“I would have preferred if you called me by my first name.” The man said, but his utterance made Quin frown, and then he looked away for a while, getting ready to answer the question.“My boss is a very important person, Doctor Quin. His name is Prince Darrell.” Nero gasped at the mention of the name. He knew who Prince Darrell was, but Quin didn’t care about that. The look on his face remained the same, and anyone who saw his countenance could tell that he was familiar with the name that was mentioned. “What does the Prince want?” He asked, showing no pleasant tone in his voice.Frank cleared his throat. “My boss wants you to come and save his mother’s life, Doctor Quin. She has been infected with a very strange disease that has burned part of her skin. No one has been able to find a cure for over a year.” Quin sighed. “And why couldn’t the Prince come by himself?” He asked, causing a quick murmuring to erupt from some of the men in suits. But he didn’t care about their opinio

Nero wanted to let Quin be and not disturb him about helping the Prince’s mother, but the more he tried, the more difficult it became. “Are you going to tell me why you decided not to help him?” He asked, eyes still on Quin who shook his head slowly.“Forget about it, Nero. I don’t want to talk about it.” He said, causing Nero to sigh.“But you can still forgive whatever they did to you, Quin. I know you, you can never neglect the plea to help someone.” Quin scoffed. “You thought you still knew me, Nero. A lot has changed since the fire incident. I don’t see any reason why I should help Prince Darrell, and until then, I don’t want to talk about it again.” Quin dismissed himself and walked away at once.“At least I tried,” Nero muttered when he realized that his efforts had gone to waste. Then he sat on one of the couches and sighed heavily. Quin walked to one of the doors along the hallway on the last floor and knocked twice. A few seconds later, the door opened and his uncle, E

Quin was touched at that moment, but he still didn’t think that it was a good idea to go with Frank on such a long journey. They were going to spend hours on the road, and he was convinced that they were going to get to the Palace at night.Additionally, there was no guarantee that the Prince was not going to do the same thing he did the last time he went to Westland to help him out.“Please, Doctor Quin. For the sake of my daughter, my family.” Frank reminded him calmly, causing him to withdraw from his thoughts. Then he sighed. “I am only doing this because of your daughter, Frank. Nothing else, the Prince doesn’t deserve it.” Frank chuckled softly, replacing the gloom on his face with a smile. “Thank you so much!” He said loudly and Quin nodded.“We should be leaving at once, Doctor Quin! The Prince’s mother doesn’t have much time left!” Frank’s voice sounded very urgent, but Quin had something that troubled him. “Are we going to get to the Palace with that many of those cars?”

The prince was already waiting for them to arrive, pacing from one part of the courtyard to the other with his hands clasped behind him. Prince Darrell Renton was a handsome young man with long curly black hair that he fancied to braid often. His ravishing skin was one of his most attractive features, including his blue eyes that glittered like the sea. He was married to the daughter of the Mayor of Brightwood City, an arrangement that was made to strengthen the union between the two cities that had been at war for years. His wife Hilda was an epitome of beauty, but she lacked sympathy, and the only thing that mattered to her was authority and spending lavishly. As soon as Darrell saw Quin approaching, a heavy sigh erupted from him and he started moving toward him at once, unable to kick against the urge. “I have been waiting for you, Doctor Quin. Welcome, and thank you so much for coming on such short notice.” He was glad, but Quin refused to reciprocate the smile on his face.

Quin waited until the Prince was able to get a grip on himself, and then he proceeded to break his silence. “That’s the effects of the toxin inside your mother, Prince Darrell. I am going to show you that she was poisoned just like I said.” Quin grabbed a pinch of salt, and then he poured all of it on the cut on the Queen’s arm. There was a sudden reaction that made Prince Darrell’s eyes widen in disbelief. “What’s going on?” He asked, and Quin turned to him.“That’s the poison reacting to the salt, Prince Darrell. Now watch this…” Quin grabbed the bowl of water and poured a little on the cut. Instantly, the white substance gushing and foaming out from the cut vanished, and pure blood began to flow slowly. “I am sure you saw that, Prince Darrell.” Quin stood up from the bed while he was still looking at the Prince who didn’t know what to say,“Someone poisoned the Queen, and you need to find out who did this. Whoever it was has been making sure that she had a good dosage of the to

Quin was silent for a while, and then he turned to Frank with a stern look on his face. “Do you agree to this?”“Yes, Doctor Quin!” Frank responded at once and Quin nodded.“Okay, you better get going.” He said and the King’s advisor left in a hurry. “That’s settled then! You can get to work!” Prince Darrell seemed to be in a hurry, but again he had offended Quin with the way he spoke to him.“I am sorry, please…” He apologized after seeing the way he looked at him. Quin turned to the poor Queen, and because he felt so much pity for her, he proceeded to make the herb that was going to cure her.Slowly, he started mixing the herbs, but he was still in the process when he heard footsteps approaching, indicating that someone was walking into the room.It was the Prince’s wife, Princess Hilda, and she came in alongside a maiden who was carrying a tray.Inside the tray was a plate filled with soup, and a glass of water was beside it. Quin and Hilda never talked even though he had seen h

Hilda returned her gaze to her husband when she realized that her attempt to take the plate of soup from him was not going to be fruitful. “Darrell? Tell him to give it back!” “That’s not going to happen,” Quin spoke out before the Prince could get to say even a word. “There must be a reason why you are so insistent on feeding the Queen, and I am going to find out.” Quin dropped the plate on one of the tables in the room.Hilda panicked. “Are you going to just stand there and watch him disrespect me?” She said to her husband. “Just let him do what he wants, Hilda.” Prince Darrell had already seen enough reason to trust Quin. Right from when he saw what he did with the salt, he was convinced that he was the only one who could save his mother’s life. “What did you just say, Darrell? Are you saying that you are picking sides with that fake Doctor over me?” Hilda asked with a disappointed tone, but the Prince was tired of speaking. “Just let him do his work, Hilda. I beg you.”“No!”

While Hilda was still struggling to free herself from the clutches of the maidens who were holding onto her, Quin walked up to the Doctors with so much delight etched on his face.Without being told, the Doctors already knew that they were in a lot of trouble, and the only plan they had was to start begging.“We know we wronged you in the past, Quin! But we were not in our right senses! Please don’t take this to heart!” The Doctor in the middle pleaded with a shaky breath. He was the youngest among the three Doctors who were on their knees, and the situation seemed to be too much for him to handle.“Please, Quin! Don’t hurt us! Don’t hurt me!” He continued to be, moving backward while he kept his eyes on Quin. “I swear! I didn’t mean to do it, but they forced me to!” The Doctor pointed at his cohorts, and they gasped at how selfish and easy to break he was. The two other Doctors saw that it was either they spoke up for themselves or they could be in a lot of trouble. They decided to

Everyone turned to face Quin. But instead of giving the reaction that someone who was wrongfully accused would give normally, he seemed very much unflustered at that moment. “I think you should ask him how he knows about all of this! Ask him!” Hilda continued to point her accusing finger at him while everyone kept their eyes on him. He was expected to react to the accusation, but when Prince Darrell saw that he didn’t seem bothered, he had to approach him slowly. “Why are you quiet, Quin? Don’t you have anything to say about what she has accused you of?” He asked, but his utterance made Quin very angry with him. “It’s such a pity that you would ask me such a question, Prince Darrell. I am sure you heard the confession of these Doctors.” Quin pointed at the Doctors on their knees while he was looking at the Prince with an unpleased expression on his face. Prince Darrell bent his face to the ground, and he only lifted it when he had managed to get a grip on himself. “I sinc

Quin exchanged glances with almost everyone in the room, and then he stopped at Prince Darrell who still wasn’t able to look at him. “I have done what I came here to do, I think I should be on my way.” He said calmly, causing everyone in the room to look at him in surprise.“What kind of a man is he?” One of the maidens in the room asked, and her colleagues joined her to question about the nature of the strange Doctor standing in front of everyone.“Do you mean that you don’t want anything, Doctor Quin?” The Queen asked and the Queen nodded.“There is nothing I this world that you can give me to appease me. I came here for a reason, and that reason has been accomplished.” Quin stood firm on his decision, and at that moment, it looked like he had cased more remorse to surge into the body of the Prince. “I can’t let you go without showing my appreciation, Quin.” Prince Darrell insisted, and then he was able to lift his head to look at Quin who held onto the plain expression on his fac
