Chapter 71
Ryan sat on the bench outside Mr. Tim’s hospital room. His elbows rested on his knees, hands clasped tight. The place smelled like antiseptic, but he didn’t notice. All he could think about was what had happened to Mr. Tim.Rocas came quietly and sat beside him. “Boss… the doctor says he’s stable, but he hasn’t woken up yet,” he said low.Ryan nodded. He didn’t speak at first. His jaw was tight. “Someone is watching him,” he finally said. “Someone is watching all of us.”Rocas looked nervous. “I think… whoever attacked him knows he spoke to you.”Ryan’s eyes darkened. “Then this wasn’t random. They wanted to warn me… or scare me. Maybe even finish the job.”Rocas swallowed. “Should we move him somewhere safer?”Ryan shook his head. “If we move him now, it will attract more attention. Double the guards around his room. No one gets in unless they are nurses or the doctor. And anyone suspicious… report it immediately.”Rocas nodded and left quickly.Ryan stood and walked to the windo
Chapter 72
Ryan stayed in the hospital hallway, still sitting on the metal chair. His eyes were red but he didn’t sleep. Nurses walked past him, but he didn’t even notice. His mind was full. Why did they attack Mr. Tim now?He rubbed his forehead. Everything felt strange. Somebody was scared that he was getting close to the truth.Rocas returned and sat beside him.“Boss, I already double the security. No one will come close to Mr. Tim again.”Ryan nodded but didn’t look up. “Good. But this is not the end. They will try again.”Rocas looked worried. “Boss… why do they want this old man dead? He no get money. He no get power.”Ryan finally looked at him. “It’s not about him. It’s about what he knows.”Rocas swallowed. “So what do we do now?”Ryan sighed. “We need to move faster. The people behind my father’s death are not playing. They are watching our steps.”He stood up, ready to leave, but a loud sound came from inside Mr. Tim’s room.*Bang!!!*Ryan and Rocas rushed there fast. The door
Chapter 73
Ryan ran outside the hospital and jumped into his car. His hands were shaking but his mind was sharp. He started the engine fast.Clara could be in danger. He dialed her number while driving.Beep… Beep… Beep…No answer. He tried again.Still nothing.“Clara please pick up,” he said under his breath.Rocas called him.“Boss! Where are you going?”“To find Clara,” Ryan replied.“You want backup?”“Yes. Send two cars to her location now. I just received a picture of her. Somebody is following her.”“Send me the location,” Rocas said.Ryan zoomed past traffic while sending the picture.Rocas paused. “Boss, check the background. Is that not the market near their house?”Ryan looked again. He recognized the bus stop.“That means she is close to home,” he said.“But if the person took this picture and sent it to you, it means the person is close,” Rocas said.Ryan pressed the accelerator harder. “This is not warning. They are planning something.”His phone buzzed again. Another message
Chapter 74
The ground was still shaking. People were shouting and running. Smoke rose into the sky like something big just blew up. Ryan didn’t wait for anybody. He started running toward the smoke.Ava tried to hold him. “Ryan wait!”He pushed her hand away gently. “I can’t wait. Clara is there.”Eric followed behind, shouting, “Ryan stop! They want you to run there blind!”Ryan didn’t listen. His ears were ringing. His chest was shaking. His mind was only saying one thing. Please let her be alive. He reached the corner of the street. Cars were burned. A shop’s glass shattered on the ground. People were crying, covering their heads, running away.Rocas arrived with two cars and some men got down with guns.“Boss what happened?”Ryan pointed ahead. “They bombed the place. We need to search everywhere. Clara might be inside.”Rocas nodded and signaled his men. “Spread out!”Ryan walked through the smoke slowly, his heart beating fast. He saw burnt wood, wires, broken chairs. He saw blood

Clara slowly opened her eyes. Everything felt heavy. Her head was spinning like she hit a wall. She tried to move but her body felt weak. The bed under her was soft, not like hospital bed. The room was big and clean, cream color wall, long curtains, small lamp, everything quiet. She blinked again, confused. Where am I?She looked down. Her clothes were different. Somebody already changed her. Her bruises were cleaned and bandaged. She touched her arm slowly, scared.“Hello…? Anybody here?” her voice sounded weak.No answer. Her heart started beating fast. She remembered the bus stop, the shadow behind her, the hand covering her mouth. She tried to sit up fully and pain rushed through her body. Tears came out small-small.“Please… what is this… who brought me here?”She stood up slowly and walked to the door. She tried to open it. Locked. She pressed her forehead on the door and breathed fast. “I want to go home… please let me go,” she whispered.Still silence. She turned, loo

Ryan did not rest. He did not eat. He did not even sit down. The whole night he was moving from street to street, checking cameras, calling people, shouting at anybody that wasted time.He opened his phone again and watched Clara’s video. The way she cried. The fear in her voice. It burned his chest. He threw the phone on the seat and hit the steering wheel hard.“Why did they take her? What do they want?”Rocas entered the car from the passenger side, tired too.“Boss we searched all the highways. No black jeep that matches the description. They must have changed car somewhere.”Ryan did not answer. His head was full.Rocas continued, “I also checked camera from the market to the junction. The jeep turned left, not right.”Ryan frowned. “Left leads to the old industrial area.”“Yes. But there are no businesses there again. All the warehouses are abandoned. The perfect place to hide someone.”Ryan started the car.“Let’s go.”He drove fast. Street lights flew past like shadows.
Chapter 77
Ryan stopped. The darkness swallowed everything. He could not even see his own hand. Only Clara’s faint scream echoed from somewhere ahead, bouncing through the tunnel walls.“Clara!” Ryan shouted, voice rough. No reply. Only dripping water and silence.Rocas turned on his flashlight, but it flickered weakly then died. “Battery don finish,” he whispered.Ryan clenched his teeth. “We move blind.”Eric shook his head. “No, wait. These tunnels are old. If we run without light, we can fall into the lower pits. People die here like that.”Ryan didn’t care. He moved forward fast, touching the wall with one hand to keep direction.Rocas followed behind him, gun raised. “Boss slow down, we don’t know who else is here.”Ryan ignored him.Clara’s voice came again, softer this time, like she was losing strength.“Ryan… please…”His chest tightened. He charged forward faster, stepping into shallow water. He could feel the tunnel changing direction, like it curved left. He kept moving.Eric

Ryan ran into the darkness with full speed. His shoes splashed water on the tunnel floor. He didn’t stop to think. He just followed the direction where he heard Clara’s voice last.“Clara! Clara talk to me!” he shouted. No answer. His heart beat fast like drum. The tunnel was long and narrow. Small light bulbs were hanging on the wall but most of them were already broken. Only red light flashed sometimes like warning.Rocas followed behind him but he was slowing down.“Ryan wait!” Rocas shouted.Ryan didn’t stop. “If I stop now she can die. Move!”They reached a point where the tunnel separated again. Three roads. Left. Right. Straight.Ryan turned right instantly.Rocas dragged his arm. “No we should split. You go right. I go left.”Ryan shook his head. “I don’t need backup. Go outside. Bring police. Bring everything.”Rocas looked at him strong. “You can die inside here.”Ryan looked him straight. “If she dies, I die too.”Rocas breathed out slow. He dropped his gun in Ryan’s ha

Rocas ran out of the tunnel as fast as he could. His chest was tight, his legs burning, his hands shaking. He called his team, he called backup, he called the police, but something inside told him he had to go back. He had to go back for Ryan. “Boss! Boss! Ryan!” Rocas shouted as he ran into the tunnel again. His voice echoed, swallowed by the dark, wet walls. Then he saw it. Ryan’s gun, lying in the mud. Rocas froze. His hands trembled as he picked it up. “No… boss… stay with me… please…” He ran deeper, calling out again. Then he saw Ryan. Lying on the wet floor. Pale. Chest rising and falling slowly. His body looked weak, almost lifeless. “Boss! Ryan! Talk to me! Please!” Rocas shouted. He dropped to his knees and shook him. Ryan’s eyelids fluttered but he didn’t speak. His body was shaking, his breath shallow. Rocas grabbed him, pressing his hands against his shoulders. “Please… don’t leave me here. Not now… not like this!” Rocas muttered, fighting tears. He l

The hospital was quiet but tense. Ryan sat up slowly on the bed, breathing hard like someone who was fighting inside his mind. The drip was still on his hand and his body felt weak, but his eyes were sharp like someone who already made a decision.Ava stood close, holding his hand. “Ryan please don’t rush things. Your body is still weak. You almost died.”Ryan looked at her slowly. “I don’t care about myself. Clara is out there. She is alone. I can’t sit down and breathe like everything is fine.”Mrs Harrison wiped her face with shaky hands. “But Ryan you need strength. Let the police find her. Let the team handle it.”Ryan shook his head. “No… the police don’t know who they are dealing with. These people are trained. They move like ghosts. They don’t leave trace. Only someone from inside their world can find her.”Rocas entered the room holding a tablet, his face serious. “Boss… we traced the black jeep. But we lost the signal after highway intersection. They went into woods.”A
