CHAPTER 21
CANCEL THE DEAL “ I'm not sure. His mother was also a poor woman. In fact, Ethan was the one who was taking care of her financially then. I don't know how she survived when he was in prison, and even that, I am not sure Ethan would go there after hospital release," Ava explained. Jake was visibly not convinced. "I don't believe this. If his mother is alive, there is a high possibility of his going there after his release. We have to pay his mother a visit at all costs," Jake stated. Ava shook her head negatively “How do we get there? What are we going to do there? No matter what, we can't go there. At least not by ourselves. If you see him, there is nothing you can do to him. We just have to take our time,” Ava said calmly, trying to calm Jake. Jake was pacing on the balcony now, without saying anything. “We have to handle this any way we can. ************************ Emily was seated in the meeting room, staring at something on her laptop. She was seated, comfortably waiting
CHAPTER 22
A WRETCHED WOMAN Ethan sat in his car as he made the journey to his mother's residence. On a normal day in a bus, the journey would have taken him four hours to make. However, with this escort and the speed at which he was moving, he was able to make the journey in one hour and thirty minutes. Nashcity was a small town with a high population of low-income households and people. It housed just about three thousand people in a town, and that was where Ethan himself grew up. Just about two minutes after getting into Nashcity Ethan pulled over in front of a whitewashed house right in the middle of the town The house looked old and crooked from lack of maintenance, and the lawn was overgrown. The fence that was supposed to cut the property had fallen off and deteriorated. Ethan got out of the car and looked around her surroundings. It was a hot afternoon, and everyone seemed to have gone about their daily business. Ethan walked straight to the house, followed by the two military me
CHAPTER 23
JAILED FOR MURDER Ethan started the car and, after a few seconds, was able to turn to the opposite side where they came from. The escort led the way as they made the journey back. Mrs Stone was staring at Ethan weirdly, looking at the car he was driving and the escort that was leading. He knew his mother, and from the silence, he knew there were a lot of questions. “I know, Mama. I know all your questions,” Ethan spoke, breaking the silence. His mother nodded. “Then you better start explaining yourself now,” Mrs Stone said with a stern yet soft voice. “Okay. The car we are in is mine, but the two motorbikes and the riders are not. A friend lent them to me so I could come here faster to see you. I came out of prison three days ago, with nothing, but I was rich. I learnt a trade in jail and was able to make money out of it. I came out rich, but Ava didn't know. She divorced me on the same day I came out of prison because she had found someone else to live her life with an

SUFFER FOR LOVE – REGRET IN PAIN “If you didn't do it, then who did? Who the fuck killed him if you didn't? Why the fuck did you plead guilty if you didn't kill him? Why the fuck did you go to jail? Why the fuck did you say you killed him in court?” Mrs Stone lost control. Ethan was not surprised. He was quiet. He knew his mother had reached her maximum level of patience. He knew very well that his mother only used swear words when she was extremely angry, which she rarely did. Ethan could tell her mother was triggered, and that was when he decided to spill it out to his mother. “I did not kill the man. Ava did,” Ethan said and paused briefly, taking a quick glance at his mother before focusing back on the road. The words hit Mrs Stone like a ton of bricks. She went speechless as she stared at Ethan without any words. The silence was enough words to say Ethan nodded in the affirmative without any words, as if to confirm what he had said. “You went to jail because your wife
CHAPTER 25
A ROLLERCOASTER OF EMOTIONS: A BAD FEELING? BOARD MEETING OF GLAMOUR LUXE INC. “I think it is important we take the idea of Mr David as well. We just have to make sure we are doing the right thing after all. They could be doing something different to screw us over, and we have to be careful with them. I will let my private investigator commence investigations immediately, and you all will be updated with the findings.” Emily stated The meeting continued with each of the board members expressing concern about the happenings at the launch. All of them expressed their displeasure and advocated for Jake and Ava to be investigated privately and thoroughly. They also agreed to make changes in the contract and add clauses that will ensure them of having the freedom to back out at any point in time without any legal issues, just to be on the safer side. They all came to a unanimous decision to be present at the meeting between the two and Emily. They were all going to be there to ask th
CHAPTER 26
HE IS BACK FOR REVENGE ************ Jake was still pacing on the balcony nervously. Although what Ava said about visiting Ethan's mother's house was true, he knew he could not just sit and watch. “Give me the address to the house of Ethan’s mother,” he finally said, breaking the silence. “What?!” Ava exclaimed “Yes. Give me the address of the house. I am not going there, but I will send some boys to go there and survey the place. At least we will know whether or not he stays there. Even if he is not, if we get his mother, we can get him to back down until we are able to get what we want,” Jake explained. “Listen, babe. We are already broke as hell, and we are barely staying alive now. You can't give our little money to those guys to look for Ethan. Let's focus on ourselves and get what we want. If we get the contract, we will have all the money to do what we want. We can't just do things impromptu here. We are already broke, and you are aware of that We are lite
CHAPTER 27
A BROKEN HOME FOR AN ORDEAL It took Ethan, his mum and the two men thirty minutes to finish their meals, amidst the constant stares from people in the restaurant. Five minutes after the meal, they were back on the road, heading to Redwood. Ethan and his mother continued conversing while they continued the journey. “I noticed the drugs in the room you went to pick. What's wrong?” Ethan enquired of his mother. Mrs Stone shook her head. “It's a lot. I've been experiencing a lot of issues for years, ever since you were sent away. I have had my blood pressure rise and even had a heart attack before. The doctor says it's all stress. He said I needed rest and a good diet, but since I can't afford a good meal and struggle to sleep well, I'm never healing. I have stopped visiting the doctor altogether because I am unable to pay for my medical fees. I just try to be okay.” Mrs Stone replied. Ethan shook his head in the negative. “Don't worry. You will be fine. You will be okay now
CHAPTER 28
THEY MUST GO DOWN Ethan drove into his house and parked the car in the garage. He unbuckled his seat belt and heaved a sigh. Ethan got out of the car and went to open the door for his mother. “Welcome home, Mama. This is where I stay. It's not big, but this is where I am, and I know you will like it,” Ethan said as he helped his mother get down from the car. Mrs Stone looked around the house, astonished. He began walking around her, looking at the compound and admiring the place. Ethan took the opportunity to meet the escort and thanked them. He took out his wallet, took out some money and began counting it, handing it over to the two men “I am sorry, sir, but we can’t accept anything. We were only obeying our master's command. We are just here to serve you for the day, and we can't accept anything from you.” The leader said. “Well, sir. I do insist you take this. As a tip. You have done well, riding for over three hours just for me. Take this as a tip. I don't have any plac
CHAPTER 29
REGRET YOUR DECISION Thirty minutes later, the duo were done with their conversation, and Ethan was ready to leave. “Before I go, I need one last thing from you ” Ethan stated “I need a very good fashion designer for my mother. I just brought her to the city today, and I didn't take anything with her because I know I'm going to get things for her. If you have any fashion designers’ numbers, kindly give them to me so I can hit them up and get some new clothes for my mother.” Ethan asked Mr David. Mr David nodded in the affirmative with a smile on his face “Yes … yes, my wife has one, and I can get her to get you the number of the fashion designer; just give me a minute while I call her,” Mr David said as he pulled out his phone from his pocket. He dialled a number and placed the phone to his ear, speaking to the receiver silently. Mr David spoke on the phone for a minute and hung up. “She is sending me the number. Let me quickly look at it and forward the number to you,” Mr Da

LIFE OF THE RICH, DEVOID OF EMOTIONS Emily had closed from the meeting about two hours ago and hung around in the office, attending to some important things. Taking care of seven corporations all by herself was no joke at all, and very soon, she was sure her grandfather was going to add some more corporations to her. She was working her life off to make sure the family business was a success, and surprisingly, she was doing it perfectly. Ever since she took over, profits have begun skyrocketing, and the corporations have begun flourishing more. Although they were doing well in her grandfather's care, she was getting the companies relatively higher in status In total, the Winsors had eleven world-class corporations in various industries: finance, agriculture, business, transport, beauty, clothing, energy, sanitation, and environmental protection. The eleven corporations span these various sectors and had hundreds of companies, hundreds of CEOs, thousands of managers, and millions
