The night wind swept past the gleaming gold-lettered sign in front of the hotel. Alexander had just steadied his motorcycle when his gaze landed on the black Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss parked by the roadside.
Globally limited to one hundred units.
He had personally selected this car and pulled many strings to get it into Aurelia’s possession. The day she got the keys, she merely said she liked it, in a light tone. But the next day, she deliberately drove it around the company building.
Alexander stared at the car, his knuckles slowly tightening. She had clearly told him she was working overtime.
So why was her car parked in front of the Stellar Grand Hotel?
A faint pressure weighed on his chest—not heavy, but stifling and sinking. He couldn’t pinpoint where the unease came from; he only felt that tonight’s wind carried an inexplicable chill.
Just as Alexander reached the entrance, Jake immediately swarmed over with a large group of people.
Each stood straight in black suits and pants, yet every single face bore the look of someone about to start a brawl.
Alexander’s brow twitched. He swept a glance over them.“Why are you dressed like this?”
Jake froze.“Boss, didn’t something go down? So the brothers all rushed over.”
Alexander looked at the crowd, a dull ache spreading in his temples.
He had indeed lived a wild life for a while when he was younger. In those days, he was full of youthful bravado, craving the brotherhood of gangsters, and many had gathered around him. Later, in high school, he grew disgusted with that bloodstained, knife-edge existence and simply walked away. But these people clung to him as if he were the only one for them, refusing to leave no matter what.
He had no choice but to take a large sum of money from his family and invest in the Stellar Grand Hotel, starting a legitimate business.
Once the hotel opened, the rules he set were simple.
No dirty business of any kind was allowed here.
Gambling, prostitution, drugs—none of it was to touch this place.
But that very move cut off the Black Dragon Gang’s source of income. That gang thrived on quick money, and being locked out of a high-end venue was like carving a chunk of flesh straight off their bodies. Over the years, the Black Dragon Gang had been trying to muscle in on his turf, throwing obstacles in his way openly and covertly. Today, they had finally come right to his doorstep.
Jake’s forehead was drenched in sweat, his voice trembling.“Boss, this is bad. The Black Dragon Gang has kidnapped our guests!”
Alexander’s eyes darkened sharply.“Who’s leading them?”
“A guy with a scar on his face. Real vicious. He’s blocking the entrance and letting nobody in.”Jake pointed toward the door.
Twenty minutes ago, chaos had already erupted at the hotel entrance.
Several thugs loitered in front of the door, blocking all the arriving guests. The man at the front had a hideous scar slashed across his face, running from his brow bone down to his chin. Standing there like a ferocious hound, he bellowed abuse.
“Scram, scram! All of you, get the hell away! Our boss has booked this Stellar Grand Hotel tonight. Not one person gets in!”
Aurelia stood on the steps in her high heels, her expression turning cold.
She had arranged this welcoming banquet for Nahir, booking the venue three months in advance, inviting many elders and business partners. Yet the moment she arrived, she found her way blocked by a bunch of worthless thugs.
Frowning, she lowered her voice.“The owner of the Stellar Grand Hotel is absolutely useless. Can’t even handle a few thugs. They’re yelling and screaming at the door. A complete joke.”
Nahir’s smile also faded. He nodded in agreement.“Exactly. Letting this kind of people in shows such poor taste.”
The scar-faced man had been busy driving people away, but when he heard those words, his gaze turned sinister.
He turned his head and looked at Aurelia. The moment his eyes fell on her, his breathing grew coarse.
She was stunning. He hadn't come across a woman of her caliber in years.
Inside the Black Dragon Gang, the rules were brutally ruthless. The strong trod on the weak to climb higher. A woman like Aurelia, in theory, was reserved only for the top four bosses—all of whom had crawled over mountains of corpses and seas of blood. Usually, he wouldn’t even dare to think of her. But today was different. She had practically delivered herself to his doorstep.
The scar-faced man grinned, his gaze clinging to Aurelia with a lecherous, vile smile.
“Men, escort this beautiful lady inside. Dare to speak ill of the Black Dragon Gang? Today I’ll make sure she learns firsthand the power of the Black Dragon Gang.”
He rubbed his hands together, his eyes sweeping over her repeatedly.“I haven’t seen such fine goods in a long time. Today, I’m in for a treat.”
That look was like sticky saliva crawling over her skin.
Aurelia turned pale, feeling a chill throughout her body, her stomach churning. Instinctively, she clutched Nahir’s arm, her fingertips trembling.
A moment ago, she had dismissed these men as ordinary street thugs. But they were from the Black Dragon Gang.
Everyone in the city knew that name.
Cross them today, and your body might be lying in front of your house tomorrow.
She was just a businesswoman, accustomed to the cutthroat rivalries of commerce—never a scene like this.
Noticing her grip tighten on his arm, Nahir puffed out his chest, seeing an opportunity to shine. He patted his own chest, his tone full of confidence.
“Aura, don’t worry. They wouldn’t dare do anything to us. After all, they’re just a small-time gang. My family is the illustrious Virel family, with an annual income of nearly ten billion. They don’t have the nerve to lay a hand on us.”
With that, he stepped forward, shielding Aurelia behind him, and raised his chin at the scar-faced man.
“Hey, who’s your leader?”
The scar-faced man looked him up and down, sneering with increasing contempt.
“Oh, what’s this? Pretty boy wants to offer himself up?”
He deliberately examined Nahir from head to toe, his eyes full of mockery.
“Look at you. Not a shred of muscle on you. A pathetic fool like you dares to step up and defend a woman? I suggest you take a piss and look at your own reflection. But your face is fair enough. Wouldn’t be bad warming my bed. Perfect timing—I’ve never tried having a couple together.”
With those words, he actually reached out to touch Nahir’s hand.
Nahir’s face turned livid. He shook him off fast, his voice rising sharply.“How dare you! Do you know who I am? I’m the heir of the Virel family!”
The scar-faced man paused for a moment, then burst out laughing.
“So that’s who it is. A little young master from a third-rate family.”
He spat on the ground, his face full of scorn.
“Our Black Dragon Gang has a real name in this whole city. Even if your family head came in person, he’d have to beg to see our boss. Who the hell do you think you are?”
He waved a hand.“Take them!”
Several thugs lunged forward immediately.
Aurelia screamed,“No! I won’t go with you!”
Nahir tried to struggle. He barely raised his fist before a punch smashed into his face. With a muffled grunt, he staggered backward and fell. Then several hands grabbed him, dragging both him and Aurelia inside by force.
One of Aurelia’s high heels came loose from her foot. Her skirt was askew, every trace of color drained from her face. She struggled and shouted, her voice turning tearful, but the guests blocked outside were all cowed into silence, and no one dared to step forward.
Amid the chaos, Alexander looked in the direction Jake was pointing. He caught the backs of Aurelia and Nahir being dragged inside.
He stopped in his tracks, his gaze turning dark in an instant.
The crowd surged with shouts and cries mingled together, as chaotic as a pot of boiling filth. Aurelia and Nahir didn’t notice that someone else had arrived outside.
Alexander stood still, the suffocating feeling in his chest surging upward.
Aurelia had told him she was working overtime tonight.
Yet here she was, not only at his hotel but also together with Nahir.
The impatient“I’m working overtime”over the phone now felt like a rusty nail suddenly driven into his heart.
Jake was frantic.“Boss, what do we do? They’ve dragged them inside!”
Alexander didn’t speak immediately. He casually tossed his helmet to someone nearby, then walked toward the door with empty hands.
His pace wasn’t fast, but it weighed heavily on people’s chests.
The scar-faced man was still directing his underlings to clear the area. He had just spat out another curse when he saw a tall, upright man stop in front of him.
Alexander lifted his eyes. His voice was flat, devoid of any inflection.
“I heard you kidnapped my guests.”

Aurelia crossed her arms, her expression hardening as her voice grew colder. “You will leave with nothing. Not one dollar, not one asset, nothing at all.”A heavy silence spread across the gym as her words settled in. Even Clara looked stunned by the blunt cruelty of the statement.Alexander stared at Aurelia, disbelief flickering briefly in his eyes before it faded.“What did you just say?” he asked quietly.Aurelia lifted her chin, completely certain of herself.“The company belongs to me. The villa belongs to me. The money belongs to me,” she said, emphasizing each point. “You walk away with nothing.”Something inside Alexander finally broke, not because of the money, but because of what her words revealed. For three years, he had given everything he had. He had poured in his time, his effort, his loyalty, his dignity, and even his future.Yet she now stood in front of him as if he had contributed nothing at all, as if he had simply been living off her generosity.A low laugh escap

Clara waved cheerfully. “Good morning, Coach.”Several nearby trainees immediately turned their attention toward them, sensing something far more interesting than routine training.Alexander rubbed his forehead. “What are you doing here?”Clara placed a hand over her chest in mock offense. “What kind of question is that?”She lifted a brand-new pair of boxing gloves with a proud smile. “I came for boxing lessons.”Alexander glanced at the gloves, then back at her, and then once more at the gloves, as if hoping they might offer a more reasonable explanation. “You don’t box.”“I can learn.”“You’ve never mentioned boxing.”“I’ve never mentioned skydiving either. That doesn’t mean I can’t try it.”The gym owner burst into laughter at her answer.Clara pointed directly at Alexander. “I specifically requested him.”“That’s true,” the owner confirmed immediately, grinning. “Our handsome new coach has become very popular.”Alexander shot him a warning look, which the owner wisely took as his
Chapter 30 —The Impossible Divorce
The rain from the previous night had stopped, but the chill it left behind still lingered in the air.Sunlight streamed through the apartment windows, casting long golden beams across the living room. From the outside, the weather looked calm and inviting, almost deceptively peaceful.Alexander felt none of it.A dull ache pulsed behind his eyes as he sat alone at the dining table. Although his clothes from the previous day had already been washed and hung to dry, the cold from walking home through the storm seemed to have settled deep into his bones.A cup of tea rested beside him, untouched and slowly losing its warmth.Across the table lay a neatly prepared document—the divorce agreement. Its pages were carefully arranged, waiting in silence, much like the man sitting in front of them.Alexander checked the time again. It was nine twenty-three.Aurelia had said nothing after receiving his message. There had been no call, no apology, and no attempt at explanation. The silence from h
Chapter 29 —The Message That Changed Everything
The taxi screeched to a halt outside the luxury hotel, its tires scraping sharply against the wet pavement. Before the driver had fully parked, Aurelia pushed the door open and stepped out into the cold night air. A gust of wind brushed against her face, but she barely noticed. Her heart was racing too fast, her thoughts too loud. The secretary’s frantic messages echoed relentlessly in her mind—thirty-nine degrees, refusing treatment, possible complications, the risk of losing consciousness. Each phrase pressed harder against her chest, urging her forward. The more she thought about it, the faster her pace became, until walking was no longer enough.By the time she reached the elevator, she was almost running. She stepped inside impatiently and pressed the button, her fingers trembling slightly. “Hurry up…” she muttered under her breath as the numbers climbed at an agonizing pace. Every passing second stretched unnaturally long, feeding her growing unease. When the elevator finally ch
Chapter 28 —The Choice She Makes Again
Aurelia frowned slightly as the phone rang again. Under normal circumstances, she disliked being interrupted during her personal time, especially on a day like this. Today was supposed to be different. Today was meant to repair what had been broken between them. She glanced at Alexander with a hint of apology before answering the call.“Hello?” she said, her tone edged with impatience. “What is it? I’m with my husband. If it’s not important, call later.”Her secretary’s anxious voice came through immediately. “President Aurelia, it’s Mr. Virel.”Aurelia’s brows drew together. “What happened?”The panic in the secretary’s voice was unmistakable. “Mr. Virel has a very high fever. The doctor measured thirty-nine degrees, but he refused treatment. He won’t take medicine, and he won’t go to the hospital.”Aurelia’s expression shifted slightly, though she said nothing. The secretary continued, growing more desperate. “We’ve tried everything. He says he’ll only cooperate if you come.”Alexan
Chapter 27 — The Ferris Wheel Promise
Morning sunlight filtered through the apartment windows, casting long golden streaks across the floor.Alexander woke before anyone else, as he always did. Years of habit had made it impossible for him to sleep in, and even after everything that had happened over the past few days, the divorce papers, the arguments, the incident at the boxing gym, and the emotional strain, his body still followed its usual routine. Almost unconsciously, he made his way into the kitchen. Before long, the apartment filled with familiar, comforting sounds. Eggs crackled in the pan as they fried, porridge bubbled steadily on the stove, and dishes clinked softly as he moved with practiced ease. The rich aroma of toasted bread spread through the air, blending with the faint fragrance of freshly sliced fruit arranged neatly on small plates. A kettle of tea steamed quietly nearby.Without realizing it, Alexander prepared everything exactly the way Aurelia liked. The awareness only struck him once he finished.
