The room was designed to cut intruders into tiny cubes of meat. "We have to work together!" Claire commanded loudly. Landon knew exactly what to do. He could not protect them all with one shield while they were jumping around. They needed absolute, perfect coordination. They needed the ultimate connection. Landon closed his dark eyes. He ignored the deafening sound of the machine guns. He ignored the terrifying red lasers slicing the air near his face. He reached deep inside his tired soul. He activated the beautiful, glowing white web of the War Resonance magic. “Touch,” Landon commanded softly. The bright white threads of magic flew across the dangerous room. They connected perfectly into the minds of Claire, Kade, Marcus, Navarro, Silas, Jin, and Sera. All eight of them gasped softly as the warm, comforting white light filled their brains. The fear instantly melted away. The panic vanished. Inside the magical web, time slowed down. They could see the entire room perfectly.

The toxic green kinetic energy and the pure green Life Magic sparked violently together. The clone captain squeezed his massive hands together. With a loud, sickening crack, the clone snapped Silas’s magical sword completely in half. Silas gasped in shock. The clone captain kicked his heavy white boot forward, smashing Silas in the stomach. He was surrounded by one hundred exact copies of himself. The giant, muscular clones dripped with glowing green liquid. They stood up from the broken glass tubes. But their eyes were not human. Their eyes were solid, pitch-black pools of empty darkness. The terrifying, buzzing sound of the alien Star Eaters echoed from a hundred open mouths. "Landon," Claire Arden whispered softly.
