Ravenmoor's Eastern Border Highway

The main highway leading into Ravenmoor was unrecognizable.

A long stretch of it had been shut down and cleared for what looked like a military-grade ceremony. Black limousines, armored sedans, and luxury convoys lined either side of the road. The breeze fluttered through banners held by gold-plated poles, each representing one of Ravenmoor’s oldest and wealthiest families. Armed escorts stood in perfect formation, faces stern, uniforms crisp.

The city’s elite had all gathered here today.

At the center of it stood Williams Gravesend—draped in a custom-tailored obsidian trench coat, embroidered with silver phoenix threads, his silver hair slicked back like a blade drawn for war. His piercing eyes scanned the sky with a glint of both awe and calculation.

Behind him stood several prominent figures: patriarchs, heirs, and matriarchs of the wealthiest clans in Ravenmoor. Their expressions ranged from anxious to exhilarated.

A heavy silence had settled over the area, the crowd frozen like statues.Williams Gravesend stepped forward with a slow, deliberate gait. His black shoes splashed lightly in the pool of blood as he knelt beside the lifeless form, a white sheet half-soaked in red. With a trembling hand, he pulled the sheet back. And his world stopped.“Peter...?”His voice cracked. The chill that ran through him wasn’t from the wind.It was Peter—his last protégé. His chosen successor. The future of the Gravesend name. Now reduced to a mangled corpse.“No... no no no!” Williams growled, his face twisting with rage and grief. His teeth clenched so tight the muscles in his jaw pulsed. “How could this happen... again?!”He pulled Peter’s limp body closer, the boy’s head rolling lifelessly in his arms.Just days ago, he’d buried his only son, Baron—cut down in a mysterious assassination that left more questions than answers. And now this. His last hope, gone. Snatched away before his eyes like some kind o

“Mr. Williams... you look tense,” Anthony said, flashing a grin that didn’t reach his eyes. “If you’ve got something more pressing, feel free to leave. I can handle the welcome.”Williams didn’t look at him. “Hmph. What could be more important than greeting the King of War?”His voice was smooth, polite even—but the ice underneath was impossible to miss. Both men smiled. Both hated each other’s guts. That was business.Anthony adjusted his cuffs. “Of course. It’s your company after all.”“Correct,” Williams said, turning slightly to face him. “The Gravesend Group belongs to the Gravesend family. So naturally, it falls on me to show proper respect to someone of his... caliber.”The jab landed.Anthony’s jaw twitched. He held the smile, but his silence spoke volumes.“Liar. You’re sweating because you’re about to kill someone. And I know it.”Neither man said another word. The tension between them could’ve cut glass.---Seventy-nine floors above, in the executive suite of the Gravesend

The groans of broken men filled the room.Blood pooled on the cracked tiles, and Cooper’s security team—once cocky, well-dressed enforcers—were now twisted shapes on the floor. Some coughed. One whimpered. None of them could get up.Drax wiped the back of his hand across his mouth, then spat to the side, disgusted.“They were weaker than I expected.”Jaden didn’t even look at the bodies. “It’s the countryside. You expected battlefield standards from local muscle?”Drax grunted, adjusting his coat.At the far end of the room, Cooper trembled like a leaf in a thunderstorm. His mouth opened, but nothing came out at first. He stared at his men, bloodied and broken, and finally dropped to his knees with a loud thud.“Please... I didn’t know. I swear! Spare me!”He slammed his forehead against the floor, again and again.“I swear I didn’t know who you were!”A dark patch spread across the front of his pants. The stench followed quickly.Drax winced. “That’s just nasty.”But Jaden kept walki

“Yes, Master Williams—we saw him with our own eyes,” the bruised guard stammered, blood trickling from the corner of his lip. “He’s here… he brought your young master Peter.” Williams' jaw clenched so tightly, his teeth audibly ground together. His face twisted. “He’s inside my building?” “Oh no...” Cooper gasped, a cold sweat forming at his temples. “What if—what if they cross paths with the King of War?” The thought landed like a punch to the gut. “We’d be finished,” Cooper whispered. “Dead. All of us.” Williams snapped out of it, suddenly furious. “Then what are you standing around for?! Arrest that bastard! Don’t let him take one more step!” Cooper stepped forward, smoothing his suit, then raising both hands in a calming gesture. “Master Williams, allow me,” he said confidently. “Go outside. Greet the King of War personally. Make a strong impression. I’ll handle this matter inside. You have my word.” Williams paused, uncertainty flickering behind his eyes. “You’re sure abo

Just outside the Music square. The thud-thud-thud of helicopter blades echoed across Ravenmoor’s Music Square. A gust of wind swept the plaza as the black military chopper descended. Onlookers craned their necks. Street vendors paused mid-sale. Security personnel scanned the rooftops. The helicopter doors slid open with a hiss.Clara and Hannah stepped out first, hair whipping in the wind, their eyes filled with awe. Soldiers saluted them. Every camera in the vicinity turned their way, assuming they were entourage to the man the entire city had been expecting.Jaden remained seated in the chopper.“Jaden, aren’t you coming with us?” Hannah turned back, voice barely audible over the roar.Jaden looked up slowly, calm but focused. “No. I’ve got something else to take care of.”Clara tilted her head. “You’re not joining the reception?”He smiled faintly. “I’ll catch up later. Go on.”Hannah looked as if she wanted to say more, but Clara tugged her sleeve. The two women walked into the sq
