A Lap Around The Estate
Nova stood by the entrance, a gentle smile in her eyes and not her lips. She had come earlier than Jayden had expected her to."What are you--?""Also Ella." Jayden's sister cut him off softly as she appeared from a short distance. "Sorry that I am a bit late, traffic wasn't easy on the outside of the estate." "A bit?" Jayden arched his brow. He gave a soft roll of his eyes as Ella chuckled."I bumped into your sister on my way here." Nova spoke up. "I don't know if it would have caught your ears as you must have been so busy sir, but I come bearing news about your ex wife and her fiance, Kelvin." Jayden moved away from the door and ushered both of them in. Sitting in the living room, he had already prepared three cups of coffee and shared it for them so he listened to Nova's news while sipping on his coffee.Nova spoke in a gentle tone in contrast to her harsh years in the military. "News about it is all over the town, and the Internet too. But word of it must have not reached her
Decision Making
"Can we go now?" Jayden questioned. Nova blinked, realizing she had been staring. Her face turned red at once and she shot up to her feet. "Yes sir!" Turning her face away from him so he would not see, she made her hair into a ponytail and started towards the door. "Jayden," Ella called out her brother's name softly. Jayden gave her a smile, a gentle one. Touching her shoulder wordlessly, he started after Nova who was already outside the house. They began jogging, legs moving in sync. Nova's ponytail bounced as she moved, her hands were also in sync with Jayden's. There were some people, men and women of the estate, gathered in one corner of the estate, entertaining themselves with some tea and some biscuits. Jayden had never really tried to get to know the people of that estate, to be honest, he was not interested in doing so either. He liked to keep his business to himself and he appreciated it when it stayed that way. He did not bother to cast as much as a glance, same as Nov
Decision Beneath The Sun
The afternoon sun blazed down over the winding estate paths, the heat clinging to Jayden Knox’s bare chest. He sat on the low stone wall near the jogging trail, breathing slowly, towel draped over one shoulder. Sweat traced lines down his hardened muscles, his military trousers slung low on his hips.Nova stood nearby, sipping from her water bottle, stealing a quick glance at him. She wasn't the only one. Across the street, a couple of women who were pretending to jog kept stealing not-so-subtle looks his way, giggling like teenagers.Jayden barely noticed. His mind was somewhere else entirely — dark, cold, focused. The plan. The mission. The vengeance that had kept him awake for nights. He ran a hand through his short dark hair, squinting into the sun.Was it time?Could he really pull this off without risking everything he'd worked for?"You’re quiet today," Nova said, capping her bottle and tossing it into her gym bag. She moved with a soldier’s grace, always alert even when off du
Masks And Mischief
The bass thumped through the walls of the club as Jayden and Nova stepped out of the shadows and into chaos. It wasn't a normal night. Francis was hosting one of his infamous "Carnival of Sins" events — an exclusive party where rules melted away and masks made saints into sinners. The theme was clear: seduction.Everywhere they looked, bodies were pressed together, flesh exposed, mouths locked.Women strutted in barely-there lingerie and glittering pasties, masked men in tight pants and body paint prowled like hunters. The air smelled like alcohol, sweat, perfume, and something else — something darker.Jayden’s presence didn’t go unnoticed. Heads turned. Eyes raked over him, hungry and curious. Nova wasn’t spared either. A few bold men whistled lowly, but she shot them a glare sharp enough to peel skin."Stick close," Jayden muttered under his breath, scanning the crowd behind his mask.Nova nodded once."Wouldn’t dream of losing you in this jungle."They drifted deeper into the madne
A Get Together
The silence dragged but for less than five minutes. Jayden looked up at Nova, a sigh escaping his mouth before he spoke. "This is a golden opportunity and it would be very stupid of us to waste it like that. Let's go with our original plan which is to kidnap Francis. That bloody Olsen can wait."Nova gave a simple nod. "Understood. We will need costumes for tonight, I will help purchase them online." "We will do it together, don't worry. Let's head back to our place before Ella thinks we left her alone at home." He said to her. Nova nodded her head and they both started jogging back the way they had come although not in the same pace as before. Nova would have found it difficult to keep up with Jayden's pace if it was not for her own years in the military. His legs and body moved like he was not even tired. He must have trained and discipline himself according to the war ground and not just simply military trainings.Every soldier knew how to run as fast as needed because they wo
Getting Ready
The woman noticed the new neighbor sharing a glance with his female subordinate and she needed no one to interpret their silence to her. They were having a conversation with their eyes. She immediately stepped in between them. Literally. To stop their ongoing silent conversation. "There's not much to think about my dear," she said to Jayden abruptly. Nova stepped backwards quickly to avoid her feet from ending up under the woman's high heels. Her brow had arched irritably and she wanted to voice her feelings but all that left her mouth was a scoff while she stared coldly at the woman. Jayden noticed and wanted to move closer to Nova but Georgina was just too much of a bug. She did not leave his front or give him the slightest chance to move forward. She spoke on with her bright smile. "It is tradition! You will become worse than an outcast if you do not join us tonight. We are hosting you, how can the celebrant not he present?" She questioned while standing akimbo. Jayden had neve
Getting Together Begins
An innocent and gentle smile, his old self was reflecting through those color changing eyes. The man he once was, young and innocent. Normal gatherings while getting to know and meet new people, it was a normal life Jayden had imagined for himself. But here he was now, a skilled and trained man ready to murder. Deadly skills like he was raised and born to kill. Behind that smile laid so much pain and dark past. He stared at Nova who was staring back at him. "What do you think? Decent enough?" She blinked. "Huh?" Hey eyes might have been on him, but her mind had traveled deeper into him than that. Her cheeks felt heated up as she returned to reality. She cleared her throat softly at Jayden repeated what he had asked her before. "What do you think? I'm trying to keep myself as decent enough as I can get." He explained to her."Decent uh..." She muttered softly. She looked at him closely, this time accessing his looks and not just staring beneath his dressing. "That wrist watch is ov
I'll Buy it
A middle aged man was sitting next to Georgina. He had greying hair but he looked no more than forty years old. At least he would be in his early forties. His clothing was very casual, a plaid dress shirt and a pair of jeans trouser. He had a frameless glass sitting on his full nose and his deep blue eyes studied Jayden through the glasses. He must have been Georgina's husband from the way he was watching Jayden closely.Jayden walked over to the seat she claimed to have saved for him and sat himself down there. "Am I late? You said seven pm sharp." He said to her. She waved his words off with a soft chuckle. "Oh dear no, we just finished setting up earlier than we thought so we decided to sit down and enjoy the beautiful sky and natural cool breeze. As you can probably tell, we are all so very busy with our jobs and we never get the opportunity to do anything fun like this. "But every Friday evening, we make it an habit to meet like this while we can. Thankfully, the new neighbor
We'll Take Two
All eyes of different colors were fixed on Jayden. They all wondered if they had heard him wrong. Georgina was the first to speak, "Jayden, did you hear what we said? The car is two hundred million dollars, two entire hundreds of millions!" Jayden nodded his head. "I heard what you said loud and clear. But this is something we should do to help him save his job after all. Why hold back when we are capable?" He asked with an arched brow. Henry was about to lose his mind. "You-- you will buy the car?! You will really buy the car from me! Really?!" "Yes I will. It actually came to my ear at the right time cause I was going to buy a car anyway. It is very convenient for me." Victoria rose from her feet and fell to her knees. "Thank you! Thank you so much!"Jayden immediately rushed to her and helped her to her feet. "Oh please don't! I'm just a simple customer. You must still be going through some pain from childbirth, you shouldn't be doing this." Tears clouded her eyes. "You just
At The Club
The word surprise was not even half enough to describe the emotions that played on every single face in the gathering, Ella's included. Did she hear him right? Her brother had just agreed to buy her such an expensive car and not just that, he was buying two! She already guessed he was rich, she could not pinpoint an amount exactly but she knew he was not on the same level as he was before, judging from the fact that he was able to secure them an apartment in such an expensive estate and not to mention all of the money he had given her. But she would never have guessed that her brother had hundreds of millions. Was that even all he had? Before she could even utter any question, Jayden rose to his feet and heaved a soft sigh. "Well, I must tell you that as much as I am enjoying this event, I have to say goodnight to you all. I have a very important event to attend, work related. I have already mentioned this to Georgina before so I think I can leave now." Heads nodded in silence. Th
