The next morning, Nolan woke up in a lavish bed with high-quality bed linen. The scenery surrounding him was that of a spacious and well-furnished room, with a minibar, a safe, a work desk, and a flat-screen TV.
The spacious hotel room’s design and decor was elegant, and upscale, with features like premium furnishing, luxurious touches, and fully equipped private bathroom. Yesterday hadn't been a dream, Nolan Wilton had returned to the life he had left five years ago. A life of riches and high-end luxury. Nolan climbed out of his bed, he washed up and prepared to head downstairs for breakfast when his phone suddenly beeped. There was a message. His gaze fixated on the sender's ID. [Megan Jones] ‘What does she want?’ Nolan thought. He unlocked the message and read through it. Megan Jones: You'd better sign those divorce papers, Nolan!!! Megan Jones: By the way, my dad wanted you to come over to the house for his birthday party tomorrow afternoon. Bring those divorce papers with you, and make sure to sign them, alright. It was a text message from his wife, no, rather, ex-wife, considering that Nolan had already signed the divorce papers yesterday. She wanted him to bring the divorce papers with him tomorrow afternoon during her father's birthday party. Nolan could smell something fishy, but he couldn't quite figure out what was wrong. Megan's early morning text message had spoiled Nolan's mood. He couldn't believe that he was no longer with Megan anymore. He couldn't believe that he had left her. Upon all the things he'd gone through in the hands of her family, Nolan's love for Megan had been nothing but unwavering. He was in love with her and didn't mind what others thought of him or might do to him. He still couldn't believe that simply catching her betraying their love would erase his love for her just like that. It was not like Nolan didn't love Megan anymore. In fact, he still had feelings for her and wished that everything that had happened yesterday was all but a dream. But Nolan was the type to quickly accept reality and move on. He wasn't going to keep chasing clouds in search of a silver lining. There was another message from a different sender. Chairman Warren: Good morning, young brother. I hope you slept well. If the bed in Night Shade hotel doesn't make you feel comfortable, you'd better let this big brother know. I could arrange for a reservation in a luxurious 5-star hotel suite. Just give me a call, I would be very happy to help you. Then he ended the message with a funny face emoji, waving at Nolan with a dazzling smile. Nolan laughed softly. Who knew millionaires could be this cheerful and very funny at times. The way they often discussed business and money, it was as if they didn't have a normal life behind all those millions of dollars and contract papers. Nolan decided to compose a short response to chairman Warren's message. Satisfied with the content of his sentence, he clicked send. Nolan: I slept very well, thank you very much. Glancing at his phone one last time, he turned off the screen and headed out of his luxurious room. It was time to enjoy a lavish breakfast at the hotel's cafe area. The hotel's cafe area was at its peak. Foreign guests and wealthy business tycoons crowded its tables. However, Nolan was able to locate an empty table. He occupied the seat and picked up the menu. With an assessing gaze, he pondered over what to eat for breakfast. He never believed that a time would come when he would have trouble thinking about what to have for breakfast. The menu was that remarkable. The hotel had everything. Literally everything he could dream of, anything he craved for, they were all there. He just had to make the order. Nolan contemplated over ordering every single meal on the menu, but when he thought about the humiliation he had to go through yesterday evening, he decided against it. He carefully thought about what to pick, convincing himself that he could have the other for breakfast the following morning. This seemed to help and Nolan was able to eliminate a lot of exquisite meals off of his choice for a good breakfast. At the end he was down to three meals. However, before he could think about which ones to eliminate and which breakfast to pick, a shadow loomed over him. Nolan looked up only to be welcomed by two pairs of contemptuous gazes sizing him up. Suddenly, his entire existence seemed like a book that could be easily judged by looks. “Hey you! I want to sit on this seat, so scram!” A deep, hoarse voice suddenly said in a domineering tone. Nolan; “...” Nolan looked at the person who just spoke, a hint of confusion evident in his expression. “Sorry, but I’m already sitting here.” Nolan replied in a polite tone. The huge man dressed in a white expensive suit, his wide arms and broad shoulders clearly outlining under his suit. He spared Nolan a death glare and added: “Didn't you hear me just now? I said, I want to sit here, young man.” The man's blonde hair was richly kempt and nicely touched, evident of a perfect job done by a luxurious salon. There was a beautiful woman standing beside him and closely clinging onto his wide arm. “I am sorry, but I clearly said that I came here first. Which technically means that this seat belongs to me. But, I don't mind sharing.” Nolan responded. “Hmph!” The beautiful woman besides the man hissed angrily, clearly irritated. “Why don't you go find yourself another seat, young man. My boyfriend and I want to sit down over here.” Nolan shook his head, “No, not happening. You and your boyfriend should go look for another seat. This one belongs to me. But like I said earlier, I don't mind sharing.” “You want us to share the same seat with someone like you? Have you looked in the mirror lately? You'd clearly see that there is a difference between us. And look around you, you'd find out that you're the only one that doesn't look the same here. You're the anomaly, young man.” The beautiful woman said. “Someone like me?” Nolan made a mental note. By this time, their little commotion had drawn the attention of everyone inside the cafe. They stopped what they were doing and stared at them in amusement. “Look, I have been watching you stare at that menu all day. I know the meals in this cafe are very expensive. How about I give you fifty dollars for you to scram? Go get yourself something to eat from those food trucks that usually park beside the sidewalk.” Seeing the countless gazes drawn to him, the blonde-haired man dressed in a white expensive suit suddenly said. “Hahaha!” “Hahaha!” “Hehehe.” … Everyone inside the cafe broke out into laughter, they found amusement in Nolan's suffering. “That was cold. Look how poorly he's dressed. I bet he can't even afford those food trucks. Someone like him is probably some homeless piece of shit.” Someone suddenly said. Another person added, “Since when did the hotel start allowing homeless people to walk in here as freely as they please?” “I saw him pretending to be checking the menu. So he was just looking for a chance to steal our food? So disgusting.” “I want to see the manager of this place. How can they allow a food thief into this place?” Nolan was boiling in rage. He was clearly sitting on his own minding his business when those two decided to walk over to him and humiliate him in public. Now he was being called a homeless person. And from a homeless person to a food thief. What other name will they call him? Even though he was poor and homeless. What did being poor and homeless have to do, to warrant all those insults and humiliation? Was it mockery? Was it oppression and humiliation? That was the daily life of a poor man in this city. Nolan was sick and tired of all these rich people thinking so highly of themselves. He was pissed at everyone who tried so hard to trample on him like some piece of ragged doll Nolan breathed in, and exhaled loudly. He tried so hard to calm his fury. “Like I said before, this seat belongs to me and I was just about to order breakfast before you baloneys decided to interrupt.” Nolan continued, “Now if you're done masquerading? You may take your leave.” The beautiful woman standing beside the blonde-haired man suddenly said: “Hehehe! You were about to make an order? Spare me the drama, but you ain't deceiving anybody in here. We all know that you're nothing but a sorry-ass nobody who is broke and can't afford even the cheapest meal on the cafe's menu. So why don't you stop pretending to be somebody you're clearly not and let the truly rich people sit down.” “You heard her. Man-to-man, I know that you're trying to save face. But can't you see that you don't belong to this world. Someone in your class can't dream of being anywhere near us. I can make it a thousand dollars, just take it and leave this place.” The white suited man said dismissively. He stared at Nolan with utter disgust. “You’d better leave fast, you don't want to taint this place with your poverty.” The beautiful woman added. “I'd rather pass.” Nolan smiled forcefully. “You piece of shit, do you even know who my boyfriend is? If you knew, you’d crawl before his feet and beg to lick his shoes. Well let me tell you, my boyfriend is Harry Grayson, the grandson of the Grayson family. He works with the Wilton conglomerate. If you don't know, they own this hotel. What are you? A street bumpkin, a complete nobody. How dare you stand before my boyfriend and raise your shoulders?” The woman that came with the white suited man shouted. ‘The Wilton conglomerate?’ Nolan mumbled to himself. Gasps erupted inside the cafe's dining hall. Everyone present had shocked expressions twisted in their faces. “He's actually the grandson of the Grayson family? I can't believe my eyes.” Someone whispered, “That young man actually offended someone who has ties with the Wilton Family. What a pity. He’s done for it.” “I heard the Grayson family works under the Wilton Family. This is a one-sided massacre. If I were him I'd go down on my knees and beg for forgiveness.” Another person added. … Suddenly, Harry Grayson felt so powerful. He loved this feeling of being recognized by all, and being respected and praised for his family's connection. Everywhere he turned inside the cafe, it was all talk about him. Everyone was singing him praises. This disgusting good-for-nothing young man who'd seemed to spoil his mood, had proven to be useful. Even trash was useful at some point. Harry looked down at the trash young man expecting to find a look of dread, however, he was surprised to see a look of indifference. He could sense a bit of amusement in those gazes. Harry flinched instinctively; ‘Clearly this young man isn't normal. Didn't he hear what they said? I am connected to the ruthless Wilton Family. Why ain't you scared? Why aren't you crawling on your knees and begging me for forgiveness? This… Such arrogance. He thinks he is above the Wilton Family.’ “So what if you're tied to the Wilton Family? How does that change the fact that this seat belongs to me?” Nolan said in indifference. In fact, he was amused. Since this young man here had decided to play him a show, why don't he fold his arms and watch how the movie ends? “Do you even know who the Wilton Family is? If you did, you'd know not to mess with them, unless you want to end up as dead meat.” Someone muttered and the entire crowd trembled, clearly recalling their past ordeal with the dreadful and ruthless Wilton Family. Nolan just stared at them with a look of utter amusement. The ends of his lips curled up into a grin. If only they knew. If only they knew that he was the heir to that dreadful and ruthless Wilton Family, and that they had just offended such a person. How would their reaction be? Nolan could pay to see that priceless look on their faces when they finally realized who he truly was.

But Nolan wasn't the kind to find pleasure in showing off his wealth in a rather flamboyant manner. He was always like this even before he decided to take the long break. It was also the reason that incited the idea of taking a long break in the first place… not entirely, though.Nolan liked to keep a low profile. He didn't see any reasons why he should reveal his identity to the couple before him and humiliate them in public. It would only make matters worse since they won't believe him in the first place. Rather than wasting his time trying to reveal anything, Nolan leaned back on the chair and just watched them, silently.“Hehehe! You're clearly ignorant of the fact that the Wilton family wields vast amount of power and influence in this city. They could make you disappear without even trying to. That's how terrifying they are. However, you're in luck that the Wilton family cares less about a good-for-nothing trash like you. If not your entire family would've suffered darely for yo

The slender middle-aged man had met with his other friends from high society who were also wealthy businessmen like himself, but they were all giving him excuses. He clearly understood their worry. Even he wouldn't blindly invest in a crumbling company. They could lose a lot of money if they invested that much and it still falls. President Bill Hanks, from Rose Garden was his last hope. But, even that hope seemed gone now.“I am truly sorry Chairman Warren, I wish I could be of help to you at your desperate time, but I am dry at the moment.” President Bill continued, “If only you had informed me about your predicament a bit sooner, then maybe I wouldn't have spent so much money purchasing the Greenland shares.”“It's alright. You tried your best. I will keep looking. I believe that I will find someone who will help me save my company. If not, I will start selling my remaining properties and see if I can raise half the amount.” The slender middle-aged man with a few grey strands referr

But there was something missing in all those pictures. The heir of the Wilton Family was clearly missing in every photo. It was as if he'd never existed to begin with. If not for the fact that the family often made announcements or spoke in conferences concerning their heir, the clerk would've believed that he didn't exist. As if his identity had been erased or kept a secret from the outside world.Surely, there had to be a reason why the identity of such a wealthy and powerful heir was kept secret. "Boss, it is good to finally see you," A middle-aged man said addressing a young man in his late Twenties. The middle-aged man was donning a black expensive suit and exquisite leather shoes, while the young man wore casual wear—faded clothes and a pair of worn out shoes. "Good to see you too, Greg." The young man, Nolan said nonchalantly. "Did you acquire what I asked for?" Nolan suddenly asked. "Yes boss.” Greg nodded immediately. “This is a limited edition diamond necklace worth $300,000 in auction house," Greg said as he handed over a small black box containing the item, to Nolan. Nolan received the box, and opened the packaging only to be drowned by the soft gleaming gems of an intricate, elegant, and finely made diamond necklace. The diamond necklace was one out of 50 in the globe. Crafted by fine craftsmanship, the beautiful diamond necklace spoke of high class and wealth. "Very good. She will definitely like it." Nolan acknowledged. He gave the diamond necklace
