Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Abigail Hales Parker, a twenty five years old lady married to the first born of the Parkers; A well known and respected family, belonging to one of the Great Five Families in EastHill.

She’s an arrogant lady with rude manners and foolish in nature. Disrespectful and likely termed mannerless.

Most people refer her to the ‘Beauty without manners’. She’s a very pretty lady that indeed lacks manners.

Abigail wasn’t like that growing up, the attitude and arrogance started when everyone started hating on Lorraine and marked her as a subject of bully.

She became everyone’s favorite, even the uncle that wanted to hit her right now was among those that pampered her while growing up.

Abigail wasn’t taught any manners, she’s made to believe that she can have anything she wants, and she can do anything she wants to anybody.

Her grandfather gave her more audacity, always supporting her when she’s suppose to be corrected, always defending her where she’s supposed to be shamed and learned from.

Abigail ended up being a spoilt brat that lacks manners.

Hearing that she should apologize to her uncle for what she said, her gaze traveled around the room looking at everyone’s faces.

From where she stood she began whining hoping one of them would defend her like always or her husband would support her, “Grandpa but I did nothing wrong, I only said the truth and everyone made it seem as if I said something-“

“Apologize now Abigail or get out of my house!” Lennox affirmed once more in a firm voice, cutting Abigail off her statement.

Her lips stretched open in bewilderment, as she gaped widely at her grandpa. She scoffed angrily and proceeded to grabbing her bag.

“If you all want me out, then I’m out of here, and you all can kiss your deal with the Parker’s goodbye as from today now.” She stated in anger, grabbing her husband by the wrist and dragging the both of them out of everyone’s presence.

Lorraine from where she hid realizing they’re approaching her quickly meek out of her hiding place and pretended as if she was just coming in.

Her and Abigail eventually meet, Abigail stopped on her tracks, looking at Lorraine with her eyes filled with disdain and irritation, and Lorraine doing everything she can to avoid her toxic gaze by staring at her feet and at the ceiling.

“You!” She called in a deadly tone, leaving her husband alone and taking a slow deadly approach towards Lorraine.

Lorraine seeing her moves stepped back, she knew her cousin so well. She’s always abusive to her, and the least she wants right now is getting abused by her. She’s had enough of everything she’s facing.

“How dare you show your face here again?” She questioned, venom dripping off her words as she quickly closed the gap between her and Lorraine.

“Abigail I did nothing wrong, just leave me alone please, please be on your way with your husband.”

“Don’t you dare say my husband name in your filthy dirty mouth.” She snapped at her, her eyes brimming with spite as she glared intensely at Lorraine.

If looks could kill, Lorraine would be ten feet below by now.

“Enough Abigail, let go.” Sean commanded, grabbing his wife by hand and pulling her with him as they walk outside.

A relief sigh escaped Lorraine’s lips the moment they left. She was about going back inside the house but heard them engaged in another discussion.

So she hid back at where she was, eavesdropping on everything they’re saying.

“She’s more worse than Lorraine.” Oscar commented with an eye roll.

“I can’t believe I gave birth to her.” Royce said, more like he was talking to himself than the family.

Royce was the father of Abigail, her mother died just years after giving birth to her; she died of cancer. He showed her excess love and care, and the rest of the family showed her more.

There was nothing she lack, and yet she still disrespected them, it’s what they deserved for not bringing a child up the proper way they should have.

Abigail has never treated her father like a father ever, or the rest of the family as a family. She always treated them like all of them are all below her, that she’s the superior of them all.

“Speaking of Lorraine, her useless husband seemed to be actually useful. I still don’t know how he got those invitations.” That was Vance, changing the topic because the more they talk about Abigail’s shitty attitude towards him the more his anger to do some damages on her fuels.

“Yes, I still wonder where he got them from. And then the woman that came to deliver the invitations refer to him as Boss. I don’t trust him one bit.” Charlotte said, backing Vance up. Lorraine’s heart ached badly hearing what her mother said about her husband. She came here to see if she can change her conception about Avon.

“I don’t know if he really stole those invitations, and did everything just so he can get us to accept him and have access to our wealth. Poor Lorraine just couldn’t see the kind of man she’s married to, to see he’s only using her.” Oscar said also.

“We all know the only person that can talk some sense into Lorraine is her friend. When is Faye returning Vance?” Charlotte spoke up, asking Vance about her daughter who was in school but attending a boarding school.

She’s one of the true friends Lorraine have, she never treated Lorraine like others have always treated her. She always supported her and being there for her.

“Soon, she’s coming back probably next week or the upper.” Replied Vance, “I cant wait for her to be back, only her truly can speak some senses into Lorraine.” He added.

“I strongly concur, she might be our only hope of opening Lorraine’s eyes that the man she’s with worth nothing, there are other men out there from the Great Five Families who are ready to marry her and spend lavishly on her, a marriage that would also benefit us. Why would she be adamant about staying married with that worthless piece of human instead.” Oscar cussed horribly.

Lorraine was stupefied from where she was, her family speaking this ill about someone who just gave them an invitation to the party they were dying to attend.

She came out of where she was hiding, moving close to where everyone was seated. “Can I tell you all something?” Lorraine asked, announcing her presence that have all attention directed and focused on her. Her face gleamed with fury, making her appearance looks scary than she’s ever been.

“You all are horrible, Abigail is no better than any of you. If speaking, she learns from the best.”
