CHAPTER EIGHTY-ONE Marcus scoffed, shaking his head slowly.“That was no luck, Luke Abel. That me whooping your ass, and I will do it over again, you had better leave with whatever is left of your ego.” Luke growled, his eyes still glaring at Marcus.“Enough of the talking then! Let’s see if you will be lucky this time around!” He lifted his clenched fists, and after he had taken a combat stance, he began to move toward Marcus, aiming for his chest. “Be careful, Marcus!” Sheila said with a tense tone, not sure if she was ready to watch. Luke was angered by her utterance, but that was able to fuel his rage, causing him to move faster while he kept his eyes on Marcus. When he was certain that he had locked in on his target, he swayed his right fist, aiming for Marcus’s chest, but he missed the moment the young heir drifted backward. “That was too slow, Luke.” Marcus sneered, his voice laced with ridicule.“You should go faster next time. You throw a punch like a baby.” He sniggered

CHAPTER EIGHTY-TWO “I am so sorry for keeping you waiting, Mr. Trevor.” The male voice resounded from behind, causing Marcus to turn at once to look at the middle-aged man clad in a dark-blue suit. He took a deep breath while he waited for the man to sit on the chair behind the desk in front of him. “You asked to see me, Mr. Clarkson.” Marcus remarked quietly, and then he cleared his throat, eyes on the school Administrator. “That’s right,” Richard Clarkson nodded, holding onto his smile.“I apologize for asking you to come when I know that you could be getting ready to head back home.” The School Administrator cleared his throat, and because he was yet to make his point, Marcus just stared at him silently, looking at his eyes as though he was trying to figure out what was going on inside his mind. That was the third time Marcus was in that office, and if he could still remember vividly, he was never offered a seat the previous times he was asked to see Richard. His secretary was

CHAPTER EIGHTY-THREE “It’s true…” Fred muttered, turning to face Richard with wide eyes. His chest tightened, and he couldn’t tell if it was because he was he had been running or because he was shocked at the sight before him,Richard grunted the moment he set his eyes on him, placing his hands on the desk the moment he leaned forward. “What are you doing here, Fred? I can’t remember asking you to see me in my office.” His eyes sparked with annoyance, and that was something no one was used to. Fred swallowed hard, still struggling to catch his breath.“Are you really going to make Marcus in charge of the ceremony?” He asked, hoping for a pleasing answer.his question had left the school administrator speechless, and he stared at him with wide eyes.“Who told you that?!” Richard asked with a high tone, but that was not because he was afraid of the student, but because he had only discussed it with a few members of the school staff. That could only mean on thing, and that was that

CHAPTER EIGHTY-FOUR “Then I will give it to him.” Marcus interrupted, turning to face Fred with a smirk all over his face. He turned to Richard and then he took a deep breath, his eyes showing the intensity of his firm resolve. “I know that you are afraid because of the money his father has promised you…” He paused for a few seconds, turning to look at Fred briefly. “I will give you three times the amount his father has promised to give to you.” He took a deep breath, returning his gaze to the Administrator. Richard’s eyes widened with shock, and even when he tried to speak, it seemed as though he was not going to be able to find his words, his eyes turning from one of the students to the other. “You mean you will give me fifteen million dollars for the school project?” He asked, his voice low and slippery.“Yes.” Marcus nodded, holding onto his confident smile. “In addition to that, I am also going to bring some of my friends to donate to the school on the day of the event. I

CHAPTER EIGHTY-FIVE Gwen nodded, and then she held onto him tightly, peeping from the side while she continued to struggle to catch her breath. As the men drew closer to them, her chest tightened, her heart pounding aggressively against his ribcage. She took a deep breath, her eyes looking around just in case there was someone else watching and ready to attack her.Marcus was calm, staring at the men as they drew closer. He took a deep breath, his eyes looking from one man to the other while he tried to get a grip on himself. “Who are you?” He asked with a low tone, looking from one man to the other while he waited to hear the response that they were going to give to him. The men didn’t say a word to him, seeming like they were acting as if he was not exist. They had their eyes on Gwen, and even though they couldn’t see her clearly, that didn’t look like it was going to dwindle their determination to do whatever they had in mind. “You know that you can’t really hide from us,

CHAPTER EIGHTY-SIX Gwen was moving faster, but Marcus decided to slow down, looking around as he followed with a steady pace. His eyes moved to the cars parked all over the place, and he needed no one to tell him that more than two people were living in the mansion, judging from the kind of cars and where they were parked. Finally, he got to the doorstep and knocked for the third time without getting any response. She turned to look at Marcus the moment she realized that he was standing right next to her, and he could see that gradually, the brightness all over her face was being drained. “Don’t worry, Gwen. I am sure that someone will come soon.” Marcus assured, but that had only been able to make her force a smile. She took a deep breath, and still holding onto the little hope she had in her, she knocked at the door, staring with wide eyes. Just when she was about to give up, the door was unlocked from the inside of the building, causing her to sigh heavily while she waited to

CHAPTER EIGHTY-SEVEN Scarlet almost spilled the hot coffee on her body. She jumped up from her chair and left for the garage calling out to the Chauffeur who followed her immediately. Sarah also rushed to the garage; she was the only one who knew which hospital Philip was admitted to, and Scarlet in her panic, forgot to ask. They soon got into the car and zoomed off. They got to the hospital to find Philip in bed with his left leg strapped up and hanging in a sling. He was unconscious with bruises all over his face. The sight of her only son in that awful state sent shivers down her spine, she called out to him but he was placed under anesthesia. Soon after Rebecca Philip’s younger sister walked into the ward, she was in her Religious attire, and for a moment, Scarlet forgot about her deep disapproval for the lifestyle her only daughter chose to live. They both embraced themselves in comfort. “It’s ok Mother, he will be fine. I promise.” Rebecca assured her mother who wept bitter

“How are we supposed to deal with this?” The cracked female voice whispered from the back, drawing Marcus’s attention, yet he refused to turn to see who it was. The hall was packed with people, but it was hard to tell whether they had come for the same reason as he. Holding tightly to the flute of champagne that the sommelier had offered him, he fixed his eyes on the stage, his brows hanging above his wide eyes. “When is the show going to start?” he grunted, slowly losing his patience. He decided to take another sip from the glass, but that was when he realized that he had already finished sipping the champagne.Out of frustration, he grunted again, looking around with his eyes sparking with annoyance. A few seconds later, one of the Sommeliers who was standing by hurried to him at once, holding onto the empty tray with one hand. “Do you need more wine, Sir?” He asked, bowing his head slowly.Marcus shook his head, unable to hide his disappointment. He looked at the empty gla

CHAPTER NINETY Lola parted her lips, but then she realized that she didn’t have any words to say to Marcus. She looked at the Sommelier as though she was expecting him to speak on her behalf, but the young man quickly looked away, taking a deep breath. Taking a deep breath, she returned her gaze to Marcus, still attempting to find the most suitable response to give. “Just give us a little more time, Mr. Trevor. I promise you that the event will start in earnest.” Her voice was firm, but her words were not reassuring.Marcus didn’t look like he was going to be able to hide his annoyance, looking her in the eyes with a twisted expression. “I really hope that your words are true, Miss. Thumbel.” He took a deep breath, and then he cleared his throat before he continued. “I will be here for the next thirty minutes and if by then the show still refuses to start, then I will be on my way.” Lola nodded, but she still showed signs that she wished that Marcus hadn’t said that. At that

CHAPTER NINETY-ONE “Thank you so much!” Wendy nodded, and then she adjusted before breaking her silence. It took a while, but she was able to get a grip on herself while trying to control her excitement that appeared too overplayed to Marcus as he kept staring with arched brows, his mind hoping to hear something very meaningful. “So…” Wendy cleared her throat to get rid of the clog that gripped her, her smile still intact. “This business is about cars, Mr. Trevor…”“Cars?”“Yes!” Wendy nodded, still staring at Marcus whose brows had been arched. At that moment, there was no way the young heir could deny the fact that he was interested to hearing more after the unusual statement by the lady. “I would love to continue the business of restoring cars to their good condition, and even making them look better. That is the dream I have always had for decades…” Marcus was silent, and even though it was very obvious that the lady still had a lot to say, he knew that he had to interrupt h
