CHAPTER 41
Kevin and Cecilia finished their dancing. It was pretty much Kevin’s work throughout, and Cecilia simply let herself be a flower that could freely swirl in his hands. While she had the habit of jogging and doing exercise now and then, she still hadn’t sweated as much in a long time. And she liked the heat that generated in her body, not just for the physical work but due to more reasons.Being held by Kevin felt like a dream. She wasn’t sure if this was happening in real life, or if she was just dreaming.Time flew by as she got lost in Kevin’s eyes. He also kept staring at her face, remembering the moments he kissed her in the morning and also the previous night. He felt like kissing her once more. But he wanted to save the best for the honeymoon. While they were both lost in a realm of their own like a newly wed couple, Brago was also frozen in place for a whole different reason. Now that the music stopped, his ears couldn’t help but catch onto the voices drifting past him, most of
CHAPTER 42
“The one Iron rule in this hall is that men and women should only touch each other during dancing,” Brago said with confidence and charisma. “Such a rule is established because we want all the students to focus only on the dance. Nothing else. But here you are…” he cast a dismissive glance at Kevin, “holding an innocent lady’s hand, luring her into a trap she’s not aware that she had already fallen. How devious and conniving!”Brago kept raising his voice, and he believed that he successfully diverted the attention from his loss to Kevin’s questionable character. He believed that he had dug a grave for Kevin, not knowing that he’d end up falling in that grave soon.Kevin let go of Cecilia’s hand and said, “I’m sorry.”Cecilia was surprised by Kevin’s action. She was also almost amused by it.“You think a mere apology is enough?” Brago roared. “You need to touch her feet and beg for her mercy!”“Not a problem,” Kevin got down on his knees.Cecilia took a step back. (Is he really doing
CHAPTER 43
While the students stretched and warmed up their bodies, Brago looked at Dorothy. He wanted her to join the students as well and help them crush Kevin’s ego.“Were you watching his dance or not?” she asked back. “He’s got centuries of rhythm straight into his bones. And you expect me to beat him?”“He won’t be able to beat all of the students,” Brago said. “He won’t have the stamina to do it.”“I see…” Dorothy now understood what Brago was after. “I wish you good luck.”“Huh? Didn’t you just hear what I said?”“Yeah, and I still don’t see him losing,” she replied. “Just look at him. Does he have any sweat on his face even after all that dance he did? That guy’s a monster. I don’t see him losing.”Brago gritted his teeth in frustration. “Fine. I’ll beat him at his own game. You can just stand here and watch.”“Good luck,” she said, her arms folded across her chest. She kept staring at Cecilia, and she frowned. (Didn’t Ethan say that he’s married. Yet, why is he hugging her like that?)
CHAPTER 44
Just after the music started, the most slender student stepped forward and pirouetted like crazy, wowing the crowd.Brago grinned. “Even I can’t spin that fast and with such control,” he thought. “There’s no way one can spin like that and maintain balance unless they have done it time and again. He’s going to fail for sure.”Kevin closed his eyes and pirouetted with his arms and chest forming a perfect square. The student who was doing the spinning stopped midway and couldn’t believe how gracefully and effortlessly Kevin was doing.Kevin’s speed and control was on another level. Not wanting to lose, he leaped forward doing a spinning kick and a pirouette at the same time—a move that should have been illegal against both physics and the human spine. He screamed like a hyena, “HUYYAAA!”Kevin simply moved to the side while pirouetting, and his elbow struck the guy who ended up face-planting into a speaker.“You got enthusiasm,” Kevin stopped spinning, “but no accuracy.”The crowd went O
CHAPTER 45
Everybody who was gathering around Kevin had to move aside because Brago approached him.“I will tell you the truth, and then you decide what kind of a man he is,” Brago said with arrogance backed by false confidence. He spread his arms out as he got to Kevin’s back, and then he put his hands on Kevin’s shoulder.“This great dancer here… and…” Brago looked at Cecilia, “that blonde beauty over there had both hugged each other. We all saw that. It was the innocent girl who initiated the hug, but the guy just accepted her hug like it was nothing.”“What’s wrong with hugging her?” one person in the crowd.“Well, it’s not wrong if he’s single,” Brago said. “But this man in the suit is actually married.”“What?” Everybody went silent after that. The atmosphere seemingly turned awkward. And this was eventually broken by a loud laughter, which originated from Ethan himself.“Why are you laughing?” Dorothy asked. “Have you gone crazy?”“Yeah, I might go crazy from laughing, pfft,” Ethan kept l
CHAPTER 46
At the FlavorNest company.Brielle was in her office, and her assistant once again entered the room and showed a particular video on the mobile screen. This showed Kevin and Cecilia dancing together.“This video was released only 28 minutes ago, ma’am,” the assistant said, “and it’s going viral.”Brielle just didn’t know how to react. She had sent Cecilia to the dance hall with the intent of letting her get in touch with other males. She was even planning to leak this information to James so he could probably join the dance community as well. She expected her idea to work well and eventually cause her daughter to forget about Kevin and move on.But now, the video playing before her showed the exact opposite thing.“H-How many views did it get?” she hesitantly asked.“It already crossed 100,000, ma’am. Not a single person disliked the video. I think this is an online record.”Brielle frowned. “What about the comments?”“They are all overwhelmingly positive,” the assistant nervously sta
CHAPTER 47
Kevin brought Cecilia to the Bullet Park. They sat down on the grass in the shade of a big tree. They had nothing with them, not even their mobiles.Kevin had told her to put the mobile in the car. She didn’t know why, but she listened to him.Nevertheless, she was feeling her heart racing even though she was only sitting next to him.The reason was simple. There wasn’t a single person in sight. It was just the two of them. There was no one to disturb them. This was a good thing. But why was this getting her heartbeat up?It’s not like they were going to kiss or do something crazy in the park. She kept stealing glances at him, wondering if Kevin was going to do something beyond expectations. She felt crazy how she wanted him to do something crazy to her in the park. All these thoughts made it feel like her cheeks were melting from the heat gathering in her face.“Mm? Are you okay?” Kevin touched her forehead. “You look red. Did the bad smell at the dance studio affect you that much?”
CHAPTER 48
The tall tree breathed its shadow over Cecilia and many smaller beings whom she was noticing.Cecilia was observing the ants that were taking cut-leaves in a line.“Why are they taking the leaves?” she wondered. The footsteps of the street performers caught her attention. There were four of them, their dresses not pretty and their expressions even more unnatural. If there were other people around, Cecilia might not have felt insecure, but right now, she was alone, so her instincts kicked in.She got up and was walking away. They quickened their pace. “We’re here to perform. Your husband sent us.”“Oh…” Cecilia was relieved to hear that. “I was worried for nothing.”“What kind of performance do you want, miss?” they asked.“I’m not really interested right now, so you can go,” she replied.“Don’t talk like that,” one of them stepped forward, taking out what looked like a spray bottle. “We didn’t come here to leave empty-handed.”He pressed the spray button. It was supposed to strike Cec
CHAPTER 49
The situation was so serious and dire that the thought of bragging did not even come to Kevin’s mind. But then the system itself reminded him.[Urgent Mission!][You’re surrounded by enemies that are more powerful than the ones you defeated.][It’s time to show them who you are!][Survive this disaster to receive the rewards.]The system did not speak like this before. It was talking about survival, so the mission could very much kill him.But it wasn’t like he could walk away from this situation. He had no other choice but to face it.He turned his head slightly, eyes narrowing at the reflection in a distant metal pole: a dark silhouette standing perfectly still. Not a jogger. Not a passerby.Too still.Too deliberate.Across the path, another shape shifted behind a trimmed hedge. And across the pond, a third—perched on a railing behind the statue, looking down instead of around.Three men. Three angles. A triangular kill-box.And this was just a minor part of their formation.Kevin
CHAPTER 50
Cecilia couldn’t clearly see what was going on, but she could hear everything. And when she saw the assassin, he looked like a ghost in black because of his white mask and black cloak. He sprinted effortlessly as though the wind carried him.“Kevin! He’s behind you1” Cecilia cried.Kevin frowned because he had to fight three opponents while carrying her on his shoulder. He took a deep breath and steadied his gaze and breathing almost immediately by letting out a deeper breath through the mouth. He jumped back at once.In doing so, he dodged the assassin’s blade which sliced through the air where Kevin’s ribs had been a second earlier. He swiveled once more and dodged the second knife that grazed past his shoulder. He caught the wrist of the second assassin that came from behind and used him to stab the first guy.The third one came silently like a man carved with quiet violence. He wanted to take sadistic pleasure in hurting Kevin from his blindspot.Kevin jumped and reverse flipped t
