51. The $20B Bounty
In the dead of the night, Elias stood inside the skeleton of an unfinished building on the edge of Greenville city, with his hands in his pockets. After standing for almost an hour, deliberate footsteps echoed from the far end of the structure, and a man wearing a long coat emerged from the darkness. “Punctual,” the man said lightly. “I like that.” Elias turned his head just enough to acknowledge him. “You’re the one who sent the message.” The man smiled. “Name’s Corvin Baines.” Corvin took a few steps closer, “I figured if anyone would come alone, it’d be you.” Elias didn’t reply. Suddenly, Elias sensed a deadly attack from where he was stood,, and he moved before the attack even existed. At that instant, a blade aimed straight for his spine flashed out of the darkness behind him, but it cut nothing but air. Elias twisted aside in one smooth motion and the dagger passed so close that he felt the wind of it. He pivoted, his elbow striking backward, forcing the attacker to stum
52. A New Bidder
Corvin didn’t stop there. The more Elias listened without reacting, the more he seemed to enjoy himself. He spread his arms slightly and started bragging. “You know,” he said, his voice carrying easily through the building. “I don’t just deal in power, i deal in people too.” Elias’s eyes sharpened. “I move humans the way others move weapons,” Corvin continued. “As in Human trafficking. You know what that means right?” He chuckled and winked.Elias said nothing. Corvin leaned closer and lowered his voice. “And you’re the finest gift I’ve seen in years. A Monarch Crown Bearer with no leash.” He shook his head slowly. “Do you know how much someone like you is worth? Alive or dead?” The wounded man beside him remained still. “When I kill,” Corvin went on, almost proudly, “I don’t rush it. I take my time. I cut people into pieces. Bit by bit. That’s my signature. I do whatever i do to make a statement.” He smiled thinly. “But out of respect for the Crown, I’ll be generous.” He strai
53. The Spoilt Heir Wants a Bite
The man walked confidently into the unfinished building, not surprised by the bodies sprawled across the floor. He entered, took a quick glance at Elias, before moving to the window. This was Lucien Virel. The son of one of the top three ruling families of the city. His Family don't just influence business or politics, they decide those who play the game as well. Lucien’s parents sat at the very peak of that hierarchy. Again, his gaze moved across the scene, from the fallen men, to Corvin frozen on the floor, with Elias’s dagger at his throat. Then he glanced at the entrance. As if on cue, two figures walked in quietly, their footsteps so light they barely registered against the concrete floor. They were dressed in fitted black, head to toe. They wore masks that covered their faces. The Twins of Death. They were holding Chinese hand fans, folded neatly. At first glance, the fans looked ceremonial, almost elegant. But anyone who knew better understood the lie in that appearance.
54. The Twins Of Death
Lucien finally lost his composure, rage flashing across his face as he looked down at Corvin’s lifeless body. “How dare you,” he snapped with outrage. “You shed blood in front of me like it’s nothing and you still have the guts to speak!”He lifted his hand and pointed straight at Elias. “Kill him.” The Twins of Death moved instantly. Their fans snapped fully open, the blades glinting as they split apart and circled Elias from both sides. One went left, the other right. Their steps were light, almost floating. Elias exhaled slowly. The first twin struck. The fan sliced through the air toward Elias’s neck, but Elias tilted his head a fraction and stepped back, the blade missed him by inches. Before the twin could recover, the second one came in low, aiming for Elias’s ribs. Elias twisted, grabbed the wrist mid-motion, and slammed his elbow into the twin’s shoulder. The impact sent a dull crack through the building. The twin staggered back, his eyes widening behind the mask. In
55. The Nightless City
The attack never got to Elias. The blade was destined for Elias’s back but Elias didn’t even turn around. He shifted his weight slightly and drove his elbow backward with terrifying accuracy, and the impact landed squarely on the twin's chest. The force threw him and his body slammed into the concrete with a sound that made the whole building tremble. Lucien dropped to the ground, staring in disbelief. Then Elias turned slowly and whatever restraint he had shown earlier was gone, with his expression shifting into rage. “I warned you,” Elias said quietly. “I warned you not to mess with me.” He stepped forward. Lucien scrambled backward, trying to create distance between himself and the approaching figure. But Elias moved towards the limp twin, grabbed him by the collar and yanked him up effortlessly, lifting him off the ground like dead weight, his feet kicking uselessly in the air. Elias leaned in close and locked eyes with him. “You had a chance to walk away,” he said evenly
56. The Little Spy
After pondering it for sometime, Elias finally agreed to follow her. After all, he wanted answers more than anything else. He thought aloud. Aftrewards, they left the hospital quietly. As they walked, Vera talked A lot. She asked him about the mountains first, how long he stayed there, what kind of people trained him. Then she drifted into lighter questions. Where he grew up, about Vanessa. At first, Elias answered calmly, keeping his tone relaxed, almost casual but along the line, something felt off. She had already said Vanessa told her a lot about him. Yet here she was, digging again, rephrasing questions and circling back to things she should already know. At that point, it felt like confirmation than curiosity. Elias smiled faintly and said, lightly, “Didn’t you say Vanessa already told you a lot about me?” She laughed nervously. “She did,” she said. “But stories sound different when they come from the person themselves. I just want to know what the Crown Bearer is really lik
57. The Middle Of Nowhere
Elias was still taking in the shift around him, when a large figure suddenly stepped forward from between two stalls. The man was massive. He had broad shoulders stretching the fabric of his coat, his arms was thick with muscle and his presence alone pushed the smaller people aside. “Well done,” the man said, his voice deep and satisfied. “You brought him exactly where we wanted.” In that instant, everything made sense to Elias. All along, everything was nothing but a trap. However, Elias didn’t flinch. He didn’t feel tense either. He simply reached up and removed his mask, letting it drop to the ground between his feet. His face was calm, as he looked around at the people closing in. Then he turned to the girl. “You set me up,” he said quietly. Her knees almost buckled. “I’m sorry,” she blurted out, panicking. “Please forgive me. I didn’t want to do this. I swear I didn’t.” Elias watched her closely. “Then why did you do it?” Tears spilled down her cheeks. “They poisoned Van
58. Henchmen Of The Nightless City
Truth was, the real boss of the Nightless City, whom Elias was looking for, who had placed a bounty on his head wasn't there in the city. But he had a second in command, who spoke for him when he didn’t want to show himself. Meanwhile, the person who had blackmailed Vera and had forced her into making a deal to lure Elias to the Nightless City wasn’t acting alone as well. He was just a henchman who works for the second in command and has been trusted enough to carry out the dirty works. The moment the murmurs reached a certain pitch, the henchman stepped forward, lifted his hand sharply, and said. “Take him.” His men moved immediately, grabbing Elias from both sides. Elias… didn’t resist. On seeing this, Vera's breath caught in her throat and her eyes widened in shock. This wasn’t what she had expected. Vanessa had said a lot about Elias, about how brutal he was and how he never bends to any will, no matter how much they were. So when the men moved forward to grab him, She had ex
59. Let The Main Party Begin
The first henchman’s face twisted in rage. “What the hell are you even saying?” he snapped, stepping forward, his voice booming across the alley. “You’re at the edge of death, Crown Bearer. That’s all this is. When people know they’re about to die, their minds start lying to them. You’re babbling nonsense.” A few people laughed nervously, but Elias didn’t flinch. Instead, he smiled. “You’re wrong,” he said calmly. “I’m perfectly clear headed.” The henchman scoffed. “Clear-headed?” He pointed at Elias. “You’re surrounded, outnumbered. And you think you—” Elias cut him off, his eyes sharpening. “You’re the crazy one,” he said, his voice sounding colder. “for thinking even for a second that you’re worthy of my head.” The words landed like a slap. Before the henchman could react, before the crowd could even gasp, Elias moved swiftly, that even the man holding the dagger to his neck barely felt it. One moment, Elias’s grip was tight, and in the next moment, he snapped his wrist in
Chapter 60. Showtime
Elias and Vera had already exchanged enough glances and half-sentences to understand each other. However, the first henchman hadn’t caught up to that reality yet. He straightened, heaved his chest, his eyes burning with fury. “What do you think you’re doing?” he barked, his voice echoing through the alley. “Do you think this is a game? You’ve been talking like the world answers to you. Who the hell do you think you are? News flash, You’re surrounded, Crown Bearer. If I were you, I'd drop the theatrics and start begging.” A few of the onlookers nodded nervously, while others watched in silence, as the tension grew. But Elias didn’t raise his voice. “Yes,” he said calmly, almost lazily. “It will be a game.” He took one slow step forward. “A game where heads roll,” Elias continued, his eyes locking onto the henchman’s, “and where the floor is painted red with your blood and that of your men, unless you tell me who your boss is.” The alley went quiet. Suddenly, the henchman burst ou
