CHAPTER 331
COURT IN TURMOIL“Good morning, my lord. I am Ryan and I am here to represent the five persons accused as their state attorney, master Eddy Blankson and his friends. I will start off by acknowledging the fact that the prosecution had dropped some of the charges that were levelled against my client as of the last time the court was in session, which had been raised again in this session. And I did not quite understand why there was a change in the number of charges being levelled against my client in two different court sessions in succession. This is a clear breach of the law and I believe that your honour has to take charge and see to it that the other charges are being taken down. Considering the fact that it was not part of the original charges levelled against my clients.” The lawyer said and paused, looking around the courtroom and then at the judge.Everyone went quiet in a courtroom as the lawyer waited for an answer from the judge. Judge Grant looked at the lawyer and shook

TURNED UPSIDE DOWNWhen everywhere went silent on the order of the bailiff, the lawyer continued with his submission“again if he was indeed a medical doctor, how come he did not treat her in his hospital but according to them, he treated her in the house? Which doctor treats patients in such critical conditions in the house? With which sorts of equipment? It is clear that this is a fabricated lie against my clients; let me go on to expose them even further.Since he has not received any medical education, how was he able to heal her? They claimed she was really ill without the original medical doctors who had received training and years of experience being able to treat her.According to experts, such issues have little to no remedy, and that little remedy is by extensive and intensive surgery in a controlled environment, all of which was clearly not done. Now, since there is not even a single evidence of the claim that she was left in a vegetative state after being injected with a w

PRESENT FACTS“Sounds like I have answered your question. Let us continue with the proceedings. I will give each and every one of you five minutes to respond to or clear any doubts from your opponent, and then, after that, we will call out the witnesses to come and stand in a box so we can cross-examine them and continue from there. So let us begin with the plaintiff. You have got five minutes, starting now,” Judge Grant said, gesturing at Mr David to speak.Mr David stood up from his seat, took a quick glance at the defendant, and then at the judge before speaking. "Your honour, I would like to clear up a few things my colleague here might have been confused about. I am going to address a few points he made, and I am going to start addressing them one after the other within the five-minute time limit. So, here we go…My lord, let me start from where my learned colleague said that his clients are all very innocent of all the allegations being given to him. Firstly, he mentioned tha

ALL DOUBTS CLEAREDHe resumed speaking after a few seconds.“When my learned colleague was speaking, he stated, and I quote,‘I would like to state categorically that there is no evidence of the plaintiff being sick and being in a vegetative state. There is no record, nothing official, just word of mouth and claims by the plaintiff and the prosecution.’This is what my learned colleague said, but unfortunately, he failed to acknowledge that we had submitted evidence of our claims. My client was indeed left in a vegetative state due to the effect of the drug that was injected into her by the accused. This evidence can be found in the first piece of evidence we submitted as part of our investigations and in the hospital logbook of the hospital to which my client was sent after she was found by her parents in that state. The hospital documented every single step of the way, right from when she was brought in, down to the drugs she was administered, the procedures she was put through, and

COURT IN SESSIONHe continued reading out the defendant's words to make his point.“‘This is clear to state that Mr and Mrs Anderson didn't find the need to report to the police about the issue regarding their daughter for reasons best known to them, and that could only mean one thing: there was no critical situation to begin with.’That is what my opponent said.Your honour, as I mentioned earlier, my client went home that day and went to her room, locking herself in.Her parents only found out about the situation the next day, and in all logic and sense, when you find someone unable to speak and practically dying, the first place you take her is the hospital, not the police.I agree the police should have been involved at some point, but it is clear my client's parents were concerned for her health, and that is why they took her to the hospital instead of the police. It is common sense to seek medical care for your daughter before going to the police; in cases where the real emergen

EVIDENCE WITH BASISIn exactly five minutes everybody was seated and the judge entered the courtroom. They all stood up to acknowledge his presence with the command of the bailiff.Judge Grant entered and sat down. After everybody was seated, the judge resumed speaking, and the court resumed progress“You are all welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. Our five-minute recess is over. Now we have heard from the prosecution, the plaintiff and from the defendant. We have also had the defendant give their account on the refuting of issues as well as the clearance of any contradictions that may be raised by opponents, by submission of reasonable evidence. Now we will move on to cross-examination. However, before that, the prosecution presented a few pieces of evidence together with the witnesses and we will have to review that evidence. Therefore, we will give the prosecution a bit of time to explain their evidence and how exactly they are linked to the case before we move on to the cross

TIME TO CONFIRM THE TRUTHIke paused to catch his breath. He swapped the paper in his hand and resumed his reading.“My Lord, continuing, the fourth piece of evidence concerns the contractual agreement between Mr Ethan Stone and Mr Anderson, the father of Miss Keziah Anderson. The document sets out the treatment plan and process for Miss Keziah's disease, with an effective start date. According to the document, Mr Ethan Stone entered into an agreement with Miss Keziah Anderson's parents to heal her of her ailment in return for a particular amount of money and with a few terms and conditions. That document has also been submitted to the court today as evidence. The fifth piece of evidence submitted was from the hospital where Miss Keziah was supposedly taken when her parents found out she had the ailment. There are two documents in this case. One contains the hospital logbook of when exactly Miss Keziah Anderson was brought in, including her state when she was brought into the hospital

THE NARRATION“Miss Keziah Anderson…” Mr David began.“... I believe you are doing quite well. For the purpose of clarity in this court, I would like you to state your name, where you are from, and what you do,” Mr David asked.Keziah nodded and replied,"My name is Keziah Anderson. I am from the Cley Islands, and I run a boutique, although it is currently on hold and we are looking at bringing it back onto the market.""Right, thank you. Now, Miss Keziah, I would like you to give us a brief narration of what exactly transpired between you and the first accused, who was then your boyfriend, Mr Eddy Blankson – how your relationship started, how it turned out, and particularly on the day of the unfortunate incident, what exactly transpired between you and him.I would like these details so that the court will note exactly what happened in comparison with what the prosecution brought to the court. I would like you to give a short and vivid description of the entire scenario for the purpo

MAN OF THE MOMENTKeziah continued with her narration.“When he finally untied me, I saw three men with him in the room, and they were staring at me with smiling faces….” Keziah could not complete her sentence as Mr David quickly interrupted her."Can you hold it there for a minute for me?" Mr David asked."Ms Keziah, would you be able to identify these three men when you see them?"Keziah nodded in the affirmative. "Yes, I can," she answered."Are they here in the court today?"She nodded again. "Yes, they are.""Can you point to those three men you saw with your then boyfriend, please?" Mr David asked her.She nodded and pointed in the direction of the defence. "The first three people sitting right beside Eddy are the same people I saw when the blindfold was removed," she responded.Mr David smiled and nodded. "Thank you, Ms Keziah. My Lord, let it be on record that my client has been able to identify the three men she saw when she was finally free to see. This goes on to confirm th

CONTRADICTIONS IN DISPLAY“I saw a lot of doctors and nurses around me, and they were working on me, trying to work out exactly what was wrong with me. My parents were there too. I could move my eyes and see everything clearly. I could also hear everything they said, but I could not speak or move any part of my body. I wanted to tell them exactly what had happened to me, but there was no way to do that, as I could not even produce any sound from my mouth. I could only see and hear them. That went on for some number of days and months. I had lost count of how many days I had been sick because, when I was finally taken home from the hospital, I was always kept indoors in my room and did not know day from night. But eventually, one day, Doctor Ethan came to my room with my father and began his healing process. He realised I could see everything and hear clearly, even though my parents thought I could not hear.Shortly after, about a month later, I began to move some parts of my uppe
