Doctor Lee can't home back his laughter, it bursts out of his lips with such a pitch that he has to hold his hand to muffle it. “Are you being serious right now, Stephanie? You somehow think that your husband is going to be able to help you get Nicole a freaking heart?” “And lungs.” She corrects him. Doctor Lee can laugh all he wants, her faith is not shaken in her dearest beloved. Yes, this is an almost impossible task, but her husband has promised that he would do literally anything for her. Doctor McKenna sighs and gently massages her forehead. She is very busy, she doesn't have any time for this. Especially when she has to go into a fifteen hour surgery right now. “You know what, Stephanie, I heard very good things about you, but you are proving to me that you are a crazy psycho right now.” Stephanie's eyes bulge. “Doctor McKenna –” “That's what I have been saying, Doctor McKenna!” Lee doesn't waste any time to agree. “Imagine our precious patients being treated by a wom

After the call has ended, Stephanie stands about another twenty minutes in the dark room, alone with her thoughts. Roman sounded very chill about the organs she needs, so she doesn't know if he said all of that just to make her feel better. Nevertheless, she has other patients to attend to, so that her internship score will still be high. She steps out of the room and slowly walks back into the main hospital rooms. She almost turns around to return to the storage room once she sights Lee and the rest of his mean Doctor friends. When he notices that she is trying to get away from him, he rushes and pulls her back to the middle.“Hey, where are you rushing off to? We were just talking about you!” He wickedly chuckles. “Um, I'm sorry but I really have so much to do.” Stephanie tries to free her wrist, but he has a very heavy grip on her. “Everyone listen, Stephanie is going to leave the hospital today.” he says. The cleaner, Lily, who Stephanie befriended on her first day here,l

“You can't be serious. What would high ranking military men be looking for in this hospital?” Kee snorts, walking out of the door. Stephanie sighs as she stands up and follows them outside. At the reception, the hefty soldiers in their uniform are standing in formation, and the staff are on the other side, whispering nervously to each other. Something like this has never happened in the hospital, and everyone is scared to even approach them to ask what they want. Not even the prideful Doctor Johnny Lee. Finally, Doctor McKenna shows up with a towel that she is hurriedly using to wipe her hands. “Good morning, gentlemen. My name is Doctor McKenna.” She says. “How can I help you people today?” One of them stands out. He is the highest ranking one, and he looks so tough in his uniform. There are so many people that Stephanie can't put herself in the front, so she has to stay by the closest door and stand on her toes. She cranes her neck till it hurts, until she finally is able

“Carmen, no, please don't do this.” “Someone hurt you, and I'm going to take them back to the military prison to teach them a lesson or two.” He boils. “That's an order, Carmen, put your men together!” Her voice is not as full of authority as his, but he sighs and orders his men to stop. Stephanie sighs and whispers to him. “The reason why I got that mark on my hand is because a young boy I was treating was in so much pain that bruised me when he held my hand. I know you care about me, but I wasn't hurt by anyone intentionally.” Carmen just nods. He would have wanted to escalate the matter to the highest level, but she has said no, and her words are final. “I was just doing what my boss would have wanted me to, okay? Please, send my regards to Athena.” He bows to her for the last time, and the rest of the soldiers mirror his gesture. They leave the building just as fast as they came. Immediately, Stephanie is swallowed up by the crowd of staff as everyone has over a million q

Stephanie sighs and looks away. “I didn't save you, Lee, I just didn't want you to get into trouble on my account.” “But why?” Lee can't comprehend her kindness. “I don't know, maybe because I'm not like you.” She finally snaps. “Maybe I have better things to do than to bully people all the time. Look at Nicole, she is all ready to get the surgery, and that has made me so happy that I even forgot everything you did to me. So, yes, that's why I didn't mention your name to Carmen.” Lee immediately drops to his knees and bows to her so deeply that his head is touching the ground. She is taken aback by this. “Doctor Lee, what are you doing?” “Please, I deserve to die. You are a better person than I ever will be. You have so much power, but you have refused to brutalize me!” She scoffs and places her hands on her waist. “Johnny Lee, please get up!” “Not until you accept to take me as your slave for the rest of your stay in the hospital.” He begs. “That's the only way I can pay back

After a few days, Stephanie receives a text message from her mother. Mind you, this has been about five weeks since the jail incident. They've refused to contact or thank Roman and Stephanie after that, and this has kept Stephanie very sad. Her father had his sixty-fifth birthday, and Finna and John threw a huge party, but when Stephanie texted to be included, she was left on read…So, imagine Stephanie's surprise when she is coming back from her shift at the hospital one day and she gets a text from her mother, urging her to come to the house to participate in a party that the family is throwing for someone friend. Stephanie is so happy that she screams and jumps on the seat in her car. This is the time that she has been praying for, the time when her and her parents will finally get along. It's an evening party, and she knows exactly what it means. Her father and mother used to have it yearly for a very long time. They will invite their very influential friends, and the chefs

And it works like magic, because the guests can't control themselves with how they are almost worshipping Finna. “Oh, what a beautiful Doctor!” “My grandchild also wants to become a doctor!” Finna smiles and goes on to hug her parents, who hug her back with so much pride. Stephanie's eyes glistens with tears. She can't believe that her parents are willing to accept a lie, then accept that she is the most successful of the sisters. It pains her heart to see Finna like this, casually taking all the glory for the hard work that she has done. “Where is your hospital, my dear? My arthritis has been acting up again, and I know I can trust you to fix that.” Finna's face turns pale. When she was putting together her malicious plan, she didn't take into consideration the medical questions that she would be answering from the guests. “Ummm, my hospital doesn't treat meningitis for old people.” The woman's face immediately goes hard as a rock. She has never met a doctor who confuses ar

Linc looks like a proud child as he announces to Roman that they won't have to sit around all day without anything to do because the Professor will return today. He has called the cleaning lady in, and given her strict instructions to give the house a deep cleaning. He has also followed her around the house to make sure that she doesn't bump into something that is supposed to be secret. After she has left, he grabs the key to his car, and asks Roman to come too. “Why are you so happy?” Roman asks, he is dying to know. “What do you mean? The boss is coming back?” Linc says with a frown. “He has been away for two weeks now.” “I still don't understand why you find that to be so exciting for you.” Roman says. “I heard from someone that the Professor used to be very brutal with his servants and bodyguards. You seem to be different.” Linc's smile has disappeared, because he knows that Roman is telling the truth. Before Linc came along, rhe Professor's bodyguards were changed ever

Linc inhales so sharply that Roman fears that he is about to have a heart attack. He also steps so hard on the brake that they are thrown forward slightly. The car has stopped right in the middle of the road. “Linc, is everything okay?” The Professor asks with fake worry. “You almost caused an accident right here.” “I apologize sir, but I can't help but notice what you have just said to Roman. I just wanted to humbly remind the boss that Roman Croft is very new, and doesn't know how to protect the boss like I do.” The Professor laughs and claps his hands. He deliberately announced it in front of Linc to get this kind of reaction out of him. “Have I grown that familiar with you, Linc? That you now question my decisions?” “No, sir, I would never.” Linc bows till his head is touching the steering wheel. “I deserve to die, sir. For this disrespect I have shown to the boss.” He would have laid on the ground to apologize, but they are unfortunately in a car– and in the middle of a v

Anthony Petrov never expected the huge crowd of over a thousand people waiting for him outside the plane, in the airport. They are loudly cheering, waving their hands in the air. Roman knows that the Professor is a popularly loved man, but this is just too much. It's like Anthony Petrov is slowly moving to being a cult leader. Is this what he wanted the whole time? He looks out of the window and wave back at the people, smiling like a fucking saint. “What's greater, Roman? Power of influence?” Roman thinks that this is a trick question, and he is not exactly wrong. “I don't know, sir.” He simply answers. “Look out of the window, tell me what you see.” Roman complies, although he frowns when he sees how much these people are behaving like zombies. “I see a lot of people who are happy to have you in their country,” Roman says. “I see loyal servants.” “Ah, Roman, how innocent you are. I, on the other hand, see slaves, people that are willing to die for me.” He answers with a sm
