Due to the overwhelming number of messy comments, Alice couldn't read them one by one. More importantly, there was no need to do so.

With her pure and beautiful appearance and good family background, naturally, many people pursued her at school. The wealthy young masters of Nova City's affluent families, without exception, were all her ardent admirers.

However, in her eyes, these were all just frivolous playboys. From a young age, her heart had only been filled with her Joseph. Her entire youth was occupied by beautiful memories related to Joseph.

Alice opened her phone, thinking of replying in the comment section to clarify her relationship with Joseph to avoid any misunderstandings. But after thinking about it, she stopped and deleted the entire line of text she had typed.

Why should she clarify? If she deliberately clarified, would Joseph be unhappy? But if she didn't clarify, many people would be displeased, right?

However, what did other people's displeasure have to do with her? As long as Joseph was happy, that's all that mattered.

With this thought, Alice put down her phone.

"Knock, knock, knock..." There was a knocking sound from outside.

"Alice, can I have my phone back?" Joseph's voice came from outside. Only then did Alice remember that Joseph's phone was in her room.

"Ah? Right, I forgot to give you the phone," Alice looked at it, grabbed Joseph's new phone, and opened the door.

Joseph was waiting at the door.

"Joseph, this is your new phone. It used to be my spare phone. This is your old phone. I'm giving them both to you."

"Also, I registered F******k for you and added my and Grandpa's contact information."

"By the way, quite a few messages came in just now. I guess someone was looking for you. Don't worry, I didn't read the content. I know to respect your privacy," Alice handed the two phones to Joseph and explained everything carefully and patiently.

"Okay, thank you," Joseph thanked her with a smile.

"Joseph?" Alice looked at Joseph with a slightly aggrieved expression, which Joseph didn't quite understand.

"Um, what's the matter?" Joseph asked.

"Don't say thank you, okay? Why are you still so polite with me? What's mine is yours. If you want anything, just tell me."

Hearing these words, Joseph felt touched in his heart. Since his parents passed away, the grandfather and granddaughter of the Morgan family had been the kindest people to him.

He had thought he would be alone for the rest of his life, but now, having a girl who was good to him seemed not bad.

However, over the years, he had completely forgotten about others, which made him feel somewhat guilty.

"Then I won't thank you," Joseph smiled.

"Hey, you... Alright, you've been busy all day. Go take a shower and get some rest. I have classes tomorrow afternoon," Alice sighed, feeling a bit exasperated. Her Joseph was a bit too straightforward.

However, even the straightforward Joseph was adorable.

"Okay," Joseph agreed, but then thought of something.

"No, wait a moment."

"Hmm? Joseph, is there anything else?" Alice was about to close the door but was stopped by Joseph.

"What did you go downstairs to buy for me earlier?" Joseph asked curiously.

"Um..." Alice was stunned for a moment, her pretty face turning slightly red as she recalled something embarrassing.

"That... I'll go get it for you. Wait here!" Alice, with a flushed face, went back to her room and closed the door behind her.

"Why so mysterious?" Joseph became even more puzzled.

Before long, Alice's door opened again, and Alice came out holding something, but she hid it behind her back, so Joseph couldn't see what it was.

"Umm, Joseph, could you please close your eyes? Close your eyes, and I'll give you the thing," Alice's pretty face was flushed, her head slightly lowered, looking enchantingly beautiful.

"So mysterious?" Joseph was stunned again.

"Alright then, I'll close my eyes," saying this, Joseph closed his eyes.

"Don't open your eyes. Only open them after I'm back in my room," Alice reminded him again.

"Okay," Joseph could only agree.

Subsequently, Joseph felt something soft being placed in his hands.

"Okay... Okay, I didn't know about the sizes and all, so I bought two of each size for you," after saying this, Alice fled back to her room and closed the door tightly.

After Alice returned to her room, Joseph opened his eyes and discovered that he was holding several pairs of men's underwear.

"Oh... So that's what it was!" Joseph was stunned for a moment, muttering to himself. After realizing what it was, he chuckled.

Then, holding his intimate clothing, he left.

After returning to her room, Alice buried her head tightly in her pillow. It was simply embarrassing to death. It was the first time she had bought such things for a boy. She had originally wanted Joseph to buy them himself.

But then, she felt that doing this had a special meaning.

After calming her excited emotions, Alice opened her F******k chat window with Joseph.

"Umm, Joseph, I've never bought such things for anyone before. I really don't know much about it. See if you like the styles."

"Whew... I squatted outside the convenience store for twenty minutes before mustering the courage to go in!" Alice typed rapidly and sent two messages to Joseph.

"What's there to care about styles for these things? It's not like you girls!" Joseph replied with a message, accompanied by a smirking emoji.

"Ah ah ah! Joseph, you're so knowledgeable! Did you buy them for your ex-wife before?" Alice asked tentatively.

"No. She and I weren't husband and wife, not even friends."

"I won't talk to you for now. I'm going to take a shower and take care of some things," Joseph replied briefly.

With that, Joseph started checking the 99+ messages on his phone.

Upon opening them, he found that they were all from Heidi, inquiring about his whereabouts.

During these few years in the Cooper family, only Heidi treated him as a family member, although she also liked to order him around. But she sincerely considered him her brother-in-law.

Additionally, he discovered that he had dozens of missed calls. After a quick glance, except for one from Fiona, the rest were all from Heidi.

It seemed that Heidi was quite worried about him. He should call her back; otherwise, it would be too heartless to ignore her good intentions.

However, just as Joseph was about to call Heidi, Heidi's call came in. Joseph was slightly stunned and pressed the answer button.

“We still need to remain here for a while to handle a few matters. If you’re not in a hurry to return, young master, you could stay as well,” Neil Foster replied.“I won’t be staying. “If such a day truly comes, we will act according to circumstances.”“But no matter what, as long as we wait, the opportunity will present itself.”“This time, in coming here, I also hope to establish some concrete forms of cooperation with all of you.”Joseph gave a slight nod before addressing the group.“Whatever ideas you have, young general, please speak freely,” they replied in unison.“The senior scientists from the Academy have long sought to preserve the work of their lifetimes. Through Nova University, they intend to safeguard their theoretical research.”“In the time ahead, more and more of them will come to Nova City—to Nova University.”“What they bring with them will be the theoretical foundations and manufacturing methods of advanced weaponry. If these can be utilized by the Southern Frontier forces, the benefits would be immense.”Joseph rose to his feet, his tone steady. The others nodded in agreement.“In truth, I have already been working in this area.”“As for the

“The other reason—an even more important one—is for the country, and for our people.”“In these times, the righteous are cast into obscurity while swine and curs sit in the halls of power. The Central Council has fallen under the control of the three great families, and corruption runs rampant.”“And beyond that, there is the utterly disgraceful Peace Dove Project—a betrayal of the nation itself.”Dale Jimenez’s gaze darkened, his voice heavy with restrained anger.“The Peace Dove Project?”Clifford Castillo, Malcolm Sanchez, and Norman Price all froze at the unfamiliar term.Brian Adams, Joseph, and Neil Foster already knew of it—but for Clifford Castillo and the others, this was the first they had heard of such a thing.“The Peace Dove Project is exactly what it sounds like. And my master—he was killed because of it,” Joseph said quietly.“So you’re aware of it as well, young general?” Dale Jimenez looked at him, unsurprised.“For the past few years, I had lost my memory. But now… e

“Generals,” Dale Jimenez said as he stepped forward, straightening his posture in an effort to appear more composed.“General Gray, we meet again.”“I didn’t expect what you said back then to be true,” Clifford Castillo remarked, a note of surprise in his voice.“You both believed me long ago—otherwise, you wouldn’t have left so readily that day,” Dale Jimenez replied with a light cough.“You’ve got a bit of a brain on you after all,” Malcolm Sanchez added.“Gentlemen, let’s continue this inside,” Joseph said.“Let’s,” they agreed, and together they made their way in.“I thought this New Year’s Eve would be consumed entirely by work. I didn’t expect we’d still manage a proper dinner here,” Clifford Castillo said, looking at the table full of dishes with genuine surprise.“Old Castillo, it looks quite a spread—and smells even better,” Malcolm Sanchez said.“If we weren’t waiting for you two, I’d have already dug in,” Dale Jimenez chuckled foolishly.“This is all prepared by the young m

“What, was he supposed to arrive before you?” Neil Foster asked, curiosity flickering across his face.“Not exactly. We were traveling together at first, but to avoid drawing attention, we split up before entering Border Crest City.”“Still, I know he’s been drinking in nearby villages these past few days.”“At this hour, if he hasn’t shown up yet, he’s probably drunk again. I just hope it doesn’t interfere with matters,” Norman Price said with a faint sigh.By now, dusk had begun to settle. The four of them glanced outside. Apart from themselves, Dale Jimenez, Malcolm Sanchez, and Clifford Castillo had yet to arrive. Hopefully, nothing had gone wrong.“No delays, no delays—I’m here, old Gray!”At that moment, a drunken voice drifted over the courtyard wall. Joseph rode his bicycle on, and the closer he drew to his destination, the fewer people he saw.At this time of year, most had already returned home to celebrate the New Year.Neither too far nor too near, a few villages could be seen with thin curls of cooking smoke rising into the air. The rice in the fields had long been harvested; along the ridges, old oxen grazed lazily, and now and then flocks of ducks wandered about, pecking at scattered grains left behind. The journey of five or six kilometers took Joseph over an hour by bike. By a little past three in the afternoon, he arrived at the Good Fortune Farmhouse. He rode into the courtyard and had just set his bicycle aside when someone emerged from inside. Two men stepped out—it was none other than Neil Foster and Brian Adams.“Young master, you’re here,” Neil Foster said upon seeing him.“Young master, come inside,” Brian Adams added with a welcoming gesture.“You two got here early,” Joseph remarked, a touch surprised.“This is
