The Arrival
The morning sun rested weakly over Ravenswood Boarding High. The old stone walls looked dark, almost like they were hiding secrets. Axel Vega walked slowly through the main gates, his shoulders low, his arms tight around a stack of worn-out books. His shoes were torn at the sides, the sole of the left one almost coming off. He kept his eyes on the ground, hoping no one would notice him.But people always noticed.“Look who crawled back from the trash,” Damian sneered as he stepped out of the crowd. He was taller, stronger, with sharp eyes that always searched for trouble. He pushed Axel hard against the lockers, and the books slipped out of Axel’s hands, scattering across the hallway floor.Laughter erupted around them. Mason bent down, picked up Axel’s homework, and waved it like a trophy. “This is mine now. Thanks for the effort, loser.” He stuffed it into his bag, ignoring Axel’s quiet protest.“Say something, mute boy,” Sophia said from behind Mason. She leaned against the loc
The Mockery
“Axel, this is excellent work,” Professor Grant said, holding Axel’s paper high. The class grew quiet for a second. Axel sat at the back, his head down, wishing the attention would fade away. But Damian smirked, leaning back in his chair. “Excellent work? That’s funny. It looks like trash to me.”The class burst into laughter.“Yeah, Professor,” another boy shouted. “Are you sure you read it right?”Professor Grant frowned, but before he could speak, Mason dragged Axel’s bag from under his desk. “Hey, where’s the right place for garbage?” Mason asked loudly.Everyone watched as he shoved the bag into the classroom trash can.The room roared with more laughter.Axel’s face burned red. He wanted to stand, to say something, but the words refused to come out.Sophia leaned forward, covering her nose dramatically. “Ugh, is it just me or does it smell in here? Oh wait—it’s Axel.”Students laughed again.Axel pressed his hands into his desk, nails digging into the wood. He looked around, sea
The Betrayal
Axel walked into class early that morning, holding his books close to his chest. He wanted a little peace before the noise and trouble started. The classroom was quiet, only the sound of his shoes against the floor. For a moment, Axel felt calm.He placed his books on the desk and sat down.“Maybe today will be different,” he whispered to himself. But peace never lasted long.Damian walked in with a smirk on his face. He spotted Axel sitting alone. “Look who came early, the little nerd,” Damian said loudly, making sure everyone heard.Axel looked down, hoping to ignore him.Damian came closer. “Stand up,” he ordered.Axel shook his head. “I don’t want any trouble.”But Damian didn’t care. He stuck his foot out and tripped Axel as he tried to move. Axel fell forward, his books scattering all over the floor. The class burst into laughter.Sophia, who sat at the back, quickly raised her phone. “This is perfect,” she giggled while recording the whole thing.Axel’s face burned red. He pick
The punishment
“Axel, what are you doing outside after curfew?” Headmistress Rowan’s voice was sharp.Axel froze under the moonlight. His books were still clutched in his hands. He looked tired, his hair messy from running.“I was in the library, Headmistress,” Axel said quickly. “I was just coming back. Please, I wasn’t trying to break any rules.”Rowan’s eyes narrowed. “The rules are simple. No student outside after curfew. You know that.”“But the door was locked,” Axel said, his voice shaking. “Damian and Sophia… they locked me out as a prank. I couldn’t get inside.”Rowan did not blink. “Excuses. You will serve detention tonight.”Axel’s jaw dropped. “But—”“No more words,” Rowan said coldly. “Follow me.”Damian and Sophia were laughing in the dorm room. Music whispered low from the small box they had stolen, and the glow of candles lit up their faces.“He will be scrubbing floors all night,” Sophia said with a cruel smile. “Can you imagine him begging Rowan to believe him?”Damian smirked. “Se
The Secret crush
The classroom was quiet except for the sound of pages turning. Professor Grant stood at the front, holding a book in his hand. His sharp eyes moved around the room.“Lena,” he said suddenly. “Please read the next passage.”Lena froze. Her fingers shook as she picked up the book. Her heart raced, not because of the professor, but because she felt Axel’s eyes on her. Axel sat near the back, silent as always, his messy dark hair falling into his face.Lena took a shaky breath and started reading, but her voice broke.“Lo… love is… like—” She stopped, her cheeks red. She could feel Axel watching her.Damian, who sat two seats away, smirked. “Hey, Lena,” he said loudly, so the whole class could hear. “Why are you stuttering? Oh, I get it. You’re staring at the loser.”The class laughed. Lena’s face burned.Sophia, with her perfect smile, leaned forward. “Aw, isn’t it cute? Our little Lena has a crush on Axel.”“I don’t!” Lena said quickly, her voice trembling. “I don’t like him!”But her d
The Last Laugh
“Axel, are you here again?” Chloe whispered as she pushed the heavy library door open.Axel jumped at the sound of her voice. His hands were dusty from arranging books that no one ever read. He turned and forced a smile.“Yes… I like it here. Nobody bothers me in this place.”Chloe stepped inside, closing the door softly behind her. She looked around at the tall shelves, the old lamps, and the quiet shadows.“You mean no one bothers you except me,” she teased gently.Axel shook his head. “You’re different, Chloe. You don’t laugh at me like they do. You don’t make me feel small.”Her eyes softened. She walked closer, her voice low. “I just want you to know you’re not alone.”Before Axel could answer, loud voices echoed outside the library. The laughter of Damian and Mason carried through the walls like a cruel song.“Did you see his face yesterday?” Mason laughed.“Pathetic,” Damian replied. “Always hiding in there like a scared rat. Let’s give him something to remember.”Axel froze. H
The first bite
The library was too quiet. The air felt heavy, and every step echoed like thunder.Axel held his breath as he crouched behind a tall shelf. In his hand, he clutched nothing but an old wooden ruler. His knuckles were white from holding it too tight. It was not a weapon, but it was all he had.Beside him, Chloe pressed against the shelf. Her body trembled, but her eyes did not. They burned with a strange courage that Axel had never seen before.“Axel,” she whispered, her voice almost broken. “It’s coming closer.”“I know,” Axel whispered back, his throat dry.The pale figure moved slowly between the rows of books. Its skin was gray and cracked, like dry mud. Its eyes were empty, but its mouth stretched open, showing sharp yellow teeth. Every step it took sent dust falling from the shelves.Axel’s heart pounded so hard he thought the creature could hear it.The pale figure stopped. It turned its head slowly, listening. Then, with a sudden scream, it lunged forward, knocking down books an
Locked Gates
“Run!” Damian shouted as his voice echoed down the long hall. The school was in chaos. Students screamed and pushed each other, trying to escape. Feet pounded against the floor. Lockers slammed. The sound of glass breaking came from the science lab.But the worst sound of all was the growl—the horrible deep growl of the infected as they stumbled through the halls, their skin pale and broken.Nurse Evelyn pulled a bleeding teacher, Mr. Harlan, into her office. His shirt was soaked with blood.“Stay with me!” Evelyn cried, pressing her hands on his wound.“I… I can’t…” Mr. Harlan whispered. His eyes rolled back as his skin turned gray.“No, no, no!” Evelyn cried, shaking her head. “Not you too!”His skin started to peel under her touch. Evelyn stumbled back, tears streaming down her face.Meanwhile, Headmistress Rowan stood in front of the iron gates outside the main hall. Her voice shook as she raised her hand.“Everyone calm down!” she ordered. “No one leaves. The gates stay locked.”
The Tunnel Below
The tunnel was cold and heavy with dust. The smell of rot filled the air, making every breath hard. Axel held a small torch in one hand and Chloe’s wrist in the other. The flame shook against the damp stone walls. The sound of dripping water echoed like faint whispers.Chloe pressed closer to him. “I don’t like this place, Axel. It feels… wrong.”Axel gave her hand a squeeze. “Stay close. Nothing will happen to you while I’m here.”Her eyes softened at his words. Even in this dark, haunted place, her fear could not wash away the strange warmth she felt for him. She leaned her head against his arm for a moment, drawing courage from him.The walls narrowed the deeper they went. Strange carvings covered the stones—symbols that looked older than the school above them. They were not letters anyone could read. They looked like warnings.Chloe reached out and touched one. “What do these mean? Who put them here?”Axel shook his head. “I don’t know. But it feels like the dead are watching us.”
The Blood Moon
“Something is wrong with the blood,” Nurse Evelyn whispered, her voice shaking as she leaned over the table.“What do you mean?” one of the students asked, his face pale.“The blood changes… look at it.” Evelyn pointed at the sample under the glass. The veins of red inside were glowing faintly under the light of the moon shining through the window. “It’s not normal. The blood turns darker… and it shines under the moonlight.”Up above Ravenswood, the sky was covered in a strange red glow. The blood moon had risen. Its light spilled across the town like a curse.Evelyn gasped. “The moon… It’s waking something inside them.”The halls of the academy echoed with coughing at first. Students leaned against walls, clutching their chests. But then, one by one, they collapsed on the floor. Their bodies twitched. Their eyes snapped open—now glowing red like burning coals.Lena peeked from behind the library door. Her breath caught when she saw it.“God, no…” she whispered, covering her mouth. He
