BOOK 3 CHAPTER 45: A Scar and The Return to Work
Vincent kept on thinking something in his head.“What if I overdo it? What if I kill the captain? What if—”But Flames was there to remind Vincent.“Hey, brat! Don’t doubt yourself. You’ll get yourself into much trouble if you doubt yourself. Remember, in every power, there must come the weight of controlling it. That cold state of yours is nothing but a part of you. Limit your given power but also giving it all-out. Intent to win not to kill. Remember that!” Flames blared.Vincent coldly nodded and then, he gripped his sword firmly and positioned it into the Slasher-Style, but limiting it to minimal damage, Vincent is not quite sure about that. However, he does not intend to kill their captain, he just wants to prove him he deserves that spot. Anthony on the other side of the ring was also gathering strength in his arms. He was also thinking the same thing as Vincent. Anthony has to be careful, because one mishap, then the World Authority will come after him if he maims or potentiall
BOOK 3 CHAPTER 46: Hero Work Part 1
Two weeks have passed, and Vincent is now back in the streets, observing the city he swore to protect. It was another perfect day. The sun was up but it was not that hot. The citizens were doing their lives as normally as they should be. Vincent’s cape flaps behind him as the wind breeze through. He perched on a building’s gargoyle; his jet-black eyes gazed upon the beautiful city of Rockmington. A few months back, he was still a novice hero who just started his career, but now, he's a full-pledged commander. Leading his own division and rising to the prominence of the world. But after the incident of severing ties with the Amazonian Tigers, his hero ranking has dropped significantly. From fourth to a hundredth. It doesn’t bother him, though. To him, a hero’s ranking doesn’t measure the power they have. The ranking system is mainly about the hero’s popularity. As Vincent gawked at the city, his AC vibrated. He tapped it and the hologram of David appeared.“Commander, we have a hostage

A whole day has passed, and as the sun bled and the orange light shone at Rockmington, Vincent is the fifth district, cleaning up monster remains.“This is a lot, though.” Vincent disgustingly threw a corpse in a dump truck.“They kept leaking out of the forest for some reason. We need to at least have heroes patrolling the area. Both close and long-ranged combat heroes.” Vincent pointed out.The heroes with him agreed. As they finished loading up the truck, Vincent gave a green light for traffic to continue the flow, and he then went back on the rooftop of the HQ. He took stick from his pack and lights it up with his fire powers. While smokes at the rooftop, Ian arrived.“Commander.” Ian saluted.Vincent nodded as he then went back looking at the city as he leaned on the railings. Ian approached him and took out a stick too to smoke.“Nice work today. Five cases solved, three hostage situations apprehended, and a successful monster defense.” Ian pointed out.“All in a day’s work. I l

The master’s degree holder then arrived. It was man, maybe in his 30s, he has thinning brown hair, and he wore round glasses. He stood in front of Vincent after saluting at him. Vincent told him to move closer.“What’s your name?” Vincent asked nicely.“Wyatt Tormer, my hero name is Wire.” Wyatt introduced.“And you have a master’s degree on information technology, right?”“Yes, sir.”“Do you know anything about creating a hotline? Like 911. But this time, my plan is to make us a direct hotline. A direct hotline in which the citizens will now not need to be redirected from another dispatcher to us. It takes a lot of time. And I think this idea might also solve our delayed response problem.” Vincent explained.“Y-Yes, sir. It’s quite easy. We first need to build our own cell tower, then have it—”“Do it. I’ll fund the project. I’ll contact my brother for the materials. Just make a plan out of it and I’m going to have him talk to you. Is that okay?” Vincent asked.“Yes, sir! I will work

Night fell, and Vincent is now in the new dispatch unit’s room. Where the other 19 transfers were in front of monitors and wore their headsets.“Commander, we need a hotline number. What should it be?” Wyatt asked.“14215. Can it be that number?” Vincent suggested.“It’s possible, sir. Let us try registering it.” Wyatt then went to a monitor and tried to register the said number. The telecommunication company accepted it almost instantly.“Isn’t that hotline number a bit too long?” Ian pointed out.“Nonsense, the citizens will find it convenient, I’m telling you.” Vincent proudly claimed. As the number is already registered, Vincent officially commenced the dry run testing. If this truly solves their delayed response problem, then it’ll be a whole lot better. But if this failed, then that’s millions of GAMs for nothing.“David, inform the men patrolling the city to call this number if there are any disturbances.” Vincent ordered.David saluted and went on to call the men on duty. As t
BOOK 3 CHAPTER 50: Nostalgia and a Re-Opening
A couple more weeks have passed, and Vincent was at his usual spot, at the top of his headquarters’ roof, smoking a stick, trying to ease the stress he’s been having. It’s now in the middle of November; everything is going by real fast right now. A month and a half have been since the Gambling Center mission, and Vincent still can’t seem to let go of his statement back then. Especially when Arthur’s face is popping in every billboard he sees. Now that he’s thinking back about everything, he recently saw a news report from earlier, about the—”“I knew you’d be here.” Called a voice behind. It was Ian.“Why aren’t you out there patrolling? I thought you loved the streets and doing actual hero work?”Vincent sighed, “Something’s bothering me, I don’t know what it is, though.”Ian nodded and let it go as this is not different from their commander. Ever since he took into office as the commander of the 16th, he has done great things in this city and for its citizens. People kept coming and

November 24th of the year 2022, it was finally the day the Central Hero Academy is re-opening and will become a fully functional institute once again. As Vincent arrived at the Central Empire’s airport, he was quickly surrounded by the media.“Four-Eyes, what are you to say about the significant drop of crime in your city? Does this make you happy? Or do you have more something in mind that’ll revolutionize the hero world?” asked a dark-skinned woman reporter with curly long hair.“I’m glad of the improvements that is being done in Rockmington. Let’s see if I some more ideas to make heroism much more than what it is today.” Vincent answered with a nod and smile.“You know that you don’t have to answer them, right?” Ian whispered.“It’s okay, I’m just glad they’re not asking about the incident last month.” Vincent winked.A couple more questions were asked before they reached their private vehicle arranged for them by the academy. As they went on their way, Vincent was warned ahead by
BOOK 3 CHAPTER 52: An Unexpected Meeting
The people Vincent saw made his heart almost drop. It was his friends. Jamie and Faye Philips, the twins. And some of the comrades he had during his time in the rebel army.“Are you that busy to even bother to call or message us?” Jamie pouted.“Just because you’re a big shot now, doesn’t mean you’ll ignore your friends who once was ready to die with you!” Faye followed.Vincent raised his hands in defeat, “Okay, okay. I’m sorry, I was just so busy that—”And all of a sudden, the twins hugged Vincent. Ian gave them some privacy as he stepped away. Vincent can feel their heart beats. This familiar sensation. These are his friends. He felt guilty not contacting them all this time.“We’re so proud of you, Vincent. And I know Champ will be too.” Faye sobbed as she buried her face into Vincent’s chest. As they broke apart, they then walked around the campus. Seeing familiar places and buildings. The hangout spots they used to go to. The cafeteria in which Vincent started his first ever sch

After the whole touring of the whole campus, Vincent met more familiar faces. Norman still teaches there and Michaella Pole who now serves as the deputy headmistress of the academy. The whole faculty of the academy has been re-evaluated also, hiring new professors to make up the spot of those who turned back on the academy during the time of the previous battle. And as the clock ticks to 6 in the evening, Vincent with the twins and the other professors were outside the gates.“Are you going back to Rockmington, Vincent?” Faye asked.Vincent looked at Ian who gently nodded and left, “Why don’t we grab something to eat or drink? My treat.”The group cheered as they then head out to the most famous restaurant in this city. Polputine is the restaurant they will be eating. A five-star restaurant and is known for their pricey menu but quality food and beverage. As they entered the restaurant, the rest were at awe because of how elegant this restaurant was.“This is enough, right, Michaella?

Hours have passed, and Vincent and the others are now outside the restaurant, waiting for taxis to take them home. Michaella was drunk as hell. She carries a wine bottle with her while singing a horrible Sasaki native song. Vincent, Faye, and Jamie all exchanged numbers to keep in contact with each other, and Andy also gave Vincent his own. As taxis arrived, Michaella was escorted by Norma into the vehicle, he seems to be pretty annoyed of her now. Norman thanked Vincent for the meal, while Michaella screamed at the top of her lungs,“Thank you *hic*, Four-Eyes!”And then, they left. The leaves the other four,“How about you, professor?” Vincent looked at Andy.“Oh, I’ll be sleeping at my quarters in the academy. Got a few more things to polish before school starts tomorrow.” Andy then patted Vincent on the back. “Well, I guess I’ll see you soon. Call me whenever you need something, okay?”Andy then walked towards the academy.“And you two?”“Our apartment is just right around the cor
