaurant roof, twisting together until it formed the outline of a tall figure wrapped in layered robes the color of fading mist.
