Chapter 51
Ariel stared into Jeremy’s eyes, it was the deepest blue she had ever seen. “Even if you plan to pay me back, where do you want to get the money? Your measly job can’t get you anywhere close to even a hundred thousand in a year.” Ariel scoffed, placing her hands on her waist. Jeremy looked at her in frustration, she was right. It still didn’t mean that he would give up. “I don’t care how long it takes me, or how many jobs I have to do. I will do it, just to get you off my back.” Jeremy remained adamant. Ariel was stunned, “Why do you want me out of your life so bad?” She asked, lowering her voice. Jeremy’s eyes widened. He wanted her out of his life? She was the one who belittled him at any chance with her annoying brothers. “You shouldn’t be seen with a low-class trash like me, Miss Ariel. I may stain your reputation.” Jeremy uttered. Ariel felt the words were familiar, she had meant the same thing to him throug
Chapter 52
Jeremy’s eyes widened when he heard the voice of the lady. It was rather familiar. However, he couldn’t pinpoint where he had heard it from. It was a very long time ago, but there was no doubt that he had heard the voice before. It was dark, and he could barely see the woman’s face when she pulled away from him. “I’m sorry but I don’t think I have met you before.” Jeremy said, hoping he didn’t hurt her with his words. He couldn’t be blamed as there was no recall of her in his memory. “How could you forget me, boy? Well, if that’s the case. I can only remind you of my name, Lady Mary Verde.” The woman’s face held a bright smile as she spoke. Jeremy was stunned, “Aunt Verde? Is that really you?” He remembered. It had been such a long time. He was barely six years old when this woman had come to visit and since then she had basically disappeared. “Yes dear. It’s me. I have missed you and I know about every

A phone rang noisily, causing Jeremy to jump from his bed. He was late for work and he hadn’t even spent a week there. “Hey Westley, I’m sorry. I was out very late.” Jeremy said drowsily. He tried to fight out the amount of sleep in his eyes, but it wasn’t possible. “Oh? I’m fired? Because I came late?” The sleep left Jeremy at once, and his face contorted in anger. They were the ones who made him work an extra shift because he was new, that was why he had closed late. How could they pin everything on him? “You are joking? That’s an expensive joke, Westley, and I’m not a fan.” Jeremy scoffed, his face relaxed as he stood up from his bed. He wasn’t going to lie, but the fact that he was losing his first job when he had such a huge debt to pay was frightening. He switched off the phone, and entered the bathroom, letting his mind get carried away by Lady Verde’s appearance yesterday. “Should I tell Mom?” Jeremy stood

Jeremy smiled, seeing the appearance of the lady. He would treat this receptionist to a great lesson. The receptionist initially had a frown on his face, he looked at the lady, and his face relaxed. “Excuse me, Ma’am. I’m sorry for the trouble. We are simply evicting this scum from our restaurant.” The receptionist said. He thought he was doing this lady a favor, and his heart was glad, expecting some kind of reward. Before he could say anything else, Lady Verde raised her hand, delivering a loud slap on his face. “How dare you treat my nephew like that? Do you lack manners?” She was furious. The receptionist was stunned, before he could say another word, a man came rushing forward. Jeremy pulled himself from the grip of the guards, glancing at the man that ran forward. There was a tag on his chest that was labelled, ‘manager’. “What’s happening here?” The so-called manager had a grumpy voice when he spoke.

“I know this is a lot to handle but you are the only one I can trust.” Lady Verde said, her eyes on Jeremy as he signed. Jeremy looked at the paper, and smiled back at Lady Verde. He honestly didn’t know what to say. “This is a lot.” He stuttered, trying to get himself. Verde simply nodded, understanding what he was going through. Just as Jeremy was about to say something else, his phone rang, jolting him out of his thoughts. “Yes Naomi? What’s wrong?” Jeremy spoke into the phone, wondering why his sister was calling him at such time. He noticed the glint in Lady Verde’s eyes, causing a small smile to appear on his face. “Okay. I’ll get the ingredients on my way back. You could have just sent a text though. I want you to get the house ready,” Jeremy said, casting a glance at Lady Verde, who was stirring the coffee in her cup. “I’ll be bringing a special someone this evening.” Jeremy said, his smile widening. Lady Verde rai
Chapter 56
“You think we can win this case? I’d be willing to put all my eggs in one basket.” Ariel said, her voice moved to the listener on the other end. She had gotten the documents ready and she had given them to her lawyer. “Why can’t we file a case suit now?” She nearly yelled at the other end. She paced about in the room. Pacing had been a way to calm her down lately. “Okay. I also heard from my sources that he had travelled to another country. With my money.” By this time, Ariel’s face had turned a dangerous shade of red and she couldn’t control herself. “You have to do something about it. This is what I’m paying you for.” With that sentence, she ended the call. There was nothing more to discuss with them. They simply had to find a way to make her money worth the expenses. Her hand went to her phone and she looked at it for a while. The police officer had not called her. Ariel sighed. Things were only getti

Jeremy took the sovereign card in his hand, testing its weight. It was very light. He had to guard it with his life but how? “You can also have this. It came with the card.” Lady Verde reached into her purse, and brought out a silver wallet with an eagle logo engraved on it. It looked exactly like the Sovereign card. It had what looked like a fingerprint sensor on it. “Thank you so much Aunt.” Jeremy was so grateful, bringing the elderly woman into a hug. Lady Verde felt her eyes welling up with tears. She felt Jeremy was like her son. If not for his circumstance, she knew he would have been greater than he was now. Life had a painful way of making jokes. “You are like a son to me, Jeremy. I want to even do more. I told Amy to prepare a car for you. I hope you like it.” Lady Verde’ smile reached her eyes when she spoke. A car? Jeremy’s mind had gone blank. He didn’t know how to thank this
Chapter 58
“I’m glad to hear you have done your job. Right now, I only need to hear how we can bring this people to justice and nothing else.” Ariel said. She was standing in front of some police officers. These people made sure to remember her brutality so they watched their words. “It seems this Stephanie and Twain do not know they are being chased. We would want you to give us some time as we plan to catch them in an unexpected way.” The police officer with more badges on his shoulder, explained his plan to Ariel. Ariel gave him a skeptical look, “How long is this going to take? Time is money and as far as I know, the police is wasting a lot of my money.” She said. The man gulped, raising his eyes to meet her. “Very soon, ma’am. Rest assured.” He answered. Ariel sighed. There was no choice. She simply had to wait, especially now that her uncle had flown out of the country. He had given t

Jeremy walked to the kitchen to prepare a tray of refreshments. He had not wanted to do such things to Amy but she had left him no choice with her reactions towards him, which wasn’t pleasing. After a few minutes, he came out to meet Amy standing by her car. “Why did you have to do that to me?” Amy said, walking towards him in a rage. She was left to burn under the sun. “Have you forgotten your place?” Jeremy said, his voice icy. He narrowed his eyes at Amy, causing her to inwardly shrink. Why didn’t her boss inform her of this man demeanor? “No. I apologize for my outburst.” Amy quickly bowed her head. She had made a wrong description about this man. “Cut off thirty percent of your salary to be paid this month.” Jeremy said, walking away from her. “Brutal!” Amy mumbled under her voice. She had totally misinterpreted this man. He could sack her if he wanted. “Let me help you with that
Chapter 60
The conference meeting had exploded into a room of harsh remarks and most of it was directed at Amy. Jeremy looked around. He had silently marked the faces of those who had spoken, remembering Lady Verde had informed him about the dwindling shares of the company. He leaned in closely to Amy. “Is this how they always are?” He asked. A blush crept to Amy’s face at Jeremy’s sudden decision to close the distance but she was able to maintain her stance. She replied with a short nod. “You must have had it very hard.” He said, his thoughts racing. If Amy, who was Lady Verde’s personal assistant could be disrespected in such a manner, it was likely he would also face worse. There was a sharp glint in his eyes, he would cut off any threats before they had the chance to bloom. “Put Lady Verde on the phone, and connect it to the live presentation board there.” Jeremy said, ensuring that his voice was heard by the rest.
