"Ducks." Was the very next thing Oliver said to Gerald. "Ducks?" Gerald asked, puzzled."I saw them bring in new ducks for their pond. There were about five of them…". Gerald watched in bewilderment as Oliver spoke. He could not believe his ears. "I just thought you should know since you asked sir…" Oliver concluded."Oh, you stupid little thing. I guess your poverty has affected your sense of reasoning as well. Get out, now!" Gerald barked. Oliver quickly bowed and walked out of the house.Oliver scoffed and smiled as soon as he stepped outside. His plan had worked. But there was something very important that he needed to do, something that had been delayed for too long already."Marv, bring the car around." Oliver said to Marv over the phone. As soon as he walked out of Gerald's house's vicinity, he entered the car and Marv drove off.Marv followed Oliver's instructions and drove towards his old house. "You need to relax, boss, Edgar would never do anything to hurt your sister. Yes, he was a jerk in prison but he has his limits," Marv tried to calm Oliver down but Oliver's heavy stomps could not be calmed, not even in the slightest. He dashed towards his former apartment, much to the surprise of the occupants who had just seen him leave."How dare he? How dare he raise his Filthy hand on my sister? I will break those fingers of his!" Oliver barked. He dashed towards the corridor, shoving people out of the way while they cried. As soon as he gets to Picks' room, Oliver bursts open the door. But Vera was not there. There was no sign of struggle. The room was mildly furnished, and had a television hanging on the wall. Oliver could see Vera's clothings arranged by the side of the wardrobe, but the majority of the wardrobe was occupied by Picks' stuff."How did he get her? I turned my back for a moment. Where could he possibly go?" Oliver wondered out loud. He thought for some time, and c

Edgar gasped as the gun he held in his hand fell. He staggered back, giving Vera the opportunity to run away from him. A bullet had pierced his abdomen, and before he knew it, he crumbled to the ground.Oliver walked closer to him with the gun still in his hand. He avoided eye contact with Vera who stood at the side, shivering. She could not believe what just happened. "You have two choices, Edgar. One, you submit to me and I save your life, and two, I leave you here and you die. Which will it be?" Oliver asked Edgar wearing a poker face. Edgar was terrified of this new version. He tried to speak but he coughed out blood instead."S-save m-m-me…" he managed to mutter. The shadows rushed to the room to check what had happened, and they gave a sigh of relief when they found out that Oliver was safe."He's losing too much blood. Take him to the hospital. I missed the vital organs. He will survive." Oliver said to Marv who nodded. But as he approached Vera, she shuddered and took a step b

The emergence of night was the quickest thing that happened that day. All through the day, Oliver wondered if his grandfather was alright. He had returned to work in the company. He could not be absent from work, especially not with his alibi. But there was something that Oliver noticed since he left the hospital. A man who was standing across the street, gazing at Lionheart group. Oliver studied the man as his curiosity grew. He was quite sure that the man was watching him. It has been hours and still, the man was there, watching closely as he worked. Just then, Oliver's phone rang."Marv. What do you have for me?" Oliver said over the phone."You were right boss. The man appears to be a tail. Should I apprehend him?" Marv asked, but Oliver scoffed."No. Do not let him suspect a thing. I shall get to the bottom of this myself." Oliver said and hung up. He cast a glance at the spot where the man was sitting, pretending to be reading a book. "Oliver! You are lagging at your job!" A co

(Earlier that week...) Mia nearly fell as she struggled to get inside the office. She was so late that morning that she knew her boss would yell at her again. She sighed while she ran her hands through her bag for her lipstick. The day was not going so well. She had worked all through the night and slept off. She didn't even hear her alarm clock ring. The dark circles under her eyes from exhaustion were signs that she needed more rest than she was allowing herself to get. "You're late, Mia…" Ben, the security man said to her as she showed her access card. She sighed."I know. Long night." She breathed."I just hope your ill-mannered boss does not take it up against you, especially with everything that is going on in there already." Ben said, and Mia arched a brow."Why? What happened?" She asked."Well, something about a massive case that you folks should have prevented from reaching the news. Now the boss is annoyed, and we don't even know why. He called me names this morning." Ben

Mia reluctantly worked on the article. She was not pleased in the slightest. She even felt happy when Joanne was made to take the credit. She would never write anything to praise Viktor Grey or his family. It was already nighttime. She quickly left the office and headed straight for the Grandeur Orphanage. She needed to speak with Amelia. Perhaps, the matron could give her some clue on who the masked man was.As she walked around the cold alley, Mia was uneasy. She had heard about terrible things happening there, but she had somehow lost her money along the way. The day was a terrible one!"Hey, pretty. Can you spare us a moment?" Mia heard a man say from behind her, but she didn't stop walking. Her heart raced within her chest as she perceived the strong stench of alcohol oozing."We're talking to you, bitch!" Another one who suddenly pulled up in front of her yelled. Mia gasped as she stopped, her legs started to tremble. She took two steps back but crashed into the other man instead

Pascal clicked furiously on the computer. He was visibly tired, but he didn't want to stop. Mia had asked for his help, and he was not going to disappoint her."Why are you going through the old Lionheart files?" Rhea, his partner asked while looking over his shoulder. Pascal shot her a disapproving look."It's none of your business, Rhea. And why do you always do that, sneak up on me?" He asked, frustrated."Maybe I like your reaction every time. You have been working on this stuff since last night. Why don't you just go home and get some sleep?" Rhea asked him."Don't worry. I'm fine. Now that I think about it, you did not go home last night. Why did you stay behind?""I was waiting for you dummy. I wanted to make sure you do not burn yourself out. I forgot you are extremely capable, and that's why you made detective in the first place." She commented. Pascal smiled. "But seriously, this case is like a decade ago. Why are you looking into it?" Rhea asked him. He offered her a seat

Elina sighed as she took a sip from the champagne that lay before her. It was a rather sunny afternoon, but she did not care. She just wanted to get drunk and forget about all of the terrible things that had happened over the weekend.Elina felt like she was being punished. She has done a lot of terrible things in the past so it was not unlikely that some entity or stuff was paying her back for her sins. But she could have afforded the payment, could she not? But there she was inside club Laplace, drinking to the merry and chill she had lacked for the past weeks."You should call off the wedding immediately. How could he do this to you? Gerald is such a liar and a petty man." Her friend, Rosa, scoffed as she drank from her champagne. Rosa was one of Elina's closest friend, and wore a matching green shirt as her. Love, or pretence?"To think that a company worker called you to tell you the story. That is just so sad. What are you going to do now?" Lena, another of her friends asked. Bo

Viktor Grey stepped out of the car as soon as it came to a stop inside the parking space of the Lionheart mansion. He took a good look at the surroundings before he proceeded to walk inside. It has been a very long time since he had actually visited, judging by the number of things that had happened in the past."You're welcome to the Lionheart residence, sir. However we were not expecting you." The butler who stood by the door said to him. "I came here to see Isaiah Lionheart. Let him know of my arrival. I'm sure he would want to meet with me." Viktor announced. The Butler, however, was not ready to oblige to his command."I have orders not to let anyone into the residence, sir. I do hope you understand, but you need to leave now. The patreon is resting." The Butler said to him. Viktor Grey grabbed the butler by the neck and slammed him into the door. The Butler gasped for air, and tapped continuously on Viktor's hand, but he was not ready to let go."Say that one more time, and I w
