As the Bentayga disappeared from view, Marc let out a long breath. He was clearly keeping something from Bachary—something he didn’t want to share just yet, maybe to keep him from worrying even more.

"I don't know what's going to happen... I just hope they get out of there in time."

Marc's intuition had always been sharp. And for some reason, this time, it was screaming that something bad was about to happen in Greencliff.

"I can't afford to dwell on this right now. I have to meet—"

He muttered to himself as he made his way toward the gates of The Garden Inn—a beautifully carved wooden structure that looked like something out of the medieval era, elegant and enchanting. But just as he was about to reach it, a sudden rev of an engine caught his attention.

Vroom-vroom.

Marc turned his head toward the sound, just in time to see a Huracán STJ pulling up at the edge of the road.

“Lady Harper?”

Marc frowned.

“What’s she doing here?”

Sure enough, not far from where he stood, a young woman wi

"At least there's still a month before the Ashborn launch their assault on Lanshire."Elliot spoke silently in his heart."Until then... maybe I can do everything in my power to help this young man regain his strength."He had never once doubted that the Sky Blossom Pill could cure the corrosive effects of the Death Fist slowly eating away at Marc’s body. That much was certain—Elliot was convinced of it.But the real challenge came afterward.Just because Marc might recover from such a mysterious internal wound didn’t mean he would automatically regain his cultivation energy. It didn’t work that way.Marc would need time—lots of it. At best, it would take a year. At worst? A lifetime.Expecting Marc to shoulder such a burden now wasn’t just unfair—it was cruel. After all, he was still human. There were limits even he couldn’t surpass. And yet, Elliot clenched his fists, hardening his resolve once more. It may have seemed impossible... but seeing the fire in Marc’s eyes reignite, the G

“Old man… even if the king refuses to listen to you, someone in the palace must have, right?”Marc’s voice held a note of disbelief. He was clearly stunned by the idea that Elliot’s words no longer held weight—like his opinions had been reduced to background noise.Elliot might still officially carry the title of Grand Marquis, a title one retains for life, but these days it felt meaningless. At least to the people in the palace. To them, Elliot had become a relic of the past—paranoid, broken, and mentally shaken by the death of ten thousand of his men.“No one. No one’s willing to listen to me, Marc.”The old marquis shook his head slowly, unable to hide the sadness in his expression. But it wasn’t the cold shoulders or dismissive glances that hurt him. That didn’t matter anymore.Even during his years as an active soldier—back when he was nothing more than a grunt—Elliot had always been known as someone who never gave up. That part of him hadn’t changed. What truly weighed on him no

Meanwhile, at the exact same time in Wyndham…“Dammit!”Ulrich couldn’t hide his disappointment when he saw the seal box was empty. He had thought finding it would be this simple. Clearly, he was wrong. His initial excitement was quickly crushed—there was nothing inside."That person must've stolen it."He was certain now. Whoever had forged those documents in his family’s name had to be the same person who had the seal in their possession.Ulrich didn’t care if someone stole his valuables—money, gold, whatever. But the Castellan family seal? That was something he could never accept losing. That seal was his life. His honor. His legacy. And whoever took it from him… he swore he would make them pay, even if it meant death.“Even if I have to chase them to the ends of the earth, I will.”Just as his anger boiled over, his phone suddenly chimed.Beep-beep-beep!A notification from the computer in his study had just been pushed to his phone.“The missing CCTV footage,” Ulrich muttered, a

  • Chapter 315 - The Real Reason (Part 6)

A large force of goblins from the Ashborn faction had gathered on one of the small islands closest to Lanshire. Even before any decision was made about the peace treaty, they had already begun preparing for an assault on human territory.“An attack on human lands? Can that information really be trusted?” Marc asked.Elliot nodded, arms crossed over his chest.“One hundred percent,” he said firmly. It was top-level classified intel, obtained from a trusted informant Elliot had relied on for years.Marc’s expression tensed, his jaw tightening. Now he understood why Elliot kept warning them over and over about a looming catastrophe that would strike Lanshire.“The Ashborn have had enough of quietly accepting the fate that’s been written for them,” Elliot continued.“They’re done being pawns and slaves whose lives are dictated by the Goblin King. They want to rewrite their own destiny.”But the Ashborn knew they didn’t have the strength to take on the royal goblin army—an elite force know

  • Chapter 314 - The Real Reason (Part 5)

But the story of social inequality didn’t end there.“Hundreds of years ago, during the war between the goblins and the vampires, it was the ashborn and the nightstrays who suffered the most.”Both kingdoms did recruit these groups as soldiers—but not in the way most people think of soldiers being valued or protected.“The ashborn and nightstrays were practically thrown onto the battlefield to die. Their commanders never even considered whether they’d survive or not. All that mattered was inflicting maximum damage on the enemy, even if it meant losing just as many of their own.”As if their lives held no worth, they were subjected to brutal, unforgiving military training and indoctrinated with authoritarian doctrine—taught that they must sacrifice everything, even their lives, for the sake of the king.“But the real trouble started a hundred years ago, when the peace treaty was signed.”At first glance, it seemed like peace had finally come between the two nations. For a while, Kalido

“This island.”Elliot pointed to the landmass next to Lanshire—a place he had only visited once in the past.“It’s called Kalidor. A truly beautiful place. While a small number of humans live there, the real rulers of the island are goblins and vampires.”The goblins dominated the northern region, while the vampires claimed the southern half. They rarely crossed paths unless it was for bloodshed. But don’t picture goblins as half-zombie creatures with filthy skin, mangled faces, and tattered clothes. On Kalidor, nearly all goblins lived with a high standard of living.“They have beautiful homes, livestock farms, and even luxury cars. Honestly, most of them are indistinguishable from humans—handsome, elegant, even stunning. Some of them have incredibly refined appearances.”The same went for the vampires.“And on both sides,” Elliot continued, referring to the goblins and vampires, “there’s a class divide—nobles and commoners.”Just like in human society, the noble class among goblins
