Chapter 301 - The Assassin in Bone Armor
The battle was not over. Nine, fresh demonic roosters appeared out of thin air, and they didn’t waste a second, they were on the offensive. Three of them headed towards Timothy and his friends, while the rest headed towards the platoon. He couldn’t kill the three of them himself, not without getting pecked on the head by the rooster’s iron-like beak, so he had to be creative. “I’m gonna need your sword real quick,” He said to Ortana, and snatched one of her short swords off of her hands. Afterwards, with all the strength that he could muster, he flung the short sword towards one of the roosters, and hit it right in the middle of its chest! This was enough to pin the rooster down, as it had suffered internal damage, but it wasn’t dead yet. Nevertheless, he only had two targets to deal with right now. So he lunged forward, planted his feet to the ground, and swung his boney claymore sideways, as hard as he could! The swoosh of his claymore guaranteed at least some success. He had on
Chapter 302 - Fortana, the Summoner
Timothy grabbed the surviving summoner by the head, and as she used the power that was supposed to repel Ascended Maguses themselves, he started studying it. Quite frankly, he needed this ability now more than ever, to the point where he even made a deal about it. He didn't want to offend the Arch Maguses who deemed him worthy to remove his mana bracket, but the situation they were in required it, as he and his group haven't made it out of the ruins yet. He needed mana, every drop of it, if he was going to protect his own, and if they were going to survive!“I see…” He mumbled, as he analyzed the ability. “The jagged mana channels are what give the repelling effect. It's almost like your friends were trying to draw an urchin when they made this shit. It's very clever.”“What…?” She asked, confused. She had never heard about mana channels before. “We just learned it off of a book.”“It's a clever trick nonetheless,” He remarked.Timothy got the ability figured out in no time, and after
Chapter 303 - The Expert Summoner
[You killed eight adept summoners, and so, 12,000 system points have been added to your sum.][You also were the leading cause behind numerous dead Demonic Roosters, so 8,000 more system points have been added to your sum. Good job.][In total, you now have a total of 129,500 points.]“Nice,” He thought, and sniggered. “That’ll get me at least two upgrades.”Anyway, having learned the ability that was simple enough to be insignificant, and yet absolutely necessary for their survival today, Timothy didn’t waste any time, and replicated it for the rest of the group. They started regenerating mana instantly. However, they didn’t have enough time to regenerate thousands of points, as there already were several dark mages at the very entrance of the ruin! They were sneaking in, and Timothy could see them in the very shadows that they were trying to hide, so the team didn't have any more time to prepare.By all odds, these summoners were a lot stronger than any mere beginner. They wouldn’t
Chapter 304 - "I banish Thee"
“Dispel!” Timothy yelled out, guiding his team. There was a giant fireball heading towards them, and although he believed that their chances of survival were slim, he still wanted to fight for his life, rather than wait to be burned into a crisp. He wanted to fight! The dispelling ability that they recently acquired, was meant to dismantle direct, elemental attacks like the one that was heading towards them. He was hoping to dispel the fire, just enough to let himself, and his group survive!Within the group, Ortana tried to fight off the sea of fire that was heading towards them, with her own methods, because she didn’t want to depend on the dispelling ability alone. She knew that it wasn't enough, she felt it.For that matter, she raised a large shield, up in the sky, with the little amount of mana that she had. She was hoping that it was enough to stop at least a quarter of the fireball, as they needed every bit of help they could get if they were to survive this one, single fireba
Chapter 305 - Six Trophies
The goblin slaves spilled across the mountainside, and were on the search for any dark mage to mow down. They didn’t care if the mages were human, or something else, they just knew that dark mages were dangerous, and so they were depending on the adrenaline that was rushing through their blood, to help avenge the first-degree burns that they suffered today!Better yet, the head of each dark mage was a trophy of sorts now. Whoever brought such a trophy to their master, was promised the greatest gift of all; Power! Each and every one of them knew that adding three new abilities to their arsenal was great, it would help them survive a lot longer in the future, and better yet, it would help them stand out in the crowd of other goblin slaves. As of right now, everyone in the platoon was just a number, and they hated that fact, so they hoped to be something greater! They were bloodthirsty, and there was only one way for them to quench their unyielding thirst.“Look at Bill go!” Tim remarked
Chapter 306 - "You wouldn't kiss your homies?"
A bundle of goblin slaves got new powers today. They were very happy! Their choices were quite different in terms of what powers they wanted to accept within their arsenal. Some wanted destructive powers, such as the elemental ones, and the rest wanted something more advanced. At first, they didn't know the names of the abilities themselves, but they just insisted on something different. They were over-achievers, they were fiercely intelligent, and were looking for something new.Timothy was surprised by their requests, so he didn’t know what to give them at first. The best abilities he had were all based on dark mana, and he didn’t want to darken their mana pools, so he had to be creative. He thought of a couple abilities that were less invasive, less destructive, but useful nonetheless.“How about the Mind Stalker ability?” He asked the goblins. “It'll let you read minds.”Each and every one of them were shocked that mind reading was even a thing, they thought that only their master
Chapter 307 - An Orca for dinner
Timothy, and the group that followed him were officially out of danger. They had walked a total of ten kilometers away from the mountain that housed the Dungeon of the Old, and from what they observed, no one had followed them. The dark mages that resided around that mountain were likely happy that Timothy’s platoon chose to leave the place, rather than stay and fight.Summoners only had one thing to their advantage, they could summon demons. That advantage didn't mean much in the situation where their demons could get banished as quickly as they had been summoned, as it only took a moment to banish them. Fortana had taught everyone how to banish demons, so even if the summoners brought hundreds of them to walk across the planet and behave like a platoon, that wouldn't matter much, as a mere goblin slave alone could banish them if they had even the slightest ability to aim! With all of that considered, the platoon hadn’t been followed, no. They were free to frolic across the grasslan
Chapter 308 - "I'm a fish, Bill"
With enough effort, Timothy brought back the forty goblin slaves in the exact way that they had requested to be brought back. Then, after he gave a few of them the abilities that he had promised them, most of the promises he made to these goblins were officially accounted for! They were happy. Now, the goblins had to make a tougher decision. They had to pick between serving their master, and not serving him, and each option of which had certain benefits, or disadvantages.Regarding the matter, he said, “Look, I figured out how to let you guys live as long as you want to live. It's a simple trick even, one that I've overlooked before.”Afterwards, he pressured. “Now, the question is, after seeing the dangers that the world poses, do you believe that you have what it takes to survive without me, goblins? I don't care to kill you, but you must understand that as mages from the second realm, pretty much everything in the world will be able to kill you, and most aren't kind enough to pass
Chapter 309 - The way back home
Now, after Timothy struck a deal with the goblins, he had to give them the freedom that he promised them.Timothy started crafting a new ability, one that he had thought of recently, and he managed to make it quite unique. He crafted a dark ability, and it was the kind that would help give these goblins the only thing that would keep them alive! The way this ability worked was simple. Upon use, the goblins would draw dark mana out of their pools, remake the mane for it to seem foreign, and then they had to slam the dark mana across their chest! In theory, this would help them live as long as a normal goblin would, because the ability would strengthen their bones, their immunity, and their blood. They would eventually die from old age, but that wasn’t as horrifying as dying after only living for three months! The goblins were very happy with the Dark Rejuvenator ability that their master gave them, and were quite happy about the idea of dying from old age.Anyway, after he replicated t
Chapter 310 - 429 goblins
With their mana brackets removed, the team were all the more eager to be back in the reef, because they could use Genta's project to rack up what every mage dreamt off, which was flash upgrades! Once they got back, and met with Genta, they discovered that she had planted plenty of Mana Roots already, eight hundred of them, to be exact, so just after a few months, they'd be able to harvest tens of mana roots each, and experience one flash upgrade after the other! They might as well get some flash upgrades, because their mana pools weren't regenerating as fast as they would expect them to. They've been in the sky for two weeks, and only managed to regenerate a third of their mana pools, or a million points each, once they assumed the form of an Aqus Goblin. This wasn’t a lot, despite the number appearing to be huge, as Timothy for example, could spend it all with fifteen or so lightning bolts alone! His abilities were expensive to use.By all odds, they may regenerate their mana pool af
