Chapter 1: Shen.
Shen was a man of principle. Ambition. He did his best to get whatever it was that he desired, morals be damned. It mattered not if he was right or wrong, or had, say, slightly taken advantage of a certain woman's compromised state the night before – like the one currently looming over him, drenching him in ice water without even a good morning."YOU!" she shrieked, the water jug wobbling precariously in her hand, splashing onto the bed and floor."Yes, me! Hi, The name's Sh...""You rapist! What did you do to me?" she screamed, her voice reaching a pitch usually reserved for shattering glass.Shen blinked. Once. Twice, before slowly lifting his hands in supplication, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, sweetheart, let's not jump to conclusions because I did no such thing.""Yes, you did! You lying, low-down, son-of-a… Where are my clothes? My bag? And who sent you to assassinate me, or rape me?" She was officially on a roll.Shen rolled his eyes, mentally calculating the odds of successfully calmin
Chapter 2: Gold Master.
"For God's sake, woman! I don't exactly enjoy being assaulted on my gorgeous face," Shen cursed, rubbing his stinging cheek. It really hurt!Rosa covered her body but looked paler than usual. Her breathing was laboured and lacking, her eyes blurring, her arms weakened even as she held her clothes tightly but her voice was still strong."Then don't paw at me like some barbarian! Just because last night happened doesn't give you the right to manhandle me," Rosa snapped.Shen scratched his jaw, exasperated. "I was merely attempting to assist with your… condition," he said honestly. But Rosa wasn't buying it."Liar! What could a low-born like you possibly know about medicine?" she scoffed. Shen tilted his head, considering her. The thought of just walking away was tempting, but… nah."Well, if you must know, I was trained by the greatest Master in the East. Now, are we going to do this or not? , we don't have much time so open your chest so I can save you," Shen offered, all smiles."Do
Chapter 3: Wedding Crasher.
Shen drove his car through the city as fast as he could without causing a stir. He didn't want to waste any more time, he had more important things to think about, but neither was he looking forward to crashing in on her wedding with another man.Up ahead he could see the estate look ahead before him. He slowed down considerably the closer he got, drove into the estate and wasn't stopped by the guards at the gate. Although he told Jin to get him a simple car, Jin tended to overdo things sometimes. His car could literally buy a small island. The estate was swarming with luxury cars, but Shen managed to squeeze into a parking spot.He quickly came down from the car and walked into the mansion in the middle of the estate. Although Shen preferred to dress simply and most times casual, he definitely felt out of place.Everyone else he could spot either wore the most expensive clothes that money could buy or ceaselessly flaunted their wealth. But Shen didn't mind, whatever one chose to
Chapter 4: A Day to Remember.
Mai was visibly shaken, beyond shaken. She had been ignored by Rosa Han? For Shen? It defied all logic. She turned to look at Rosa walking up to Shen and saw her talk to him so casually.Like they were friends.Mai felt like spiralling. But she held it back. This had to be a big misunderstanding, right?Straightening her shoulders, the bride marched over to Rosa with determination. "Lady Han, with all due respect, I believe you've mistaken this man for someone important. This 'Shen' is nothing but a leech. Please, be careful," Mai said, trying to maintain her composure.Rosa turned, raised an eyebrow, and then ignored Mai again. Mai felt like she had been sucker punched. A wave of pure terror washed over her. She felt weakened at her knees like she was about to fall. This disgrace was overwhelming, and suffocating. Then Mai felt a strong hand holding her firmly, she turned to look at her groom. Tomoe gave her a reassuring look."Calm yourself. I know Lady Han. I'll warn her about
Chapter 5: Saving the clan's Head
The black, sleek car rolled into an exquisite estate. It was vast; wealth was splattered and poured out like the numerous fountains that could be seen. It felt like a quarter of the entire wealth in the East could be found here.Rosa and Shen got out of the car, and, sure enough, the woman began walking very fast as she led the way. As the Han family heiress, panic was a luxury she couldn’t afford—her every step demanded poise. Yet inside, fear clenched her chest like an iron fist. Her grandfather’s life was slipping away.Shen, on the other hand, looked quite amazed at the art, the sculptures that seemed handmade, and how gorgeous the estate was.Shen was a lover of art; anywhere he went, he deeply appreciated it and sought meaning in it.But sadly, he couldn't engage in his hobbies right now, due to the fast pace set by the heiress With a pout , he followed Rosa into one of the Mansions, clearly the largest one by far. They ran up the stairs where no eyes could see them, and on
Chapter 6: Foolish Doctor
Silence descended, quickly morphing into shock and surprise. Doctor Fang reacted immediately, rushing to the Han Family Head and closely examining his body. Having not witnessed the Family Head's condition before Shen's intervention, Doctor Fang remained unaware of the extent of the improvement. To him, the Family Head's life hung precariously in the balance, demanding immediate action. He dropped his medical bag and began rummaging through it."What happened here? Explain yourself!" he demanded, his voice sharp and authoritative.Doctor Mark stammered, "I... I don't know, Doctor Fang."But Doctor Fang ignored him, his focus entirely on the patient. He examined the Han Family Head with practised expertise, checking his pulse, his breathing, and the colour of his skin. His brow furrowed deeper with each passing moment."These needles..." Doctor Fang muttered, his fingers hovering over the golden acupuncture points. "What kind of technique is this? I've never seen anything like it.
Chapter 7: The Auction
Far off in Ling City, a grand building stood tall. It was made of precious stones and expensive art.It was dripping with wealth. The driveways were silver, the doors gold.Even the doorknobs had rubies and sapphires. It was the GOLDMASTER's place, though many didn't really know it.Tonight, the auction would be held there. It wasn't just any auction; it was the event of the year, a gathering of the most powerful and influential people in the land. Invitations were coveted, and those who received them knew they had reached the pinnacle of society.Important people from all over the country came. Dignitaries and royals arrived in their finest attire, their retinues trailing behind them like colorful banners.Dukes and duchesses, princes and princesses, all eager to partake in the spectacle and perhaps acquire a rare treasure or two. Thankfully, the place was big enough for everyone who could afford to be there. The estate sprawled across acres of land, its gardens transformed into
Chapter 8: Shameless Acts.
Tomoe enjoyed being admired. The feeling was intoxicating, a heady rush. He had always craved attention, and now he was finally getting it, even if it was based on a lie.The attention made him feel good. It fueled his ego and stroked all his feathers.‘How does the GOLDMASTER deal with this all the time? Does he ever get tired of being worshipped?' he couldn't help but wonder.Shen approached him, a knowing smile playing on his lips. "My good man, you said you know Master Jin? How did you come to know him?"Tomoe paused, caught off guard. He hadn't anticipated such a direct question. He hadn't thought this far ahead, because people in these settings rarely pressed for details. And wasn't this the same man who had humiliated him at his wedding? What was he doing here, and why was he targeting him?"Well? Are you going to answer, or are you just going to stare like a frog trapped in a well?" Shen pressed, his voice carrying just enough to draw attention. Whispers rippled through t
Chapter 9: The Price of Stupidity
The auction commenced with a gong so loud it rattled the wine in everyone's glasses. Velvet curtains parted, revealing a radiant stage, lavishly decorated with gold, shimmering silk drapes, and expertly positioned lighting that allowed every guest an unobstructed view. A collective hush fell over the room as nobles whispered, shuffled, and adjusted their seats, their faces a mixture of excitement and anticipation. They expected a spectacle, and they were eager to witness it.Shen reclined lazily in his seat beside Rosa Han, his long legs crossed casually. One hand propped up his cheek, while the other rhythmically tossed a candied almond into his mouth, savoring the sweet and slightly sour taste. He appeared utterly unconcerned with the unfolding events, a stark contrast to the palpable tension in the room.Rosa leaned closer, her voice a mere whisper, yet filled with urgency. “Shen, you have to help me identify the right herb. If you do… I’ll buy you anything you want. Just name it
Chapter 10: The Heart
Shen stared at the velvet box, his senses heightened. He could see the plant inside, its color slightly off. He could detect no vacuum seal, and he couldn't even perceive the unique scent of the Heart of Jintai from where he sat, which was highly unusual. And the auctioneer was describing it as if it were some kind of miracle cure, which the Heart of Jintai never was. That thing didn’t give life… it stopped death, preserving what little remained.Shen shook his head, his expression dismissive. “It’s not the one.”Tomoe, who had been eagerly waiting for a chance to clap back at Shen and regain his lost prestige, seized the opportunity instantly.“Of course he says that!” he laughed loudly, his voice dripping with sarcasm, garnering the attention of the other guests. “It’s because he can’t afford it!”The guests snickered and giggled, all nodding their heads in agreement. They were eager to see Shen taken down a peg. Tomoe turned to Shen, smiling smugly, his eyes filled with malicio
