Jasper sat cross-legged on the woven straw mat as the faint light from the stone chamber stretched long shadows across the walls.

Before doing anything else, he summoned the familiar blue screen. Something had been bothering him ever since he received the system. It had claimed his Mind Sea had awakened, yet his status said otherwise.

```
[The Blind Sovereign System]
Host: Jasper Stoneheart
Mind Sea Realm: None
```

Jasper frowned. "That doesn't make sense." The words [Mind Sea Realm: None] remained on the screen, refusing to change. He stared at them for several seconds before letting out a quiet sigh.

If I'm going to survive, I need to understand exactly what I'm dealing with.

In the cultivation novels he used to read, a cultivator could enter their own Mind Sea and witness it with their own eyes. Following that thought, Jasper reached out and tapped the words Mind Sea Realm.

The world disappeared. The stone chamber dissolved without warning. A heartbeat later, Jasper found himself standing inside an endless void. He instinctively tensed. Beneath his feet stretched an ocean of ink-black water that seemed to continue forever. There were no waves. No wind. Only silence.

Jasper slowly looked around. "So this… is my Mind Sea." His voice disappeared into the emptiness without an echo. The sight before him should have inspired awe. Instead, something felt wrong. There wasn't a single source of light. No stars. No moon. Nothing. Only endless darkness stretching across the calm sea.

Jasper quietly observed the empty world. Every cultivator built their future upon this place. It was the foundation of the soul. Yet his looked completely lifeless.

Then understanding struck him. "I'm a transmigrator…" His eyes narrowed. "When the original Jasper died in the arena… his Mind Sea died with him."

The calm surface beneath his feet trembled. A single ripple spread across the black water. Far below the surface, a tiny light flickered. Weak, fragile and almost impossible to notice.

The system hadn't restored the original Mind Sea. It had only repaired enough for his soul to exist inside this body. Everything else… he would have to build himself.

Jasper fell silent. Considering everything he had carried over from Earth—his memories, his regrets, his experiences—he should have possessed far more than this tiny spark. Instead, his inner world was little more than an empty shell.

Before he could think any further, the void shattered. The familiar stone walls of the cultivation room returned in an instant. Jasper blinked before letting out a slow breath. "So that's the truth…"

His gaze dropped toward the silver rune resting in his palm. The Mind Incense Rune. If he wanted to move forward, this was his next step. Without hesitation, he activated it.

A blue notification appeared.

[WARNING]

[The Host is about to unlock the Inner Mind.]

You will feel a great deal.

Jasper stared at the message. "…That's a strange warning." With a flick of his finger, he dismissed it. He straightened his back and closed his eyes. The room became completely quiet. The rune felt strangely cold in his hand.

The instant a thread of his spiritual energy touched it, silver light exploded from the rune. Jasper instinctively opened his eyes. The chamber was gone once again. But this time, there was no blue screen, no system, and no explanation only darkness and silence.

When his vision finally cleared, he found himself standing beneath a sky without stars. There was no moon. No wind. Not even the sound of his own breathing. Everything around him was perfectly still.

Then… the ground beneath his feet rippled. No.... Not the ground it was water. He was standing upon another endless sea. Unlike before, however, this ocean wasn't calm. The moment a single thought crossed Jasper's mind, the surface exploded.

Towering waves burst upward as if the sea itself had lost control. They crashed into one another with deafening force. The once peaceful ocean became a raging storm. Jasper instinctively stepped back. "What…"

Another thought flashed through his mind. The waves grew even larger. Fear, confusion and regret. Each emotion fed the storm. Then… a voice echoed across the endless sea. Ancient, heavy and also timeless.

"The mind of man… is never still."

The waves roared even higher. Within the black water, scenes from Jasper's life surfaced one after another. The cameras, the screaming reporters, his girlfriend lying motionless on the hotel floor, the hatred in everyone's eyes and the knife sinking into his chest.

Every painful memory he had buried came rushing back all at once. The storm answered each one. The waves climbed higher. Thunder shook the empty sky. The pressure became so overwhelming that Jasper could barely breathe.

Then—everything stopped. A single drop of water floated before him.

Perfectly still.

Untouched by the raging storm. Inside it stood an old man. He wore plain white robes with no ornaments or marks of status. His hair had long since turned white, yet there wasn't the slightest hint of weakness about him. A sword rested loosely in his hand.

There was no terrifying aura, no overwhelming pressure and nothing that suggested he was an unrivaled expert.

He simply stood there.

Around him, waves large enough to swallow mountains crashed endlessly across the black sea. Yet they never reached him. Not because he held them back nor because he destroyed them.

They simply couldn't disturb him. His robes remained still and his breathing never changed. It was as though the storm had accepted that he could never become part of it.

The old swordsman slowly raised his blade. Jasper instinctively held his breath. He expected a strike powerful enough to split the heavens. Instead, the old man closed his eyes.

Silence spread across the sea. Not from the outside but from him. The violent waves gradually lost their fury and the crashing water softened into gentle swells and even the thunder faded. The wind disappeared one wave after another settled until the endless sea became perfectly calm. Not a single ripple remained. The black water reflected the empty sky like polished glass.

Only then did the old swordsman open his eyes. At that moment, Jasper understood something he had never been able to grasp back on Earth.

A sword wasn't simply a weapon. It wasn't made for killing. It was intention, pure and unwavering. A blade existed to cut away hesitation. The moment doubt disappeared… the sword could no longer be stopped.

The old man swung once. There was no sound, no flash of light and no burst of power. The blade never even touched the water. Yet high above them, the dark clouds quietly split apart. One after another, stars appeared across the empty sky. The sword hadn't cut the heavens. It had cut through confusion.

The ancient voice echoed once more, softer than before. "Before the sword can cut the world… it must first cut the self."

The old swordsman slowly turned. His calm eyes met Jasper's. For a brief moment, it felt as though they were looking directly into his soul. Then everything shattered.

Jasper's body trembled violently inside the cultivation room. A surge of spiritual energy burst from within him, swirling wildly through the chamber before gradually slowing. His breathing steadied.

 Each breath became slower than the last. His heartbeat followed. The rushing thoughts inside his mind grew quieter and Slower Until… there was only stillness.

Deep within his inner world, something changed. The empty darkness shifted. A vast black sea slowly spread across the barren landscape of his consciousness. Unlike before, it didn't rage. It didn't churn. It simply existed Calm, Silent and Still.

A blue notification appeared.

[System Notification]

[Mind Sea successfully formed.]

[Current Mind Sea Realm: Still Water Realm (Deep Stage).]

Jasper slowly opened his eyes. The chamber hadn't changed. The stone walls remained as cold and silent as before. Yet everything felt different. The difference wasn't in the room. It was inside him.

As he took a slow breath, an unfamiliar calm settled over him. The noise was gone. Ever since arriving in this world, fear, anger, regret, and anxiety had lingered in the back of his mind, refusing to leave. Now… they had sunk to the bottom of his thoughts like mud settling beneath clear water.

For the first time since his transmigration, his mind was truly quiet.

Jasper lowered his gaze. Memories from Earth surfaced naturally. The blinding camera flashes, the cheers of countless fans, the bitter taste of alcohol and his girlfriend lying motionless on the hotel floor with the furious accusations and the knife his closest friend drove into his chest.

Before today, each memory had been like reopening an old wound. Now… they no longer controlled him. The pain hadn't disappeared. Neither had the memories. But they no longer dragged him under whenever they appeared. He could finally look at them without drowning in them.

A quiet smile touched his lips. "So this is what it means… The storm never disappeared. It simply stopped controlling me."

The old Jasper had lived according to his emotions. Praise made him reckless, fear made him hesitate, love blinded him and hatred consumed him.

His heart had been like a stormy sea, rising and falling every time the world threw something his way. But a cultivator couldn't afford that. A trembling hand could never hold a sword steady.

Jasper slowly exhaled. His eyes suddenly widened. Without wasting another moment, he reached into his robe and pulled out the Silent River Breathing Method. His eyes stopped on a single sentence.

"The river does not resist. The river does not chase. It flows because flowing is its natural state."

Before entering the Still Water Realm, those words had sounded like meaningless poetry. Now… they couldn't have been clearer.

The technique had never been about breathing. It had never been about forcing Qi through his body. It was teaching him to become like still water. To let the world move around him without letting it disturb his heart. Only then… could the river truly flow.

    Aris looked over his new student—the one he'd chosen… or forced into becoming his disciple, depending on who was telling the story. What kind of choice was that?But there was one thing Aris didn't know. Jasper was no pushover. In his previous life, he'd been a rising actor in Hollywood. Even before the false murder accusations destroyed everything, that world had never been kind to naïve people.
