Andrea moved through the villa like a ghost, methodically stuffing his few possessions into a battered duffel. Each item—a degree, a letter, a photo—was just evidence of everything he’d lost.

All that time, all those dreams. All for Sofia.

His phone vibrated, but he ignored it, picking up the faded picture from his university graduation. Valedictorian, full scholarship, professors begging me to go abroad. Sofia said she needed me here. He gave a half-laugh, tossed the photo in the bag, and zipped it.

The front door creaked. Andrea heard voices, Sofia’s high and careful, another man’s thin and weak.

“Careful on the stairs, Nikolas. I’ll help you.” Sofia’s voice floated up, sweet as honey.

Andrea didn’t even look up as she entered, supporting Nikolas’ fragile frame. Sofia’s lips pressed together, seeing Andrea with his bag.

“Andrea,” she said, instantly chilly. “Nikolas doesn’t like hospitals. I’m letting him recover here.”

He barely spared her a glance. “Alright.”

Sofia hesitated, as if waiting for a fight. “I promised Eleni—Nikolas’ sister, my best friend—I’d take care of him while she’s overseas. You’re not going to act jealous for no reason, are you?”

“I understand,” Andrea said, folding another shirt.

Sofia’s jaw tightened. He always argued. Why was he so calm? Her gaze landed on the duffel. “Why are you packing?”

Andrea zipped a side pocket. “Just throwing out some old trash. Things I don’t need anymore.”

She eyed him, suspicious, but Nikolas leaned on her, voice weak. “Sofia, I haven’t eaten all day. The hospital food was awful…”

Sofia snapped to attention. “Andrea, make something for Nikolas. He needs real food if he’s going to get better.”

Nikolas kept packing. “I have other things to do.”

“Other things?” Sofia’s tone iced over. “What’s more important than Nikolas' health? Still mad I brought him here?”

Nikolas shrank back, voice trembling. “Sofia, please don’t argue because of me. I don’t want to cause problems in your marriage. I’ll go back to the hospital…”

Sofia glared at Andrea. “I don’t care what you think you have to do. Cook for Nikolas right now. Don’t even think about leaving until you do.”

She still thinks she controls me. Even now.

Andrea set the bag down. “Fine. I’ll cook.”

Sofia’s lips relaxed into something smug. “Good. Nikolas, sit. I’ll change and come back.”

Her heels clicked away upstairs. The second she vanished, Nikolas straightened, mask gone. “Still playing the loyal husband? You really have no spine.”

Andrea started toward the kitchen. “What do you want to eat?”

Nikolas sneered. “Drop the act. Sofia doesn’t love you. Hasn’t for a long time. Why stick around?”

Andrea pulled vegetables from the fridge. “Is that so?”

Nikolas shook his head, bitter. “You’re a joke, Andrea. Living off her money, donating blood every month like a lab rat. Don’t you have any self-respect?”

Andrea rinsed carrots. “Are you done?”

Nikolas scowled at the lack of reaction. He thrived on drama. Why wasn’t Andrea fighting back? Sofia’s footsteps sounded above. Nikokas’ eyes narrowed with sudden inspiration.

“You want proof?” Nikolas hissed, glancing at the ceiling. “Watch this.”

Andrea began chopping, movements steady.

Nikolas lunged, grabbing Andrea’s hand—the one holding the knife—and with a flick, drew the blade hard across his own palm.

“Ahhhh! I was wrong, please don’t hurt me!” Nikolas screamed, collapsing to the floor. “Please, I’m sorry! Don’t hurt me anymore!”

Blood splattered across the tile. His screams rattled the whole house, echoing up the stairs.

Sofia thundered back down, face white. “Nickolas! Oh my god—what happened?!”

Nikolas clung to her, voice tiny and terrified. “He… he cut me! I just asked for food—he snapped. Please, don’t let him hurt me!”

Sofia turned a look of pure venom on Andrea. “What did you do to him?!”

Chapter 97The following morning, the atmosphere at Whitewater was unusually calm — that deceptive calm that comes before a storm. The glass building gleamed under the sun, the interns busied themselves preparing presentations, and the aroma of fresh-brewed coffee filled the open space.Andrea and Gracie were in one of the side offices, surrounded by sketches and files. Their focus was absolute; they were finalizing the concept presentation due later that afternoon. For once, it felt like everything was in balance — productive, quiet, almost peaceful. But that peace wasn’t meant to last.Downstairs, the security guards exchanged uncertain looks as an elegantly dressed woman in a pastel coat walked through the main doors, holding a basket of lunch boxes. Her perfume lingered like an expensive warning.“I’m here to see my son-in-law, Andrea,” the woman said, smiling with forced politeness. “I brought lunch for his team. I believe kindness keeps the workplace warm, don’t you?”The recept

The evening sky had turned an ominous shade of violet by the time Mrs. Evangelia stormed into Sofia’s mansion. Her heels clicked sharply against the marble floor, each step carrying the weight of frustration and wounded pride. The servants, who knew better than to look her in the eye when she was in this mood, quickly disappeared into corners, pretending to busy themselves with meaningless chores.Sofia descended the staircase gracefully, her silk robe flowing behind her like a shadow. Her expression was calm — too calm — as she watched her mother drop her purse onto the glass table with a sharp thud.“What happened, Mother?” Sofia asked softly, though her tone carried a hint of impatience. “You look like you’re ready to declare war.”Mrs. Evangelia’s nostrils flared. “That ungrateful boy — he refused me. He didn’t even have the decency to listen properly. I went there to fix things, to remind him where he belongs, but no — he’s far too proud for that now.”Sofia’s brows arched delica

Chapter 95 The evening breeze swept across the Whitewater compound, carrying with it the hum of engines, the chatter of interns, and the faint scent of freshly cut grass. The sun dipped low, throwing streaks of amber and crimson against the glass walls. It was that hour when the noise of the day softened into whispers — when exhaustion felt almost like peace.Andrea and Gracie walked side by side through the parking lot. Gracie’s heels clicked rhythmically against the marble steps, her eyes glowing faintly under the sunset.“I just love how strong you are,” she said suddenly, her tone teasing yet sincere. “You can be cold if you want to, and I think the other interns deserve it. I don’t like them.”Andrea smiled faintly, tilting his head toward her. “You think so?”“Yes,” she replied softly. “You were calm even when everyone was staring. That takes strength.”He shrugged, his gaze drifting ahead. “Maybe I just got used to pretending I don’t hear them.”Gracie laughed quietly. “Preten

The atmosphere at Whitewater Corporation was buzzing louder than ever.By now, everyone had heard the unbelievable news — whispered from desk to desk, spreading like a digital wildfire that no one could contain.> “They say the intern—Andrea—is actually a Konstanio.”“You mean the Konstanio family? As in, the heirs to the empire?”“That’s impossible. He wears the same clothes every day.”“I don’t know, I heard Mrs. Veronica herself confirmed it.”Phones were out, messages were flying, and speculation filled every corner of the company. Yet, amid all that noise, Andrea sat silently in his corner of the intern department, pretending to type on his laptop, though his mind was far away.He could feel every pair of eyes in the room sneaking glances at him — curious, doubtful, and in some cases, resentful. He hated this. He’d known this day might come eventually, but not like this — not with rumors twisting the truth, not with everyone looking at him like some kind of exhibit.“Hey, Andrea.

Chapter 93The morning sun filtered through the tall windows of Whitewater Corporation, painting golden streaks across the pristine floors. The usually calm building hummed with tension. Every corridor seemed to buzz with whispers, and employees exchanged glances as they passed each other, their voices low and curious.Mrs. Evangelia public apology had gone viral overnight. The heavy front doors swung open, and Mrs. Evangelia walked in. Her once proud posture was gone. Her expensive handbag hung loosely on her wrist, and the dark sunglasses she wore couldn’t hide the exhaustion written all over her face. Her hair was unkempt; her lipstick smudged from the hours she’d spent trying to keep her composure in the police station. The servants who saw her enter quickly turned away, pretending to dust the furniture or polish the already spotless vases. No one dared meet her eyes.“Where’s Sofia?” she asked sharply, though her voice cracked slightly. “Hope she didn't hear about this”But before any of them could respond, a voice came from the top of the grand staircase.“I’m already here.”Sofia stood there, dressed in a sleek beige blouse and jeans, her arms crossed, her expression unreadable. Her usual glow was replaced with quiet anger and disappointment. The echo of her heels filled the house as she descended the stairs slowly, deliberately, her gaze locked o
