Carrying the weight of securing the entire nation and being a father and a husband, at the same time, is not easy, but Roman is managing. He is in their 19th century styled library, together with his daughter, who is doing her assignments. She doesn't even need his help, because she is a very smart girl. He is working on his laptop, headphones over in his ears as he communicates with Carmen under the phone. Carmen has been under great distress in the past few weeks because of the reemergence of Jackson Black…The terrorist is using strong blocking software to bounce off every attempt to pinpoint his location on the globe. It's crucial for them to know where Jackson Black is because that's the only way they can protect the good people of this country. If he is able to go offline for more than a few hours, the result would be very devastating…Roman clicks on the keys on his laptop very fast, eyes not even blinking at the screen. One of his many secret skills is that he is a very

Stephanie hears herself crying, and yet, not one of those men pay her any attention. The only time that Micheal walks up to her is to press his gun under her chin, and promise to blow her head off if she doesn't stop annoying him with her sobs. “Please, my husband is just an ordinary man. He is no longer a soldier, that means that he has nothing to do with the dragon general or the army…” The men start to go through the large shipping crates in the corner, after prying them open with a crowbar. Her breath escapes her nostrils with shudders of fear. Are those long guns meant for Roman?!Micheal has a cigarette sticking from the side of his mouth as he feeds the bullet-stuffed magazine into the rifle, before cocking it. He sees the horror in Stephanie's eyes and it makes him snort with laughter. “Scared, are you? Do not worry, your life is in your husband's hands. Let's see if he is the kind to play games.”A car pulls up and from the room where they are, they see Roman getting

They stand for a full minute, just staring at each other. It's the longest silence of their lives. “You killed that man, Roman.” Her voice shakes with a shiver. “You weren't supposed to see that. Stephanie. That's why I asked you to go to the car. I did it all to save you.” “No, Roman, I saw how you killed him. It was cold, like it was second nature to you,” “Stephanie, I am a soldier.” He reminds her. “That's what I'm trained to do.” But Stephanie can't be fooled, she knows exactly what she saw.He killed Micheal in the most gruesome way possibly, and it's like nothing she has ever experienced. She never knew that her husband could be this cold-blooded to carry out such a task without more than a blink. Roman bites the inside of his cheek as he curses himself. How didn't he notice her behind him? He tries to reach for her, but she pushes his arm away. His heart drops to the deepest part of his stomach. Is his wife now… scared of him? “I– I went to medical school, Roman, I ha

That night, Stephanie can't sleep after what she saw. She was dodging having that talk with Roman, so she sneaked into her daughter's room and joined her in the bed. She can't sleep. Each time she closes her eyes, she sees Roman killing Micheal. Yes, six men died that night, but she saw Roman speak to Micheal for a few minutes before he pulled the trigger. She was too far to clearly hear what was being said, but it was obvious that Micheal was trying to beg for his life, but Roman refused to listen….She doesn't want to talk about this with her husband because she is scared that this is really who he is. She fears that this will change how she feels about him…Roman, on the other hand, never drinks alcohol, but he is forced to go to the kitchen and grab himself a bottle. He can't sleep, he can't even bare to lay on his bed because he has become so used to having his dear wife by his side. Killing Micheal was supposed to be easy, nothing much, but now his wife has seen the mons

Roman leaves the house very early in order to attend the meeting with Von Kent. His car starts to go smoothly and he eases it into the road, but his phone ringing catches his attention. Carmen is calling. He picks the call and keeps on driving. “Talk to me, Carmen.” “We are on his ass, sir, but he hasn't moved an inch from the hotel room.” “What do you mean, Carmen? It's been four days. Did he come into the country to sit on his ass all fucking day?” He grunted. “I don't know, sir, maybe he knows that we are after him.” “That's nonsense, there is no way for him to know.” Roman mutters. If his enemy has refused to leave the hotel, then something else is going on. It's only a matter of time before Roman finds out. “I'm in the middle of something now, Carmen, so just keep doing your thing. I will track him from my watch, so we should be in sync all the time.” “Got it, general.” Roman ends the call. As he pulls to the road side, his eyes look at the tall building that is Kent

“What?” It's too late, Mister Von is gone. Roman looks at the gun in his hand, it's so hard to comprehend what he is hearing. John comes to stand by him, brushing his thumb against his nose in irritation. “I can't believe that my Uncle chose you for this!” “Do not be mad, John, I'm the one that can die here!” “Well, you better not.” John huffs. “That would be embarrassing for a black eagle to die in such a small game like this.” Roman turns his neck to look up at him. “You have to stop talking about things you have no ideas on.” John brushes his hand over his chin before he comes and whispers to Roman. “The secret is to allow them to kill of themselves first. I read it in an action novel once, and I've seen this tactic being used before." Roman's eyebrow goes up in surprise. Is John Kent actually helping him? Of course he knows how to protect himself in a firing exchange, but he is flattered that the devil's son, John Kent, is being nice. It's like John could read the thoug

Everyone immediately swallows what words were left in their mouth as soon as Anthony Petrov walks into the place. Mister Petrov is a very unique kind of man. He is in his early fifties and has a distinctive way of dressing up. He is wearing all black, and has a fat cigar hanging from his lips. It's hard to believe that this is the same cardigan-wearing part-time professor that works in a community college for a ridiculously low salary. That's one way to clean up one's reputation, after all, his family has been related to the drug underworld for the past seventy years, but the country reacted differently to Anthony. He never showed up to drug lords’ meetings. He attended the best schools, kept out of trouble, and was even a peace ambassador when he was just twenty two years old. Surely no one would believe that the same man is the most dangerous drug lord that his family has ever produced. He once killed a group of over five hundred movers because a few kilos of products were mi

It's raining cats and dogs, and Stephanie feels dejected, because her husband is not yet back home. Thankfully, her daughter is asleep. The cold rain splashes over the hem of her rope, but she won't move away from the front door. After almost two hours of standing outside, the gate opens and the headlights weakly break through the fog of rain, as it goes not to the garage, but towards the front door. As soon as Roman steps out of the car, Stephanie's back falls against the door with a sigh. His hair is wet and pressed against his face, but he doesn't mind as he picks up his wife and kisses her face with so much happiness. “I was worried that something happened to you.” She confesses with a voice that is hoarse with unshed tears. “Let's not fight anymore, okay? The last few hours have been the most horrible of my life. I don't want to ever keep malice with you, got it?” He says to her. “Got it.” She laughs shortly as she leans forward and kisses his lips again. He carries her

Roman works for three weeks, and he doesn't even set his eyes on Anthony Petrov again. He is worried, this is not the reason why he has accepted the job, so why has the Professor gone MIA? They do a lot of things around the house, grade scripts, go through students' projects, and he goes back home at the end of a very long day. He wonders how long this is going to go on for….He goes back to his car and spends the next hour watching the students walk from their classrooms to the hostels. His phone rings, and he sighs before picking up. “Talk to me, Carmen.” “Good Mom, General, I wanted to inform you on the latest update. Target one has moved back to his apartment on campus, and is going around normally. Target two is still in the eastern kingdoms, and so far, no tangible move has been made.” Roman nodded, because he already knew the answer before Carmen spoke. “Good, Carmen, we will keep this up. Quietly, of course, until I know who the mole in the military is.” Roman says. “

With the envelope on the front seat with him, Roman has to go to the Kent accounting firm headquarters. It's a busy day, and everyone is rushing to do something. Roman weaves through people, and since he is no longer a new face around here, he can go straight up. The assistant stands up as soon as she sees him. “Good morning, Mister Croft. Do you have an appointment with Mister Kent today?” “Not really, I'm just here to deliver a package to him. It's from the Professor, and I have to deliver it in person.” “Well, today is your lucky day, Mister Roman. He just finished a meeting, so you can go in.” “Thank you.” Roman turns the knob and like always, Mister Von is buried neck deep in paperwork. “Roman Croft, my man!” He says in an upbeat tone. “Let me guess, you have come to say thank you to me because I have given you the job of your life.” Roman almost snorts in the man's face. This is the same man who sent Roman into a dangerous task, not minding that he has a wife and
