Saving the Vanguard
[Before the current event..]… Merlin made his way to the side of the kobold camp. The place is well-defended. There are enough lookouts, and there is even a watchtower in the middle. The same spot where Gerald and the other adventurers are strapped. But this doesn’t mean that the defense is perfect. On the contrary, there is a significant flaw in this. Darkness. As mentioned before, there aren’t any torches lighting up the camp. This makes seeing difficult. Of course, kobolds living in caves can see in the dark, but not that well. They rely more on their sense of hearing and smell to track nearby enemies. And a significant reason why the kobolds keep their camp this way is to hide it. Without any vision, they are safe from a vast majority of predators. At the same time, they can set up traps for those foolish enough to get near their camp. The same is true for those who aren’t careful enough and don’t notice the base. This has no use against Merlin. The demon can hide his scent pr

Forcing Out Information
It only took five more minutes for the battlefield to be completely cleared. Merlin led the charge, taking out more than half of the kobolds that remained. All because he focuses on attacking the monsters at their critical spots. Making it that much easier for him to take their lives. The camp is now left with nothing but the corpses of the kobolds. Dismembered arms and legs, intestines, gouged eyes – these are only some of the byproducts of the fight. Although repulsive, these things will disappear in a couple of minutes. Disintegrating into mana particles just as how any dead monster does within the game.Gerald paid little heed to this. His eyes are fixated on one thing and one thing only, the man who saved them. A creature capable of singlehandedly dealing with a kobold camp. Instead of admiration, there is an itch that grew from this idea. That there is someone capable of this. More so, that this same person ordered him as soon as they met. Telling him what to do as if he’s noth

Fighting the Hounds
“Don’t break the formation!”Gerald shouted as [Shadow Hounds] dashed left and right. Beasts as tall as regular K9 dogs, but packed with more raw power than a wolf. These are quick as well – barely visible through the light provided by the torches that Gerald’s group created.[Creature Name: None][Type: Hound][Specification: Shadow Hound][Level: 8][Information: Monsters that pride themselves in their speed within closed spaces. Due to their pitch black fur, these monsters become deadlier in the dark or in poorly lit areas. Having a natural camouflage that they use to their advantage.]A shadow hound moved quicker than the rest. It found the opportunity that it wanted and poised to strike. Only to be stopped by a dagger finding its way under the creature; slicing through the belly as blood sprayed and the fallen body of the hound tumbled a couple of times before reaching a spot where the light of the torches doesn’t reach.“Good work Zack!” Gerald remarked. “Everyone, follow our le

The Second Round
“That’s it guys! Just a bit more push and we’ll win!” Gerald encouraged them. It’s not like he’s lying as well. They really are winning. There are a total of fifteen hounds on their side when they began this fight. Three of which got burned right away. Another one got injured with arrows and, another one got slashed by Gerald himself. This left them with only ten more hounds to deal with. This made this fight easier, especially because the monsters do not have their beloved darkness that they can use to conceal themselves. But since Gerald wanted to show off to Merlin, he did a couple of things that made the fight difficult.Gerald’s presence in the frontlines actually makes it difficult for the fireballs and the arrows to be released. This is because there is the possibility of him being hit. It would be a bad thing if they hit him because, this could lead to worse circumstance. Where their leader gets bitten by the hounds and surrounded. At that point there will be nothing that they

Lies Over Meal
The day passed without much incident. The group decided to make a camp in a covered area nearby, with large rocks covering both the left and the right side. It’s not a complete block. Otherwise, there would be no path. It’s just enough to hide the group while giving them a line of defense in case monsters attack. The one who chose this spot is Merlin. He told his allies they needed at least a couple hours of rest before continuing their journey. A reasonable enough suggestion that Gerald took it. This former vanguard of Avalon has nothing against the idea because even he is tired from all the walking that they’ve done. That’s the only thing they did. Walk. There isn’t a single monster camp that they came across, and this is because of the map they gained as loot from the hounds. One which showed them where more monsters would be located. Merlin has his own copy of such a map, acquired in the same manner as his allies.“That was exhausting.” Gerald said as he slumped to the ground. “Le

A Sub Quest
[A Sub-Quest has been added][Sub-Quest – Hound Slayer][Grade: E][Information: One hound was able to escape during the earlier skirmish. This came back to the main nest of the hounds for backup. Your group will be hunted down by the hounds in 2 hours.][Requirement: Defeat all the hounds.][Reward: Map and key towards the den of wolves][Reward: 1000 experience points]These appeared as soon as Merlin finished talking with Gerald. It isn’t a notification that came out at that exact moment though. This came along with other notifications that have been left unopened by Merlin. Doing so by utilizing the [Do Not Disturb – DND] function. Allowing him to be left undisturbed all this time.“Great. Now I have this to think about.” Merlin said as he looked at the camp.Of course he’s going to fulfill this quest. Earning a thousand experience points instantly on his first day in New Earth isn’t something he’s just gonna allow to pass him by. But before this, he needs to sort the things that

Of Dens and Hounds
Merlin began to act during his shift in the night. There are only two hours for him to work with so he needs to be quick with what he does. A factor which he also took into consideration when he looked at where the hound nest is located on the map. The place is not that far. Twenty minutes of walking will allow him to reach it and, if he’s a bit faster, he can probably reach it in fifteen. This also means that the place is not that far from their camp. But he already placed this into consideration as well or rather, the quest did this for him. When he accepted this quest, an item was also given. An [Area Lock Scroll], an item which prevents any noise or movement from a certain area reach outside. With an item such as this, there is a surety that Merlin can fight without disturbing the slumber of his alliesSo the demon moved. And he moved with paced steps. Tracking his location on the map and looking at how far the hound nest still is. There’s no need for him to use a torch since he

Of Dens and Hounds II
You might be thinking about what it is that actually happened in that fight. You’d understand it if you look back at all the items that Merlin has showed us though. But I won’t make your life difficult and simply hand it down to you. I’m sure that we all deserve an explanation to what happened. There is no cheat or anything else that was used. No stroke of luck that was relied upon as well. All of this is merely a result of Merlin thinking far ahead before the fight could even begin. The knives that he used, although not being much in terms of damage and accuracy, has been turned lethal through a simple addition – kobold blood. That’s right. Merlin coated each knife in kobold blood and to preserve this, he placed the items in his inventory, ensuring that this will still be in liquid form once used. And as already mentioned, this is lethal. Kobold blood is dangerous for a wide variety of creatures, especially those that do not possess any poison or ailment decrease.Hounds fall into th

Spoils of Battle
[You have completed the sub quest – Hound Slayer][You have leveled up!][You have leveled up!][You are now level 10]Merlin sat at the middle of the empty battlefield to rest. Even though he wants to come back to the camp right away, he figured he should have some time to rest first. A good time for him to look at what this fight produced for him as well. Beginning with the completion of the recently added sub quest. The levels are produced by the experience points he gained from the later part of this fight, as well as the reward from the sub quest. These combined allowed him to reach the same level as the highest leveled member of their party – Zeke. But this isn’t the only reward waiting for him. There are others.[You acquired a map and key towards the Den of Wolves.][Would you like to integrate it?]The item appeared in front of him at that moment. Merlin looked at his prize with great satisfaction and delight. It’s not everyday that such a useful item becomes available.“Yes

Gerald's PoV
This is becoming more and more annoying. There’s a lot of walk that’s involved and I don’t like it. I didn’t start from the bottom like these plebians after all. I am a chosen one. My father gave me the privileges that I deserved right from the start. He bought me all the top tier equipment and gilded me with all the resources required for me to spike through to the top.But that isn’t the same in this bloody world. I don’t know what happened but all of a sudden, everything began to change around us. The world crumbled and, data seemed to merge with reality, then there’s the gigantic loading screen that everyone saw as well. With words that go like:[Merging Requiem’s resources please wait…]It didn’t make sense to anyone. Of course the world government tried to stop it but there was nothing they could do. Even they are powerless in front of a phenomenon they cannot understand. That’s how things came to be. That’s how the whole world changed into Requiem, molded into this bloody game.
