The chanting of the mages die down for a bit. Elira who was busy chanting some mantra took a quick glance at Kael. She walked closer to his body and felt the life drain from him. "It can't be." The mages all turned to look at her. " Is he going to live?" One of them asked feeling a bit paranoid. Elira raised her head up and sigh. " I am not sure I understand any of this. Okey minute he is displaying power that are beyond explanations and the next minute, he is at the point of death." Feeling a bit frustrated, Elira walked out of the room. The gentle breeze crashed against her face as she stared at the moonlight. " Is he going to live?" Elira turned slightly, her gaze showing a sign of worrisome look. She saw it was Rael walking towards her. "At this point, I don't know anymore." Elira let out. "You don't know what? You had the boy's power superseded when he was supposed to be out there training!" Rael lashed out in anger. His very voice was carried by the win

Kael sneezed thrice. His eyes scanned the room as his eyes fluttered open only to see Tiffany standing by his side. Elira could read the tension; she looked at the mages, and they all exited the room. "Do you think he is going to live?" "You are asking the wrong question. Did we bring him back to life, or did the sword? The mages all whispered, each asking unknown questions that even Elira had no answer to. Tiffany helped Kael sit up. She looked at him with a smile plastered on her face. "You look like shit." Kael coughed. "Can I get some water, please?" he said, slightly tilting his head backwards. Tiffany rushed to the table to grab a cup that was filled. "Do you remember what happened?" Her eyes slowly landing on his muscular body. It was almost like Kael had developed more muscles over the little time he spent on his dying breath. [Kael coughed.]"No. "I don't," he said, stretching his hands to grab the water Tiffany had been holding for a long time. Her gaze landed on h

The silence in the chamber pressed on everyone like a suffocating blanket. Everyone was eager to hear what Kael was going to say. He had told the king more than three times now that he was not ready to fight for the kingdom, and now he was. It doesn't make sense to them. It was either he was fooled by the king or he was trying to get out of the kingdom. They all whispered at the same time. Each giving his or her opinion to the person standing beside them. King Almond raised his hand, silencing the room. His eyes studied Kael’s figure, lingering on the strange, glowing symbols etched into his skin. They were unlike anything he had ever seen before.“You shouldn’t even be standing,” the king said, voice deep and commanding. “By all rights, that demon should have torn you apart.”Kael lifted his chin. “But I’m here. I’m alive. That must mean something.”Rael smiled, resting a hand on his friend’s shoulder. “Alive? You’re more than alive, Kael. You’re… different. Stronger.” He leaned i

Many of the Swordmasters fell during the fight with the demons. Rael was one of the valiant men who stood still beside Kael. Each of them wondering how he could manage to take on my demons at a time. "You need to slow down, Kael. We still don't know the extent of your powers!" Rael occasionally shouted as he tried to push through the hordes of demons right in front of him. But Kael's mind was as hard as stone. With his father's blade right in his hands, he felt invisible. "I am fine, Rael. Just make sure they don't leave this place spreading to other kingdoms!" Kael shouted back as he wiped the larvae blood over his face. The Hakana of the dead Swordmaster kept fusing with Kael's body. His body glows each time a Swordmaster dies or a mage dies during the battle. Victory was Newark, but then, the ground shook. The smell of larvae filled the air once more, and another beast emerged from the ground. All the Swordmasters moved back. Each of them looking scared. Kael stood still, t

The two forces collided like thunder meeting fire. Kael’s blades crossed upward, locking against Harond’s massive claws. The strength of the demon pressed down on him, knees bending, muscles straining, the earth cracking beneath his boots. But Kael did not yield. He pushed back with every ounce of strength he had, his teeth clenched, his eyes glowing brighter with the energy that surged through his veins. “Master Harond!” Kael shouted, his voice raw. “If you are still in there, forgive me!” The beast’s face twisted, half-snarl, half-shadow of the man Kael once knew. Its jaws snapped open, rows of jagged teeth dripping with thick black ichor. It roared in Kael’s face, a stench so foul it burned his lungs, but he did not turn away. With a sudden surge, Kael ducked beneath the crushing claws and drove his father’s blade upward. The glowing sword pierced deep into Harond’s arm, slicing through scales and bone with a hiss like metal searing water. The beast howled, staggering back, da

The news of Kael defeating the demon had spread far and near. Most of the neighboring kingdoms were beginning to seek refuge under King Almond. Each Swordmaster, mage, conjurer, and many men of valor all coming together to stand together under one single banner. Kael, on the other hand, was helping the small towns to recover from the destruction of the cities. Old men and women all rally round to help. Each one of them singing his praises and thanking him for saving them. Kael remembered the old man, his words of advice, and his vision that foretold of him becoming a king. But Kael didn't want that title; he craved peace and a land he could call his own. "Are you alright, Master Kael?" A voice called from behind. Kael turned slowly, his hand placed on the sword by his side. "Do I know you?" he said gently, his eyes landing on the man before him. "No," he replied flatly. "But I know you. You helped save my town, and I would forever be in your debt. Please accept this token of gr

Kael was about to step foot into the kingdom, but then, the first called to him. It has always been, ever since the death of his father. The first had become his training ground and a sanctuary to him. "Where are you going?" Rael looked back the moment Kael turned his horse around. "The king can wait. I have got some place to visit." Kael replied. Rael furrowed his arch. "What do you mean the king can wait? He demands our presence now." Kael paused, dragging his horse to a stop. He turned. "I knew this was going to happen." "What? That I am trying to listen to a direct order from the king or what?" Rael said, looking at him. "You were not like this when you got here. You were here for me. You needed me, but then, I am already fighting your stupid demon wars. So, there is no reason to listen to me or defend me anymore." Kael barked, his Hakana shining underneath his eye. Rael bent his head slowly; he raised his eyes just in time to meet Kael's angry face. The tension was thicke

Kael looked at the old man, who was wondering what he was going to pick. "And what if I decide not to pick any?" He finally said with his hands placed on his chin. "What if I don't want to know what the future holds?" "The choice is yours, Kael. I can only show you what the future holds, and you can walk the path," the man replied, and immediately the nuts disappeared."You came to find him, didn't you?" The old man's groans gave some funny sounds as he got up on his feet. "Yes. I have a lot of questions to ask him. For some weird reason, I can absorb the Hakana of the death swordmasters." Kael said, keeping his gaze on the man as if he was expecting him to cast a spell to stop it. The old man could read his thoughts. He grabbed his stick gently as he leaned on it. "Is that such a bad thing that you are getting stronger and more powerful?" "They are seeing me as a monster. They think I am nothing like this." Kael said with a sullen face. He picked a rock and threw it against the

The thunder roared above as if the heavens themselves wanted to witness the fight. The wind whipped through the open market square, tossing sand and dust in all directions. The hooded man’s cloak fluttered wildly as he charged toward Kael with incredible speed, his blade shimmering a deep shade of red.Kael’s eyes narrowed. His body moved almost by instinct as he parried the first strike. The impact was strong—so strong that the ground beneath his boots cracked slightly. Sparks flew from the blades as both warriors pushed against each other.“You’re strong,” Kael muttered, pushing the hooded man back with a sudden burst of strength. The man laughed, a deep, harsh sound that echoed through the square. “Strong? You haven’t seen anything yet.”He raised his hand, and instantly, a wave of crimson Hakana exploded from his body, forming the shape of a giant wolf behind him. The beast roared, shaking the air. People screamed and backed away as the air turned hot from the energy the man was

The hall was silent. Each Swordmaster looking at Kael. Some of them has seen him in battle. The intricate design of his Hakana on his flesh. It was unlike anything they all have ever seen. " Why don't you let this go, son?" King Almond said staring at him. " He is the only family you have left." " Family?" Kael's voice overshadowed that of he king as he stepped forward. His eyebrows arched. " Are you defending the man who murdered my father? We keep going in circles each time I demand what is mine." Everyone turned to face Almond. "It is your choice, kid. I don't want you to make a nasty decision you are going to regret. You fought Zeuxis and won, didn't you? The fight ended abruptly. Why don't you take that head on yet again?" Rael looked at Kael; he knew he wouldn't stop. "The king is right, Kael. Maybe you should challenge Zeuxis to another round of fighting, but this time, it shouldn't be to the death. What do you think?" "Fine. But I am going to claim what is mine. I am ge
