The Game Begins
Kai povThere are few things I love but not more than playing basketball with my friends at school. We were at the basketball court, the sun was shining madly and the air was filled with the sound of sneakers squeaking on the pavement.Huang tae was being his usual flashy and showy self dribbling like some fucking NBA star while mark was busy trash talking everyone."Kai , you're going down" Mark said with a grin as I lined to the basket."Save the smack talk for when you actually going to win mark" I shot back sending the ball swishing through the hoop. "That's another point for me..." I winked.Tae threw his hands dramatically. "Okay Kai we get it, you're good at basketball you don't have to rub it in our face, we already know"!" Atleast you admit that I'm much better than you" I said tossing the ball to him.As we continue playing, I felt my phone buzzing with notifications on my pants pockets. I ignore it at first but it kept buzzing and buzzing and keep ruining my game." Popula
The Game doesn't end
Kai's povBy the time I got home, the whole day felt like a fever dream. The tasks, creepy smiley face on that, I wonder if it was funny or just weird. I kicked off my shoes by the door, tossed my bag on the couch and collapsed on my bed starring at the ceiling. My mom was still at work still not back home. On the ceiling there were stickers of moon and stars that I put up when I was a kid. They glowed under the dim lights of my room. My room was a mess but I was too tired to care.Just as I was about to drift off , my phone buzzed from the desk, I groaned and rolled over to check if it was tae or mark, but it was a notification from the game.>"Hey Kai! Miss me already? Ready for your next task?"I laugh "seriously? Even now?" Like who would miss some creepy game installed itself out of nowhere".Ignoring it I tossed my phone aside pulling a pillow over my face. I was still feeling uneasy about the whole game thing but I was determined not to let this silly game get to me. I let my m
Game on for everyone
Kai's POVI thought I was in the clear. I ignored the creepy storage room task yesterday and decided to spend the rest of the evening trying to forget about it. But of course, life never goes as planned. I keep getting weird feelings about this game. The next morning, I strolled into school, yawning as I made my way down the hall. I was still half asleep as I didn't get enough sleep, replaying the weirdness from yesterday in my head.As I rounded the corner, I spotted my friends Tae, Mark, Marianne, and Rubin together, their heads bent down, staring at their phones. What's so interesting that they are all looking at their phones?"Yo! What’s got you all so serious this early in the morning? You're all busy looking at your phones, anything happens?" I called out, slipping my hands into my pockets as I approached them.Tae looked up at me, his expression a mix of confusion and irritation. "Kai, did you send us a link to that creepy game of yours?"I blinked, taken aback. "What? No, wh
The game turns dark
Kai's POVThe morning after our ridiculous mop dance off, the energy at school was still buzzing with laughter. Students whispered and giggled as they passed us in the halls, clearly impressed by our ridiculous dance battle yesterday. For a moment, it felt like we were legends. But that feeling didn’t last long.It started as a normal day. We were all hanging out after school, gathered at the basketball court, lounging around and joking about the next prank the game might throw at us. Tae and Rubin were trying to one-up each other on their trick shots, while Marianne and Mark were lying on the bleachers, scrolling through their phones.Suddenly, a familiar notification sound went off this time from all our phones simultaneously. The buzz was so synchronized that we all paused, exchanging uneasy glances. This was the game app notification..."Looks like the game’s got another task for us," Mark said, his voice light but tinged with something else ....nervousness maybe?.We pulled out o
Forest of nightmare
Kai's POVSchool was over, but the weight of everything that had happened still pressed down on us. We had just vandalized the school bathroom under the app's command, and while we’d managed to complete the task, it didn’t feel like a victory. The laughter and pranks were long gone, replaced by a gnawing fear that we were only beginning to understand. I could tell that we all regretted following this creepy game.We slowly walked to the bus stop together, the usual chatter missing. Tae, Marianne, Rubin, Mark, and I stood in silence, each lost in our own thoughts. The sun was setting, painting the sky in hues of orange and red, but even that beautiful sight felt ominous, I kept thinking what would happen next?".As we waited, an empty bus rolled up in front of us. It was unusual no number, no destination on the front display. Just a plain, white bus with tinted windows."Is this even a public bus?" Mark asked, raising an eyebrow."Who cares," Rubin sighed, clearly exhausted. "Let's jus
No Escape
Kai's POVI don’t know how long we stood there, staring at our phones as the gruesome tasks ticked away, but I do know that something snapped inside of me. The weight of what the game was making us do crushed me until I couldn’t breathe.Without a word, I took a deep breath and slammed my phone into the ground as hard as I could. The screen shattered, tiny shards scattering across the dirt."What the hell, Kai?!" Tae yelled, but before he could stop me, Rubin followed my lead, hurling his phone against a nearby tree."We can’t keep playing this sick game," I said through gritted teeth. "If we don’t have phones, it can’t make us do anything."For a moment, the others hesitated, looking at their screens as if they were lifelines. But then, one by one, they smashed their phones, letting out screams of frustration and fear. Marianne hurled hers against a rock, tears streaming down her face. Mark crushed his phone under his heel until the screen turned to dust.We stood in a circle, surrou
Breaking point
Kai's POVI woke up with the sharp, dry taste of the forest still lingering in my mouth. The cold earth beneath me felt unfamiliar, and the strange pull of disorganized made my head spin. I sat up, trying to clear the fog from my brain, but my body felt sluggish, as if the night’s terror had drained all my energy. The others were already stirring around me, their faces pale with exhaustion, eyes wide with the same fear that had settled in the pit of my stomach. Tae, Rubin, Marianne, and Mark were all groggily rising to their feet, confused and disoriented, as if they had been pulled from the dreamlike haze of sleep into another nightmare. But this wasn’t the forest anymore. The familiar, damp trees had been replaced by something else something even worse. We were lying on cracked asphalt. The ground felt cold beneath my fingers, the dry leaves crunching as I pushed myself up. The sky above us was still a sickly gray, no blue in sight, just an oppressive overcast that seemed to suck th
The Next Task
Kai's POVThe silence that hung between us after Mark’s departure was suffocating, nobody said anything it looks like we're in frenzy after everything that happened. We stood there on the side of the road, the engine noise of the car still echoing in our ears long after Mark had vanished from sight. I felt like I was stuck in some twisted nightmare I couldn’t escape.Tae was the first to break the silence. His voice was shaky, barely above a whisper. “We... we can’t just stand here. We have to do something. We can’t let Mark do this alone.”“What’s left to do, Tae?” Rubin snapped. His voice was sharp, raw with emotion. “Mark’s gone. He killed someone. And he took the car. What now?”I didn’t know how to respond. The cold reality of what Mark had done set in, and with it came a crushing weight. He was gone, and whether he was going to return, whether he was going to try to make things right, I had no idea. But the one thing I did know was that we were still trapped. The game hadn’t let
The Twist
Kai's POVThe cold, eerie silence that had fallen after the man’s departure was suffocating. I could feel the weight of the game pressing down on me, its invisible hands tightening around my throat. The notification on my phone had made it clear: we were out of time, and one of us was about to pay the price. My friends and I stood there, staring at our phones, the seconds ticking by like a countdown to our doom.I felt a bead of sweat trickle down my temple. The thought of sacrificing one of us, of choosing someone to die just to survive this hellish game, was too much to bear. I couldn’t do it. I wouldn't do it. But if I didn’t, who would? The game had us backed into a corner, with no escape. Then, a flicker of hope. Something in my gut told me that there had to be a way out. This wasn’t just some twisted game where we had to kill or be killed. No. There had to be another way another solution. I wasn’t going to let this game break us.“What if we don’t play by the rules?” I muttered,
The Puppeteer
Unknown POVThe room was dim, the only light coming from the flickering screen in front of him. His face, half-lit by the eerie glow, was a twisted mask of satisfaction. The hum of the computer was the only sound in the space, but to him, it was a symphony of chaos. His fingers danced across the keyboard, the sound of each click like a drumbeat in the quiet of the dark room.A lab coat, pristine white, hung from his shoulders, but it was not the color that defined him. It was the grin, the sickening, gleeful expression that crept across his face as he watched the game unfold. He leaned forward, his eyes scanning the screen intently, every fiber of his being focused on the chaos he had orchestrated. On the computer, the app’s symbol an innocently smiling yellow face glowed ominously. Beneath it, words scrolled across the screen in a cold, mocking font:“Game of Horrors: Level Up, Fear”He chuckled darkly as he read the quote that followed:“Fear is the key. And they will play.
