CHAPTER 231
Enrique straightened up, forcing a calm expression onto his face. "Send him in." Henry walked in, his usual self-assured demeanour slightly tempered by a hint of concern. "Hey man. What’s up?” Henry shook Enrique. “You look tense. Did your company lose money? Or the weight of your single life is fucking with your head?” Henry asked, followed by a smirk. Enrique forced out a laughter from his depressing mind. He needed to act just right when in front of Henry. “Come on man. I would get married someday. I just want to fuck all the bitches in this city first. I hear pussies are calories in this city.” He replied. “You are a bad dog. A really bad dog! But of course. There are hundreds of them in my contact list. You might want to play around.” Henry then slapped a little packet of weed on his table. “You can have that. The finest in the city.” Their conversation was enveloped in a deep silence as Enrique tried to empty the content of his weed into a piece of paper and wrap it up.
CHAPTER 232
Megan’s heart nearly stopped. She quickly snapped the box shut and scrambled to her feet, trying to mask the panic in her eyes. "Alex! I... I was just... looking for something I dropped earlier," she stammered, forcing a nervous smile. Alex’s eyes narrowed as he stepped closer, his gaze shifting from Megan to the box in her hand. "And you thought it might be under the bed?" His tone was calm, almost too calm, which only heightened Megan’s fear. She nodded, trying to keep her voice steady. "Yes, I wasn’t sure where it could have rolled off to, so I was checking everywhere. Didn’t mean to intrude." Alex reached out, gently taking the box from her hand. He opened it, his expression unreadable as he saw the empty interior. "Strange place to look for something, don’t you think?" Megan swallowed hard, her mind racing for a plausible explanation. "I know it seems odd, but I’ve been scatterbrained lately. Thought I might have put it there without realizing." Alex studied her for a momen
CHAPTER 233
The night wore on beautifully. The stars were out and shining brightly. Like Anice Feeny said, ‘Stars don’t shine without darkness.’ And how right she was. The night was really really dark. But the bright stars and moon accentuated the beauty of the night. To some, the stars were simply a beautiful sight to behold. Looking at those adorable burning balls many miles away was breathtaking. To others, it was a marvellous moment for constellations, especially for astronomers. To some, it was a romantic moment where their partners would hold their hand under the bright reflection of the moon, looking deep into their eyes like they were about to rip their soul out with a kiss. But to some, the stars were a reminder of some certain memories. Past memories that they held dear to them. Sad ones. “He was… Neil was right. Nathan was too soft. He just wasn’t meant for this world.” Marcus said lightly as he stared at the grave which he had buried Nathan. April sighed, tears dropping down h
CHAPTER 234
“Ouch… that’s enough. Fuck!” Alex screamed as his doctor tried to clean his wounds as usual. The effect of the bullet that Kamsi pierced into his skin was not funny. He had to undergo some painful treatments. “But sir. If you don’t…” “I said enough, asshole. You wanna kill me? Come on. Just give my drugs to Sara and you can leave. I can’t stand this pain.” Alex argued, rubbing the spot where the pain reverberated. ‘Kamsi, you little bitch. I hope you are actually dead. If you aren’t, you better kill yourself before I find you. Ouch!’ Alex whispered out loud. Sara, whose heart was still pounding in her chest, took the medicine from the doctor. Ever since that Megan lady stepped into the house, her heartbeat had not remained the same. Every single time she stood in front of Alex, her heart would leap. What if Alex knew that she was the one who helped Megan find that box? What if Alex knows that she was trying to escape and go back home to her people? “Why are you standing ther
CHAPTER 235
“Welcome back ma’am.” “Welcome back home ma’am.” Vivian looked at the security guard, looking tired and frustrated. “I have told you before, do not call me ma’am. Call me mama. I am yo mama. Is that clear?” The security guard quickly saluted and bowed his head in agreement. “Your wish is my command ma’am. How was your trip mama?” He asked. “That is none of your fucking business. You are just my security guard and nothing else. So, stop standing there staring at me like I’m a statue and get my stuff inside!” Vanessa shot rudely. And then she walked away, leaving her gigantic bags and substantial items. “Just a three days journey and she went with all these?” Asked the security guard to his fellow who helped him raise the hefty bags. “You act as if this is your first time dealing with Mama,” the second guard chuckled, shaking his head as he grabbed one of the bulky bags. “You should know by now, she never travels light. Every trip, it’s like she’s moving her entire wardrobe.
CHAPTER 236
Alex quickly slid the knife back into pocket, carving a smile on his face as he turned to Vanessa. "Oh, nothing to worry about, babe," he said smoothly, walking towards her with a casual ease that belied the violence of moments earlier. "Just had to deal with some idiots who don’t know how to keep their mouths shut." Vanessa raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued but not enough to press further. "I heard some yelling. Sounded serious." Alex chuckled, brushing off her concern. "You know how it is. Some people just need a little reminder of their place. It’s all taken care of now." She gave him a sceptical look but decided to drop it. "Alright, if you say so. So, how has your life been without me? I am sure your dick must be calling my name every night.” Vanessa began walking towards Alex seductively, gradually pulling off her clothes. Truth was that Alex no longer had the romantic zeal he once had for Vanessa anymore. He was tired of her and had wished her trip would have exte
CHAPTER 237
Vivian lay in her hospital bed, her eyes looking up to the ceiling. She was finally better. All of her memories had returned and she remembered everything. Including how she got into the incident that led her to her being confined to the bed. It was Collins. All Collins. The last thing she remembered was seeing Enrique shooting at Collins. The deafening sound of the gunshot seemed to echo endlessly in her mind. The pain was instant, searing through her body, and she had crumpled to the ground, her vision blurring as darkness began to take over. The last thing she saw before everything went black was all the family running towards her to grab her. She was an old woman dealing with Arthritis and any sudden movement of change in weather, even loud noise would send shockwaves of pain through her fragile joints, triggering a severe health issue. But thankfully, she hadn’t died. Somehow, she had survived, and now, lying in the hospital bed, the weight of those memories pressed heavily
CHAPTER 238
“It’s been 2 weeks, son. Wanna go back?” “Nah. I like it here. I am going no fucking where. I like your coffee.” The glass clinked as Nathan dropped the cup of finished coffee on the table and slumped back into the sofa, breathing the enthralled air that swept in from the trees through the window and into the little cottage. The crippled man wheeled his chair, shaking his head. “You are not going to change, are you? Well, I have an idea. Since you will be here for God-knows-how-long, I might as well teach you some survival skills. You know, like making the best coffee.” The crippled guy said softly to Nathan. Nathan grumbled, but ge agreed anyway. “Fine. But this does not mean that I will returning back to the city, Fred. You look like shit and someone needs to take care of you.” “Oh come on now, boy. I have been alone for 5 fucking years. Since the day you left, I have been surviving and this wheelchair isn’t going to stop me from doing just that. Remember you have a sister
CHAPTER 239
“Tell me her name right now or I will send this knife passing through your eyeball!” Vanessa threatened, shoving a pocket knife into her security guard’s eyes. He was tied to a chair like a criminal, ready to be electrocuted. Jack was shaking like he was already dead. He knew who his madam was and could have just run away when he had the chance to. Now, he had a piece of information that would put his life in hell. If he dares open his mouth, Alex will find out. And Alex had warned him; ‘Not a word about Megan to my Fiance or anyone in this world. If you dare open your mouth, there will be no butthole where you can hide from me, boy!’ “I swear, mama. I know nothing. I only know that a blonde lady came here once. And I did not even see her face. It was Josh who told me.” Jack said, the liquid between his legs already drying up. He was scared to death. And so was Josh who was also tied to a chair. He was even more scared than Jack. Jack was really not lying. He was truly not aroun
CHAPTER 240
A notification blinked on her screen. Megan had seen the message. Vanessa grinned, leaning forward again, her hands ready to strike the next move. "Now let’s see how well you play, Megan," she muttered to herself, the thrill of the hunt rising in her chest. Minutes passed, then the dots appeared on the screen—Megan was typing. “And who are you?” Vanessa viewed the message and wasted no time in replying. She toggled her fingers before typing back, carefully crafting her response. "Let’s just say I’m someone who knows everything about you and Alex. Someone who’s been watching, waiting. I think it's time we have a little chat." Vanessa leaned back, satisfied with the bait she had set. Megan’s reply would be crucial; if she sensed fear or defensiveness, Vanessa would know she had struck a nerve. If Megan was bold, then she’d adjust her tactics accordingly. Either way, Vanessa was determined to make her next move sharp and devastating. Megan's response popped up quickly: "I have n
