Chapter forty two
The council was loud as many of them were talking about what to do. " You sent the boy away. He is the only one who can stop the beast!" Gabriel said with anger looking at his brother. " And you think we can handle this on our own?" Another member of the council said angrily. " Why do we need him? He is even without his Hakana which means he is useless to us." Another one sad looking at the rest of them. " If he comes back here then he is going to work as my janitor. He doesn't know how to control what he wields. His power is not one to be reckoned with." King Almond said with a smirk. " I am going to set all the best sword masters to guard the kingdom. " And you think there are any who would take on any demons right now?" Gabriel said looking at him. " They will listen to my voice. I am their king!" Almond shouted. The whole council went quiet. " Dareth would see to It that all the upcoming students are trained. I want all of them picking up their swords and defendin

“I will fight him.” The voice was cool, low, and yet it carved through the silence like steel through silk. Heads turned, slowly and in disbelief, toward the towering entrance of the chamber.A figure stood silhouetted by the flickering torches outside, rain hissing beyond the stone archway. He stepped forward, cloak dragging wet across the floor, silver armor glinting under the low light. It was Commander Rael. A warrior of few words and fewer allegiances, Rael was a man who lived in shadows and fought in silence. He was not only feared by all but he was once a general under the previous king, he had vanished after the battle at Hollowmere, where legends said he’d held a broken sword against a thousand horrors until the dawn bled red. His return was like a ghost stepping out of legend.Dareth’s lip curled. “You’re a fool to show your face here, Rael.” “Perhaps,” Rael said, walking further in, his footsteps echoing like war drums. “But fools tend to be the only ones left standing

Nira walked behind Kael silently. She knew he was going through a lot.The pain of losing Master Harond was still fresh inside his mind, and now there was the load that was pinned on him again. He has to save the kingdom.Nira walked fast to catch up with him. "Do you have any plans on getting your Hakana back?"Kael said nothing but simply kept walking. Nira scratched the back of her head. The journey was a bit boring, but she needed to engage in a conversation to make it more lively. "Do you think Dareth killed your father because he wanted to steal his Hakana?"That was it.It was like Kael had been waiting for her to ask him that question. "I don't know what is actually going on, Nira. Master Harond told me the king has a hand in it. And ever since I got into the palace, he hated me." Kael said, looking at Nira."Did you remember killing Rand? Everyone is talking about it." Nira said quickly and defensively."I don't remember. I think one of the mages did something to me. Blocked

Kael's gaze went from Nira to the tall, muscular dude standing in front of them. His eyes never leaving Nira."You are with him now, aren't you?" The masculine voice broke the silence between the three of them.Nira couldn't say a word. She was stuck in the middle of them as her eyes darted to Kael, who she just kissed, and the handsome-looking boy in front of them."Can someone tell me what the hell is going on? Who is he, Nira?" Kael asked, his voice gentle and calm."Do you need to ask? Are you blind, boy?" Zeuxis said with anger. His hand slightly hovered at the dagger he had beside his belt. "You are standing in front of the last son of the most powerful mage in the kingdom."Kael said nothing but simply poked his ears with his finger. "Is that name supposed to ring a bell? Thank you for introducing yourself to me, but I don't think I know you, and I don't want to. Whatever you had with her is gone. She is with me now."Zeuxis smiled, walking out of the woods. "Did she tell you t

Kael turned slowly to see the look on his face. He was having the same scar as the man who was standing in front of him, but he had no knowledge of him."Why do you look as if you have seen a ghost? Have you found it?" The man asked, staring at Kael.* And what is it that I am supposed to find?" Kael answered rudely."Hmm...I can see you are now a bit chatty.""And wasn't I before?" Kael said again, sharply. "Who are you, and why do you have the same mark as I do?" Kael asked."Why don't we skip that?" he said slowly with his hand right behind his back. Kael's face landed on the sword he had tied to his back."I don't need to be told that you are a swordsman." Why are you hiding in the forest?" Kael asked.[Man laughs]"Did you just ask me that?" He replied, looking at Kael. "And why do you find yourself drawn to the forest?" He asked again."Because it reaches out to me." It calls me." Kael said truthfully. "I believe we are both being called out by the powers that lurk around here.

Kael turned to where the noise was coming only to see Gabriel walking through the woods. His gaze locked with him immediately."What do you want, Gabriel?" Kael asked, getting off the wood he sat on. "King Almond has lost it. "He wants your head and won't be reasoned with." Gabriel said immediately he got closer. The flesh rustled behind yet again. Kael looked beyond and saw a face he had never seen before. "And who is that you brought along?" He asked, pouting his mouth like a kid."Meet Commander Rael." He fought many battles and also fought with many kings. King Almond inclusive." Gabriel said, looking back."And why is he here?" Kael asked."He is here for the kingdom and for you." We don't have time anymore, Kael. Things are getting out of hand, and it's only a matter of time before they come for us all." Gabriel said slowly. "You need to start your training now."Commander Rael walked closer, and his gaze fell on Kael. "Is this him?"Gabriel nodded slightly.Commander Rael walke

Kael could feel the Hakana trying to surge through his body as the demon rushed towards him, but then nothing.Rael was perplexed. He quickly rushed toward the demon with a jump and slashed it into two.The demon let out a guttural roar and fell down dead.Gabriel then channels his Hakana and has the demon disappear finally."What happened?" Rael looks at Kael."Are you scared of the channel, or is this having something to do with the fact that your Hakana is locked?" he asked, staring at Kael, who was scared. This was the second time a demon was coming for him after Master Harond was turned into one himself.Kael got up with anger, dusting his shorts. "Why do they keep coming for me?" Is there something I don't know? What did my father actually do to cage them from coming to Earth?Rael looked at Grabiel. "You didn't tell him?""I just thought his father should have told him, and if he didn't, then it means he was trying to have him protected." Gabriel said, rubbing his temple."What

The journey back to the palace was suffocating. None of them said a word to themselves. Commander Rael walked in the front while Kael and Gabriel walked behind him. Kael thought of so many possibilities while Dareth would need to kill his father, but all he could think of was greed. Greed could make you do stupid things like coveting what was never yours to begin with. "Why are we going back to the kingdom?" Kael asked when they got into the walls of the kingdom. "Because I need to do this the right way." We need to have your Hakana unlocked, and then we leave." Commander Rael said without looking back. Kael kept silent. The thought of leaving the life he knew behind was a lot for him. This was where he spent his childhood. Trained and become the boy he was. "Where are we going if we are leaving?" Kael asked. "I would like to know that too because you are not just taking the only weapon we have to battle the demons. If you are going to have him trained, then why don't you jour
chapter fifty one
The double sword shined in Rael’s hands, forged entirely of raw Hakana energy. Its blades hummed with restrained fury, streaks of silver-blue lightning arcing across the edges. Kael had only ever heard of such a manifestation in legends—a weapon formed from one’s pure will and spirit, shaped only by those with mastery beyond the realm of ordinary warriors. He remembered he had seen his father channel like that once or twice, but now seeing it again reminded him how powerful his father was. Gabriel sighed heavily, drawing his own blade—a sleek weapon etched with runes of ancient power. “This is madness,” he muttered. “But if we must carve our way in, then so be it. I’ll stand with you.”Kael’s heart pounded harder. “Wait!” he shouted, his voice cracking through the tension like thunder. “There has to be another way. Fighting the palace guard won’t bring peace. My father would never have wanted this!”Commander Rael didn’t look back this time, his voice firm but resolute. “Your father

Everyone's gaze was on Kael, like the next word that he was going to say was going to bring the entire room into chaos. "I don't know why my father had to die at his brother's blade, but I am ready to find out, and if anyone has a hand in it, then it is going to be war. I know my uncle did it, but on whose order?" Kael said, looking at King Almond. "You need to be careful who you point accusatory fingers at, boy. I don't do well with people coming at me," King Almond warned. "Since you are so eager to be back into my kingdom, then I am going to allow you on one condition." The entire room was filled with tension as many of the sword masters looked at King Almond. "And what is it that you ask of the boy? Because if this is some kind of trick, then you are going to have me to contend with!" Commander Rael scowled. "No trick. I just want to test the boy and see if he is not like his father." King Almond looked at Kael, who stood in front of him. "You want to know why your father
