More to Come
Jaxon and Felix turned to see — they knew he must have seen something for him to react in such a manner. They could only imagine what that was. They rushed to where he was and looked into the computer to see for themselves what that was. “So, what’s happening, James? What did you see this time?” Jaxon asked him, and he made way for them both to see what he had just seen. Jaxon was confused at first but quickly caught on to something when he saw the name. “Mary Greyson… this is a file that belongs to my wife. What does it say?” Jaxon asked, and Felix squinted his eyes so he would be able to read through what was there. He didn’t see anything much but a prescription for medications. “There’s nothing here, James. Mary is sick at the moment, and they are administering medication to her. It’s nothing to be worried about,” Jaxon said. But James didn’t quite agree with that. He thought something was up, and he would like to find out. “Well, if you ask me, I don’t think that’s it at al
Setting the trap
Jaxon met with Felix outside the restroom, and they both walked away to the parking lot. James was already there waiting for them. Felix got to the driver’s seat while the other two sat in the passenger’s seat, and Felix drove off. James did his usual thing and restored the setting of the hospital camera to its original form. He made sure not to leave anything to cause any form of suspicion. They dropped him off in the middle of the road while they drove to the Greyson Group. “I have to check on Mary today. If he’s giving her these medications, that means he’s doing it when no one is watching. That explains why he’s always up at midnight,” Jaxon said. And Felix agreed with him. “But how come we didn’t see him the other night when you were in Georgia’s room?” Felix asked. “You were both focused on me that night. That must be the reason why you neglected him and didn’t see him until he got to the door,” he said. And Felix agreed with him. “That’s the only reasonable explanation
False Alarm
Felix could already see through him. He didn’t want him here, and that was understandable. He must think he was here to inspect him or something. If only he knew he was here to do something way above that. “You don’t look too happy to see me here, Mr. Thomas. Is anything the problem?” Felix asked. And Mr. Thomas frowned. He knew when Felix was employed in this company. If not for the fact that he was quite close to the Chairman, he would have been fired from this company — all thanks to this boy who was always so nosy and putting his head where it didn’t belong. “Why would you think that? I have nothing to be afraid of, Felix. Remember the last time you tried to slander me? Do you like my position so much that you won’t stop eyeing it and trying so hard to kick me out of the company? Well, you might want to give up, because that’s never going to happen. No one is going to believe any lies that you come up with. This time, the Chairman will dismiss the case like the previous one,”
The Trap
“I’m sure it’s nothing. You don’t have to worry about it. I’m going to speak to him this night and ask him what this is all about,” Diego said. But Thomas wasn’t satisfied with that. But he couldn’t say otherwise. He would just have to deal with it and wait for him to say something. “Sure. Goodbye, Mr. Chairman,” Thomas said. And Diego ended the call. He sat down on his chair, hoping the whole meeting thing didn’t have any other motive attached to it. Felix heard everything Thomas said over the phone and wondered what he was talking about. He suspected he was going to call Mr. Greyson, as he’s the one he believes can save him from being fired. From the things he heard, Mr. Greyson was worried. He called to give him bad news about some business. Then Thomas assured him nothing like that was happening and assured him he was in charge. Something is going wrong here, and there are more things for them to find out. How crazy the whole thing is — the more they find something, the dee
Precision
They arrived at the mansion late in the evening, and food had already been served. Jaxon went into the sitting room, and Diego was there as well as Georgia. He bowed his head as a means of respect as he greeted them. After all, these were his uncle and aunt. “How are you doing, son? How do you feel now? I hope you are feeling better. You looked sick this morning,” Georgia said. And Jaxon made his way to her and hugged her. She felt quite emotional, and she couldn’t tell why that was. Maybe because he’s her nephew, or he’s the son of the man she loves deeply. “I’m doing fine, Mom. The doctor prescribed some medicine, and we have medicine already. It was just stress and nothing more. I promise to take it easy on myself from now henceforth. Thanks for caring for me so much,” Jaxon said. And Georgia patted him on the back. “Of course, it’s only normal that they treat you like that. You are the only son-in-law of the great Greyson family, and you will be the only one. So don’t expec
Motive
Diego and Georgia were really surprised. They were beginning to wonder what was happening and what stunt he was planning on pulling this time around. Jaxon looked up at Felix. He also didn’t understand what was going on here. He only said he was going to call his wife to shut Paul up. He didn’t mean it. Felix nodded at him, and Jaxon knew he must have done something. “Oh really. I told you, Uncle, that my wife loves me very much, and she cares about me so much. There’s nothing for you to be worried about. I didn’t even think she was going to call me so soon. Here, let me have the phone,” Jaxon said, and put the phone on speaker. He was a little bit scared, but Felix kept nodding at him, assuring him. “Hello, my love.” A female voice came in, and Diego was shocked. That person sounded similar to their daughter, Mary. What was going on here? Mary was lying there dying. How come she was talking over the phone? He couldn’t wait for this dinner to be over. Jaxon had some explaining
Saving Mary
“Well, I knew it was going to work. So there’s no need for you to panic, okay? This is something we all do from time to time. We take risks. So stop pretending this is something new,” Felix said. And they both laughed about the matter till they could no longer take it. Felix did as he was told, and he picked up his phone to make a call to James. “I was just about to call you, James. I just found out that the drugs they have been giving Mrs. Mary Greyson are actually to kill her. It’s a form of poison, but it’s the type that works slowly. So it will keep killing her like that until she won’t be able to take it anymore. Her body will collapse, and she will die,” James said. And both Felix and Jaxon could not believe their ears. They stood there, not knowing what to think or do with what they had just heard. This was the worst thing ever. How could he do something like that to his child? How could she even let him do that? This was insanely absurd. “And I have no idea how to feel
Uncovering
“If you insist, I hope you are better. Now, I would like to know if you are feeling better already. Handling the company must be a difficult task. I remember when we just started the company, it was like that as well. I had to stop working when I had Mary so I would be able to take care of my daughter. Trust me, when I tell you that it’s never easy, you will just have to adapt to it. It’s good for you. You have less than a year more to spend here with us,” Georgia said. “Well, I don’t think so. I’m going to be here for a long while,” Jaxon said. And she was left wondering what he meant by that statement. She was going to ask him but decided not to. She was sure there was nothing more to his words, even though his words lately do have some meanings attached to them. “I mean, Dad might decide to keep me in the company, especially when he sees the significant changes I have made and will be making pretty soon,” Jaxon said, pretending to be ignorant, while Georgia just laughed it of
Mission Complete
“Did you just say Dad is the one that gives her all of her medication?” he asked. And Georgia turned to him, nodding her head. “Yes, I do. He has all the medication she needs in his room there. He never misses giving her all she needs when she needs it. And that makes me so relieved because I don’t think I will be able to see my daughter every day in that position. It’s so heartbreaking for me. Thank goodness Diego is such a strong father,” she said, shedding a few tears. Jaxon smiled happily because he had all he needed already. She had just told him what he wanted. “I’m sorry you are going through all of this. I wish I could go there sometimes and at least be with her. That’s the only way I know how to be of help. At least I’m sure she won’t be bored to death or something,” Jaxon said. And Georgia hugged him more tightly. He had been incredibly closer to her than anyone else in this house. She couldn’t tell why, but she felt this sort of connection between both of them. “I h
What do you want
“Then are you the one I’m supposed to trust?” Jaxon asked him. And he nodded his head. “Well, that doesn’t sound like a bad idea to me. You can trust me all you want. If you want, I can help you become anything you want. If you do, just do as I say,” Paul said. Jaxon tried not to jump on the offer. “Don’t be deceived by your position here as the president of the Greyson Group. I know my friend so well. I’m sure he’s only using you for his gains and nothing more. He’s planning to replace you as we speak. Not that he told me, but I’m sure of it. He’s my friend, and I know exactly what he’s capable of doing. Trust me on that one,” he said. And Jaxon scoffed. “You just shot yourself in the leg, Uncle. If truly Dad is the way you say he is, then you must be worse than him to talk about your friend like that. Do you know that I got married to Mary because I wanted to, and I’m very much aware of the consequences or whatever it is that comes with it,” Jaxon said, and stood up, leaving
