Chapter 11
Chapter 11ALEJANDRO returned home and found his Mommy Felecia preparing their dinner. The aroma of the food quickly went to his nostrils and it made him calm a bit. "Hey, mom? What are you cooking this time?" he asked, making his voice a little lovely despite what happened to him. Felecia turned her head and glanced at him with a sweet smile. "Of course! What else should I cook? It's your favorite." "Oh, a chicken casserole," he confirmed. "Yes. Come on. Sit down. This will be ready in a minute," Felecia said, smiling at him. Alejandro just nodded and pulled a chair to sit down. While waiting, he rubbed both his palms at each other. He suddenly feels so cold. Felecia then suddenly noticed his discomfort. "Are you okay, son?" Felecia asked in a worried tone. Alejandro tilted his head, looking at his mother who still looked beautiful even if her gray hair almost covered her black hair. "Hmm? I'm okay mom. Just a little bit tired," he said with a raw smile. Felecia gave him food

Chapter 12"I won't force you. We can survive without him. I'm here mom. I'll take care of you," he said. Felecia only cried and when his mother stopped crying, he waited for her to calm down a bit. After that, he begged his mother to join him for dinner. Felecia granted her son's request without objection. After they finished eating, his mother promptly locked herself in her room. He wanted to talk to his mother but he didn't have the courage to approach her. He just let her rest. Alejandro then sighed and went into his room, next to his mom. He swiftly shifted his body weight onto his comfy bed. His entire body quickly calmed down. But this was short-lived since his mind instantly remembered what his father had done. He wants to investigate. He wants to see and determine whether what his mother is saying is true. He wants to ask his father why he left his mother. Even though it hurts to know the truth, he still wants to hear the real reason. He strained for breath. He had a sudden

Chapter 13"Who is she? Why are you stopping her from coming out?” His father's face turned pale again and droplets of sweat dripped from his forehead. "She’s my client, son. And I don’t know her personally because we just met just today. Why?” Alejandro smirked and couldn't even hide how disgusted he was while looking at his father. "Are you sure you only just knew each other today? So why are you driving her? Is this her car?” He asked one after another. His father turned paler and seemed to struggle to answer him. “Y-you know what son. I am really in a hurry. Can we just talk some other time? We’re gonna be late in our meeting,” his father said, almost stuttering."Is my question really that difficult for you to answer right at this moment? Why can't you answer me right away? Dad?” His father shaked his head, trying to deny it again."N-not like that son. It's just so private. Can people talk on another day? I promise I will meet you and explain everything.” He cocked his head.

Chapter 14Alejandro raced through the dusky streets, every step echoing the panic drumming in his chest. His breath came in ragged bursts as he darted through alleyways and side roads, taking routes he hadn’t driven in years. The sun was just beginning to sink below the rooftops, casting a golden haze across the city, but Alejandro barely noticed. All he could think about was getting home—home to his mother, to the only person who had ever stood by him without question. When he reached the familiar gate of their modest house, he paused, trying to steady his breathing. He wiped the sweat from his brow, straightened his shirt, and forced his face into a mask of calm. Whatever storm was closing in on him, his mother Felicia didn't deserve to feel even a gust of it. Not yet.Inside, the smell of garlic and onions greeted him like a warm hug. His mother, Felecia, stood at the kitchen counter chopping vegetables, humming softly to herself. The sight almost broke him.“Dinner will be ready
Chapter 15
Chapter 15Alejandro spent his first few nights on the run in a series of anonymous, low-budget motels scattered across the outskirts of the city. The rooms were small and dimly lit, reeking of stale cigarettes and moldy carpets. Sleep eluded him, as anxiety and fear consumed his thoughts. Every time a car pulled into the parking lot or a door slammed nearby, he tensed, expecting the authorities to burst in.He kept the television volume low, scanning every news report and headline, hoping for a glimmer of truth to emerge. But the media had painted a damning picture of him. "Trusted Executive Turns Criminal Mastermind," one headline read. "Millions Missing: Alejandro Garcia at the Center of Scandal," blared another. Reporters rehashed the same narrative: he had orchestrated a sophisticated embezzlement scheme, betrayed the company, and vanished without a trace. His photo was everywhere—on television, online, plastered across newspapers. The man who had once commanded respect was now a

Chapter 16The next day. The first real crack in Helena and Diego’s armor came on a rainy Tuesday. Jero’s voice was low and tense when Alejandro answered the burner. “They’re panicking.”Alejandro sat up straighter. “Why?”“That audio file we got? I didn’t keep it to myself.”Alejandro’s gut tightened. “Jero…”“I was careful,” Jero interrupted. “I sent a snippet—just a few seconds—to a freelance journalist. Someone who owes me big. She’s not mainstream. Not corporate. But she has a following. She posted it anonymously.”Alejandro's breath caught. “And?”“It’s spreading. Slowly. A few threads on Reddit. One investigative blog picked it up. People are asking questions.”Alejandro stared out the window. The sky was a gray sheet, rain tapping against the glass. “And Helena? Diego?”“They’ve both gone quiet. No more public appearances. I heard Helena canceled a board meeting. Diego shut down his social media.”Alejandro allowed a flicker of satisfaction to bloom in his chest. It wasn’t vi

Chapter 17The first snow of the season dusted the rooftops and blanketed the sleepy streets of the town in white. Alejandro stood by the window of his apartment, the same one above the hardware store, watching the flurries fall like ash. His breath fogged up the glass, and he drew a small “A” with his fingertip before wiping it away.In his lap lay the notebook he’d been filling for weeks—evidence, timelines, scribbled theories. But today, something felt different. The pieces were beginning to fit. The audio files from the USB drive had confirmed Helena and Diego’s scheme, but Jero had gone further. That morning, Jero had called with urgency.“I’ve found a name,” he said. “Someone who helped set up the offshore accounts. A fixer. Real ghost-type. Name's Lorenzo Fenix.”Alejandro’s pulse quickened. “Does he work for them?”“He did. But word is, Diego burned him recently. Cut him out of a deal, left him hanging. Fenix isn’t loyal to anyone now.”Alejandro gripped the phone tighter. “Ca

Chapter 18At 1:47 AM, a car pulled up outside the safehouse. Alejandro and Jero locked eyes.“No one followed me,” Jero whispered. “I swear—”Three rapid knocks hit the door. Alejandro drew his pistol, moving silently to the window. Through the blinds, he saw her. Helena. Alone. No guards. No weapons visible. Alejandro opened the door slowly, gun behind his back. “You’re a long way from your kingdom.”Helena raised both hands. “I came to talk.”He let her in, but his stance stayed rigid. She walked in like she owned the place, eyes flicking over the monitors. “So it’s true. You really are alive.”“Of course I am alive! Disappointed?” he asked flatly.“I’m impressed,” she said. “Diego was convinced you were too broken to come back. I told him we underestimated you.”Alejandro didn’t blink. “You didn’t come here to compliment me.”“No,” she said, turning to face him fully. “I came to make a deal.”Jero scoffed. “Typical.”Helena ignored him. “You want justice. I can give you Diego. Yo

Chapter 19INSIDE the car, silence settled between him and Jero.Jero’s voice was low but urgent. “We need to find out how they did this. Who planted the fake files? Helena’s always been ruthless, but this... this is something else.” “Could it be Lorenzo!? Or Marina!?” Jero added.“I think it's Marina. Lorenzo will not betray us.”“Fuck that bitch!” Jero cursed.Alejandro closed his eyes. He felt hollowed out— betrayed not just by Helena and Diego, but by the system that had swallowed him whole without a second thought. How did he not see this coming?AT THE station, Alejandro was booked, fingerprinted, and thrown into a holding cell. The fluorescent lights buzzed overhead, harsh and unforgiving. He sat on the hard bench, the cold metal of the handcuffs biting into his wrists.Time stretched, slow and cruel.News of his arrest exploded across social media and news channels. Reporters hailed it as the final chapter in a long saga of corporate greed and criminal deceit.Alejandro’s pho

Chapter 20The metal clanked behind him— the cell door closing once again with that familiar, punishing finality.Alejandro sat on the edge of the cold steel bench, staring at the cracks in the concrete floor. His fingers trembled as he gripped the edge of his seat, blood pounding in his ears. The walls around him felt smaller by the hour. His thoughts spiraled, desperate for a lifeline. He had one hope left.“Please,” he said to the officer. “Just one phone call.”The officer stared at him for a beat too long, then handed him the receiver.Alejandro’s hands were shaking as he dialed. One number after another—lawyers he had worked with, friends in legal circles, even old clients.Straight to voicemail. Another number. Then another. Some didn’t answer. Others hung up the second they heard his voice. The last one—a respected attorney he’d known since his first year in the industry— didn’t even let him speak.“Don’t ever call me again, Alejandro,” the man said coldly. “Whatever you’re in
