CHAPTER SIXTY-ONE
Elias found himself staring at the same photo he had secretly obtained, one he felt could tarnish Vira's reputation in seconds. He already had an idea, but he was not sure if he should execute it just yet. Before proceeding with anything, he wanted to ensure that she was worthy of whatever blow he intended to repay her with.Whenever he remembered how she had left, he usually experienced a whole new set of emotions. Was it how she had left without signing the divorce papers? Or how they were still tied together by marriage even though they had been separated for weeks? To make matters worse, he learned from his assistant that she had started working elsewhere. This infuriated him even more because he wants nothing more than to see her face the consequences of leaving him.Their relationship had revolved entirely around money. Nothing else mattered. But that wasn't his problem since he also had his reasons for marrying her. He had been after her l
CHAPTER SIXTY-TWO
Jace woke up early enough to attempt his last quest. He got into the bathroom to freshen up and came out only to find Nova sleeping on the couch.Jace exhaled as he stared at her.He remembered telling her to find somewhere to rest last night since his house might be unsafe for her. He had watched her leave after securing a lodge for her. However, what he did not remember was opening the door to let her in again. She must have gotten in by herself!Glancing again towards her direction, he wondered if she would be okay after he left. After he finishes dressing up, Jace walks over to her sleeping body and thinks of waking her up. A few minutes later, he decided to leave her alone and left a note by her side, assuring her that he would return and that she should be cautious around the house. He knew she might find it weird for him to say that but that was what he needed to do if she was to survive a day at his house. When he was certain it was safe to leave, he stood up and took a deep b
CHAPTER SIXTY-THREE
Serex stared at the ceiling, lost in thought after the strange dream he had about Kael. The sweat on his body was already drying up, but his clothes were still damp. The dream had been terrifying, putting him in an uncomfortable state.Serex knew something was not right. It was unusual for him to have such dreams, especially when they were related to reality. Was it because he thought a lot about his brother? he asked himself. He was certain that dreams like that occur after much thought about a specific problem, but could he also claim that was the cause of his own?He sighed deeply and rested his head against the wall. Kael was in danger, he was sure of that. Worse still, he knew nothing about where he had been taken to.Suddenly, the door creaked open and Serex averted his gaze to it. His heart thudded in his chest as the shadow of a person could be seen. When he peered closely, he saw Veyra sneaking her way in with a tray of food. She raised her finger to her mouth and motioned fo
CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR
“Kael.” Jace repeated as they cornered him again. The name sounded familiar. Was it… “...no way,” he finally said out loud, “it can't be.” |[Focus – 80%] Fuck! He exclaimed in his mind. Just as one of the men was about to attack, Jace found himself dodging instantly, he slid beneath the creature's open legs and came out in the opposite direction. “What do I need to do?” he asked himself. |[Kill The Central Host] “Fuck! I know!” he said, already feeling frustrated, “don't you have a hint or something?” There was a response. When he looked up, he noticed the men had already split again and were approaching him from different directions. Jace held his sword tightly and directed it towards them. The first struck and Jace struck back, sending them flying a few inches away. But it did not end there as they kept on coming, ready to attack.

CHAPTER SIXTY-FIVE
“Do you think we will ever be free?” Vira asked Veyra as they both walked out of the lab.Veyra halted in her steps then turned to face Vira. She stared at her for a while before resuming walking. With annoyance in her eyes, Vira approached her and held her shoulder, turning it to face her.“What did you do that for?” Veyra asked in anger.“Why do you always ignore me?” she questioned. “It's very obvious that you despise me, but can you at least answer my questions?”“Your questions are irrelevant.”“How so?” Vira questioned. “Because you can figure out your way around?”Veyra shot her another glance and sighed. Only if the lady before her would understand how hard it was.“Yeah,” Vira said, nodding slowly.”I knew that was the reason. You're just being selfish! You know how to help but you don't want to.”Veyra sighed again, already getting angry.“Vira, look–”Vira shook her head quic
CHAPTER SIXTY-SIX
Vira sat at a little cafe shop situated a few metres outside the institute with a mug in hand. The liquid inside was hot, so she wrapped her hands around it to keep them warm. After Veyra had left with Ryker, she had come down to this place to seek solace, something she needed at the moment. However, she found it hard to feel at ease, not with her racing thoughts and mind. Jace Her thoughts returned to him. When was she going to see him? Who knows, perhaps he will save her from this mess. She sighed. What if he wanted nothing to do with her? Suddenly, her phone dinged. She took her final sip before setting the mug on the table. When the warmth in her hand subsided, she picked up the phone, wondering who had remembered to text her. Then she caught sight of the sender's name and hesitated for a few seconds. Elias. “What the hell does he want?” she asked herself as she opened the message. A photo caught her eyes, making her heart skip a beat. She quickly opened the picture to
CHAPTER SIXTY-SEVEN
Ryker and Serex walked in silence till they got to the main exit. Serex paused, staring intently at the door handle. Ryker halted behind the man, waiting for him to make his next move. All of a sudden, Serex turned to face him. The latter's eyes widened in surprise as he noticed Serex open his mouth to speak. Just then, he closed it back and turned towards the door. Ryker knew the man wanted to tell him something, but just couldn't. As he watched Serex walk out of the building, he could only stare from behind. He knew Serex was planning something out of line, but there was nothing he could do, except hope that things would get better for him. When he turned to head back to his post, thoughts of his sister filled his head again. Was she coping in Draxion? He could not tell, not until he set his eyes on her. However, on second thought, she was bound to survive. His sister was not ordinary, she could figure out her way, even in a maze. What hard task could she possibly face in that
CHAPTER SIXTY-EIGHT
“Would you mind telling me how you got in last night?” Jace asked Nova as he handed her the plates. When she glanced at the bread on the plates, she almost chuckled. “I can't imagine there is something you're not good at.” she said, taking one last look at the almost burnt food.Jace shrugged. “Well, I tried.”At the very least, he did his best, even if it was unthinkable on his part to assume the system knew a skill that could help him make toast. He had requested help from it, only to end up seeing a blank reply from the system.“Guess it doesn't deal with that.” he had concluded in his mind.He had never imagined himself making toast or even making breakfast, except tea or coffee. But since his workers were away, he had no one to help and had to fend for himself for a while.“Let me help with tea.” Nova offered.Jace refused. “Nevermind. I think I can pull this off by myself.”With a slight smile, she left t
CHAPTER SIXTY-NINE
In the V-8 laboratory Veyra was going around checking the specimens in the glass chamber while Vira stood watching her. The latter had made up her mind not to speak to her unless she was being spoken to. Her trial at starting up a conversation had failed multiple times, so she figured it was best to keep quiet for a while. As Veyra strolled to each of the chambers, she took note of each specimen’s recovery, health status and the quick healing around their head where the operation had taken place. Operation Holloway was now nearing its end and she could not wait to update Lazik on the status. It was not long before the double doors opened, allowing Lazik and two of his men in. He was bearing a serious look on his face as he approached Veyra, ignoring Vira who stood at one corner. When he arrived at Veyra, he paused and looked around, observing each chamber before focusing on Veyra.“What is their condition?” he inquired.“They are fairing well. The new core appears to provide each o

The next place Serex visited after leaving the Institute was Riven Enterprise. He strolled in with eyes peeking at every corner searching for his boss. He was already aware of Jace's workaholic nature, owing to the fact that he always kept his business first. Perhaps that was why he refused to help him. On second thought, he noticed that everything was running smoothly as usual, which led him to believe that his boss had been working hard rather than looking for ways to use his influence to help him. Serex clenched his jaws and ignored the prying eyes around him. Then he put his hand in his and felt the tube in it. He recalled being given it by Lazik who had told him to use it on Jace. “Jace is not who you think he is. You will need something to subdue him first.” Lazik had told him before handing him the syringe-like tube containing yellow bubbling liquid. Now he felt the tube, he realized that he had even failed to inquire about the contents of the container and its effects on t
