CHAPTER 41
Inside stood Raina Voss, the head of Luna’s Special Projects Division. Young, brilliant, and dangerously ambitious. Luna entered without warning. “Shut the door.” Raina turned, one brow lifting. “No knock?” “No need,” Luna said. “Not when betrayal’s already in the room.” The air froze. Raina crossed her arms. “That’s a bold accusation. Even for you.” Luna stepped closer, a storm behind her eyes. “Three people had access to the neural interface framework. Me, Benedict and you. Benedict has clearance logs. I have biometric proofs. But someone triggered a ghost protocol in the design files. A backdoor left open long enough for data to be siphoned.” Raina laughed once. “You think I’m working with Victor Raithe? That I’d side with a man who thinks the world is a chessboard soaked in gasoline?” “I think,” Luna said, “you want power badly enough to think you can outplay him.” Raina’s expression shifted briefly. There was a flicker of something uncertain. Then her lips cur

“Then we lose fighting for a better future, not as monsters but as matyrs.” Another silence fell, but this time, it was different. Benedict stepped forward, sliding a folder to each board member. “Inside is the next phase, Project-D. Here is Luna’s restructuring initiative details on digital reintegration, there is an oversight, and silent acquisitions in Raithe’s sectors.” Arthur opened his copy. His eyes widened slightly. “You’re going after his energy networks?” Arthur asked in surprise. Luna met his gaze. “Everything he controls, we will infect from within.” Margaret looked up. “That’s war.” “No,” Luna said. “That’s reckoning, and we will make sure our names are heard.” She finally sat. The boardroom felt smaller now. More dangerous. “Vote if you want,” Luna said. “But know this that anyone not with me today will not be here tomorrow. And if you try to play both sides... I’ll know.” One by one, the board nodded. Arthur was the last person to nod. Luna didn’t smile.
CHAPTER 43
“I cannot believe my own daughter would speak to me like that... all because of that bastard!” June hissed under her breath as she paced restlessly behind the house, her heels clicking sharply against the stone path near the garden. Her voice trembled with indignation. “I’m doing all this for her future! She needs to be with someone of high class, someone known, respected in society. But now she wants to throw it all away for that lunatic from the Quarry? I will not stand by and watch this happen. Not on my watch!” Her eyes burned with fury as she ranted to the cold wind. From the back porch, Leon watched his wife with a deep frown. Her movements were wild and agitated, her hands slicing the air as she vented her frustration. He sighed heavily, then walked down the steps and made his way toward her, keeping his tone calm and measured. “Hon, what’s wrong?” he asked softly, trying to anchor her storm with his usual serenity. June whirled around, her expression tight with suppres
CHAPTER 44
They had fun and Luca Ashford took her home and then went back to Starlight Mountain. It was a great day for them both but most especially Amelia who couldn't stop smiling when she got home. She went to her room, took her bath. That evening, the once warm glow in the Thornton estate dimmed into cold silence. The air was heavy, in her room, Amelia brushed her hair with practiced calm, though her mind raced, she knew her mother wouldn’t let this slide easily. As expected, the door burst open and there she was. “Amelia Thornton,” June’s sharp voice sliced through the calm, the name laced with icy fury. Amelia turned to face her mother, eyes steady, jaw tight. “Mother.” June stepped into the room like a queen entering a battlefield. Her eyes swept over her daughter, landing on her defiant expression. “Do you still consider me that, after what you did earlier? How dare you embarrass me in my own house?” “I didn’t embarrass you,” Amelia said coolly. “I simply stood up for myself
CHAPTER 45
The sun had barely set when Luca Ashford received a text message. He was seated on a jagged cliffside, the wind from the valley below was soothingly refreshing for him it was more like an everyday routine for him. He actually relates well with nature. Through the peaks of Starlight Mountain, this secluded place perched high above the world, had always offered him solace and clarity but not today. His phone buzzed once. A message from Silver. “Jason Stewart went over to the Thornton's but left in rage, he is planning something big tonight. Public dinner, public proposal. Be ready.” Luca stared at the words for a long moment, his jaw tightening. He clutched the phone so hard his knuckles whitened. Jason! The perfect son of the perfect family, the golden heir with his manicured lies and polished charm. Always adored, always untouchable. And tonight, he had dared to drag Amelia into his performance? Luca stood, fists trembling, eyes burning with betrayal and rage.
CHAPTER 46
The soft buzz of Amelia’s phone broke the silence of her room. She had spent the evening alone, ignoring the countless calls from her mother and Jason. But now, she watched with wide eyes as videos flooded her inbox. Jason Stewart’s speech, Luca walking into the ballroom, the confrontation. Jason’s threat and Luca’s warning. Her heart thudded like a drum in her chest. Her hands began to tremble. She looked into the mirror, her face was pale but there was something else in her reflection, something giving her determination, there was fire. She grabbed her coat and was eager to head out and deal with this herself. Amelia stormed down the grand staircase of her home, her heels clicking like lightning and thunder mixed with rage. June Thornton stood near the sitting room, sipping wine, still dissatisfied from the evening’s scandal. “Amelia!” she gasped. “Where do you think you’re going at this hour?” “To fix what you and Jason tried to destroy,” Amelia spat, her voice sharp
CHAPTER 47
The white SUV glided smoothly through the narrow winding road, its tinted windows concealing the tension pulsing inside.Amelia sat stiffly in the passenger seat, arms folded tightly across her chest. Now they were silent in the SUV. Even Luca’s usual cheeky grin was missing. His jaw was clenched, eyes focused ahead.Amelia frowned."Where are we even going?" she asked, unable to hide the edge in her voice.Luca glanced at her with a small, unreadable smile. “Somewhere safe. Somewhere that doesn’t smell like judgment and old money.”Amelia rolled her eyes. “That’s quite something even for you and dramatic.”But when the SUV turned past the tall iron gates, gates guarded by two men in suits.Amelia’s sarcasm faded into stunned silence.A mansion stood at the end.Not just a house, not even just a big house. A mansion four stories high, modern yet regal, with glass panels, marble columns, and fountains flanking the wide stone steps.Amelia’s mouth dropped slightly."Wait. Are we… are we

Luca woke up quickly the next day to make breakfast for Amelia.“Good morning Lord Luca!” The Chef greeted him warmly with his head bowed.Luca, on the other hand, needed to surprise Amelia with his cooking.“Good morning, Chef Ray!” Luca greeted warmly and walked towards the veggies he saw, picked up a knife and began slicing. The Chef who was up early and already in the kitchen when Luca walked up to him and took some lettuce and began slicing away.He was surprised to see Luca so early that morning.“Sir, please let me do this!” Chef Ray uttered. As his job was to prepare food for his master, but this was new, Chef Ray is a renowned chef known for making the best meals in all of Cinderfall City and beyond. He was hired by Wilson Brown just last night to come work as a live-in chef for his new employer, Luca Ashford.Seeing such a powerful figure, slicing away at veggies, was surprising.“No, I want to impress my woman that I can actually make something edible. I used to cook quite
CHAPTER 49
The glasshouse was one of the only surviving structures from the once grand Gray estate, which was now something of the past. It was laced with memories, happiness, laughter, pain and sadness. But now, the once grand Gray estate was twisted with vines. Luna stood just outside, breath fogging in the night air, the weight of recent issues or battle's sign of fellow companies aiming to soil everything her father had worked so hard for, settled on her shoulders and was weighing her down. She stepped inside, boots crunching over broken glass and dead leaves. A voice came from the shadows. “I never thought I’d see you come back here. Not after everything that happened.” Luna froze, she wasn't expecting to see someone or anyone whatsoever on her family's forgotten estate. That voice was one that gave her many feelings, but maybe her mind was playing tricks on her because the voice belonged to someone whom she had erased from her memory for the sake of her sanity. She turned
CHAPTER 50
Benedict stood alone, reviewing surveillance from Raina’s exit. His fingers moved fast, decrypting voice logs and signal traces. He had found a pattern but it was still quite incomplete. The elevator chimed, he turned towards it and was surprised to see who it was as he couldn't comprehend what he saw. Caspian Ward stepped out, arms in his pocket, his gaze was cool. “Figured you’d be lurking in the guts of the tower,” Caspian said. “Like a watchdog with access codes.” Benedict didn’t miss a beat. “Very funny indeed, I figured you’d be halfway to betrayal by now.” Caspian’s eyes narrowed. “That’s the second time you’ve accused me without proof.” “That’s the second time you’ve returned from the dead and expected Luna to just trust you.” Silence crackled between them, it was as though the entire room was placed on hold, no noise or sound. Benedict closed the terminal and turned fully toward him, voice low and razor-edged. “I’ve bled for this company, I have watched
