The red-haired beauty took the group into the castle and into what Nelson could only assume was the throne room. When she reached the throne, she casually sat down on it and studied the group intently. Nelson wasn’t sure if she should sit there or not, but he waited for her to speak nonetheless. When she finally did, she said, “I will ask once and only once. Pay attention or I will throw you into the lava.” She paused, giving the group a narrowed stare. She then asked, “What are you doing down in my domain?”Nelson glanced behind him at the others, but the twins were far too terrified to respond. Ket and Teasel were quiet too, though they seemed far less scared. He then looked back at the red-haired beauty. If she was the one demanding things, then it was no mistake. She was the Goddess of the Underworld. He wanted to study her more, but he realised by her growing frown she was getting impatient. “I have come here to find the

“So… is no one going to question why the Goddess of fucking DEATH just let us come and go?” Atraas asked as soon as he was no longer in sight of the woman in question. He kept his voice low enough so that the Celestial couldn’t hear him.Inleet walked next to Nelson and looked at her brother with a look of agreement. “Right!?” She said, speaking up a little louder. “What did she tell you anyway, Nelson?” She then asked.“About our mission, and that she couldn’t help us… but she is technically helping us,” he said, glancing at the Celestial. He wondered if they could read his thoughts too? Either way, he was hesitant to think of anything incriminating. Though he couldn't help but let his thoughts stray. This being was so attractive that it almost seemed a shame they could not breed.Cristial looked straight at Nelson, causing him to fluster. He hid his sudden distracted thoughts and looked

Nelson had known it wouldn’t be long before the fight started, but what he hadn’t known was just how suddenly it would. Now he sat on the ground a short distance away from the two warring beings; the Demon King and the Celestial. They had blown him backwards from a sudden blast of energy, knocking him out for a few seconds. Dazed and unsure how he got to where he was, Nelson looked at the others before remembering what he was here to do. Had he been a little more alert, maybe the sudden power from these two beings wouldn’t have surprised him this much. As Atraas came to help him up, the others joined the battle. They knew that no matter what, there was no chance of fleeing. They had to win this fight, and they had to free the Goddess. There was no way someone like this demon could take over Utopia. Nelson didn’t care for such things, but he equally didn’t care about being tossed about and treated like he was nothing. Taking Atraas by the hand and rising to his feet, Nelson watched t

Nelson could hear the fighting continuing outside of the little ball of dirt he was within. He heard yelling and shouts, but it was faint. The dirt compacted enough to dull the sounds. Teasel waited for his command. When he was done preparing his daggers, the earth returned to the ground and Nelson could stand again. “Alright, go help the others,” Nelson ordered him with a nod and a small, faint smile. He rarely considered the help of others to be anything more than something he could use, but now, there was a hint of genuine thankfulness. Teasel gave him a rather dramatic salute before darting off. Nelson was sure he could see the fae’s face for a second there, but he shook his head. He was probably imagining things. He looked around the pillar and gazed at the ongoing fight. The group was taking turns to distract the demon King, but it wasn’t going well at all. Even with Teasel’s earth magic, they were struggling to keep the King from beating them. At least Nelson was ready now.

Nelson hated the fact that no matter how often he stabbed that bastard, he still somehow got up and left while they were distracted by burying Atraas. How could the demon still be alive after all that? Had he already gained immortality from the Goddess’ life? Glancing at his companions, he wasn’t sure how much more they could survive. Teasel and Inleet were the only two that looked like they could still battle, but neither of them was that strong and grief had swept Inleet away. Ket might last for a bit, but he wasn’t sure if it would be enough. “We need to hurry,” Cristial told the group with a scowl. “I would rather have more time to mourn your friend, but if we do not go now, the balance of the world is in jeopardy.” Nelson didn’t care about that, but finally putting an end to the bastard was certainly a goal he could get behind. He didn’t think Inleet would follow him, however, so he looked to Ket. “Stay with her, let her grieve a little longer,” he told

As soon as Selina was conscious enough to walk on her own, the group headed out into the demon-infested cavern. Nelson held his breath as the ‘King’ led his new ‘slaves’ to where they needed to be. At least, that was how it should have looked to the lower-ranked demons. It all seemed fine at first. Most of them scurried away before they found the wrath of their leader, but others snarled and hissed at the group as though ready to challenge the command of rulership. Teasel stayed hidden within Nelson’s satchel. He had been clingy towards him ever since the fight with the actual demon King had been over. Inleet was seething, but she played her part in acting as the submissive slave. The Goddess had Nelson’s old hooded cloak to keep her face hidden. He wasn’t sure it would be enough, but so far, so good. The big question is, where did they go from here? They couldn’t leave the same way they had come in, but there had to be some way out of this place. Sethis and

Once he had someone check his ribs and other wounds, Nelson was bandaged and allowed to recover in one of Yukiro’s rooms. He knew the others would be alright, though he wasn’t sure about Salina and Cristial. Could the wing be regrown? Or was he now a one-winged Celestial?Nelson didn’t enjoy hanging around, not doing anything. He may have had nothing he could do, but lying around was boring. With that in mind, he wandered the halls with no argument from the guards dotted around here and there. He knew if he caused trouble, they wouldn’t go easy on him, but it made him wonder if he could sneak something of value into his pockets. He decided not to do so, however, just in case.Cristial was waiting outside a door, down a different hallway. He was unhappy but Nelson knew their look was one of worry and not upset about losing someone. That meant the Goddess was still alive, at least.“Shouldn’t you be recovering?” Cri

Fenryn paced his study, his arms folded across his chest. He had felt anxious ever since he had received the scroll from Nelson. He had heard nothing since then, however, and it had been far too long, in his opinion.Had they captured Nelson? If so, he may never know the full truth and he would have to find another way to act. What if Nelson blabbed about his mission and who sent him? What would happen then?A polite knock on the door brought Fenryn’s attention to it. “Enter,” he said, his voice stern. He couldn’t show his anxious emotions in front of anyone other than two people, and one of those people was not in the castle anymore. When Fenryn saw it was Vaughan who was at the door, he relaxed a bit. The Knight Captain offered a polite nod of his head as he entered and closed the door behind him. He watched Fenryn pace for a moment before saying, “your Majesty, if you pace so much you will we

The group stood before Yukiro, ready for her to allow them to go home. Nelson wondered how she would help them get home, as she had explained nothing to him. What she had said was that it would be quick.“Now, before I get you on your way,” Yukiro said to them as she turned her focus squarely on Inleet. “Did you wish for me to return your brother’s body to you?”“I’d rather he be alive,” Inleet said, her tone cold. She knew her brother was gone for good, as Yukiro seldom brought someone back from the dead. Even if he had done something heroic by helping save Nelson, life and death were not something to be treated casually.Yukiro offered a look of sorrow. “Unfortunately, even if I did that, his body is far too mangled. Even I can’t fix everything,” she replied. “We Gods may be immortal and powerful, but we have limits.”Inleet scoffed but did not argue. She offered a small nod o

Author's Note
I hate to do this to my readers, but I am going on a short hiatus. If I write at all, I may not post it just so I end up with a backlog. I have lost all of my motivation lately, and can't bring the words out no matter how hard I try. TT-TT I am deeply sorry for any inconvenience and I promise I'll continue the story as soon as I can! I hope things will go back to normal for me soon, but I need to take a break, I hope you understand and thank you for your patience. All my thanks, Yukiro! PS: There will be one more chapter this week since it was already scheduled 2 weeks ago. After that, I can't say when I will update again until I find my passion.
