Chapter 81
[Bravo Bull] activated! You regained your lost strength! The dragon considered his options. Brute strength hadn’t worked, but the dragon was more than fire breath and physical force. He was smart.Sen deactivated Spell Purge, then used his blinkblink ring to become invisible while the cloud still shrouded him. Struggling against the itching and the pain, Sen managed to catch up to the Iron Eagle, flying discreetly above its back. The moth glanced overboard, looking for Sen’s corpse.“Is he dead?” Maure rejoiced, as he began to bark more orders. “Carpet the ground to be sure, and that ugly village with it!”“SURPRISE ATTACK!” Sen shouted as he blasted the moth with a fireball. The explosion destroyed a large part of the flying fortress’ back and sent the Demon King to crash on the left wing of the bird. Half his body had been burnt to a crisp.“I am smart enough not to give you a chance to run around this time!” Sen said, slightly insecure about his intelligence score and eager to show

"Minion?" Sen repeated, now worryingly, but yet no one answered. “Minion?”The seed of doubt worming itself in his mind, Sen searched for his prized lackey. He watched his minions, led by the Kobold Rangers, fight off stragglers while Sweet Chocolatine captured imps in fishnets. The minions cheered Sen as he flew over them, as they should. He didn’t land to ask them, for, with his damaged wing, he knew he couldn’t fly again after landing. The dragon went north, towards the sheeps’ pens, finding his dragon guests feasting on his pantry. Corpseling Jules and Rolo the golem tended to his chief of staff, laying in the dirt and surrounded by other crying minions, from Malfy the fiend to that reptilian Savoureuse. Sen graciously landed nearby, covering the minions with dust.“Ah… ah... ah minion, here you are,” Sen said while catching his breath. He immediately noticed that his lackey had grown wings and a tail, just like his master! What a faithful chief of staff. Sen didn’t have the heart
Chapter 83
“I’m sorry, but you can’t get into Heaven right now.”Sitting on a chair in the middle of an endless, white expanse, Kyle glared at Miel. The angel winced behind her ivory desk, the enormous pile of paper representing his case sitting on it. “But you said I would get in Heaven if I died in the line of duty against the forces of Hell!”“That would be if you had taken the Heaven+ Plan, instead of the Standard Karma Insurance.”“I didn’t know I would die in weeks!”Also, death hurt like Hell.At least Brandon Maure died, from what Miel told him. Sen’s guests, proving almost as dangerous as him, had eaten their way to victory both on Melromac and Hell.“Unfortunately, you also died protecting a village of monsters where demons buy souls openly and most citizens have an evil or chaotic karma,“ the angel replied, embarrassed. “I will do everything I can so we accept you into Heaven on merit since you were instrumental in the bankruptcy of Maure Hellcorporated, but you may have to wait month

Classic merchant, wording the request by implying he already accepted.Kyle hesitated. The other options weren’t all that good, but returning to Melromac meant continuing his life as a minion, with all that it entailed. But…Kyle thought back about what Savoureuse told him, before the fight with Furibon. That he had the opportunity to make a good life in that new world instead of trying to chase after the past.Kyle would never admit it out loud, but he had grown attached to Melromac, and the people he met there. Even that crazy dragon.Especially that dragon.“Will I still get into Heaven if I return?” he asked Miel.“You will have to take a new insurance plan,” Miel flashed a smile at him, which he didn’t find innocent at all. “A better one this time.”That settled it.“Excellent choice,” Shesha said, happy with the transaction. She touched his left arm with her cold fingers, a tattoo representing a coin with a snake symbol on it materializing on his skin.Congratulations! You earne
Chapter 85
Sen's gluttonous guests had gathered in Murmurin’s town square for the main feast, after yesterday’s elf appetizers. Dragons rested and talked, either on the ground or on nests made of the minions’ houses, as Sen’s lackeys supplied them with a near-limitless supply of sheep, cattle, and cooked fiends.Without a hoard to show—the thought alone broke Sen’s heart, although he was too dignified to cry—the Emperor of Murmurin had ordered half his minions to serve the meals to distract the dragons, and the other half to recover anything that could pass for treasure.Thankfully, the moth’s army had left gifts behind after dying or retreating, including inside the wreckage of their metal bird. Shiny weapons, glittering armor, and the cattle money the moth’s minions had been paid with...There was a startling lack of swords, though. Sen had expected the mimic retriever to bring at least one of them. His remaining minions, those who had survived the battle, had done their best, gathering a larg

“Were you not informed?” Manling Roland asked. “I froze your bounty a month ago. I asked that no adventurer of Gardemagne go after your head.”“Aw, but that was free experience and treasures!” Sen complained.“Your Majesty, we left the previous hideout because they kept bothering us,” Manling Kyle reminded him. “Also, I’m pretty sure we’ve made many enemies who will love to go after our heads.”Manling King Roland cleared out his throat. “Bounties are for enemies, and I would like to come as a friend.”“Only Manling Kyle earned that title,” Sen chastised the upstart, the statement taking back the various manlings.“Then, as a good neighbor,” King Roland replied. “I have no quarrel with you, so long as you return my niece to me.”“I, Sen, unlike you robbers, do not tax or infringe on my minions’ private property,” Sen replied smugly. “I shall release your princess back into the wild after tonight. But you better grant me my promised boon.”“Of course,” King Roland replied, proving hims

“Yes, you heard that right! I, Sen, have grown a hoard so big, that I can afford to spend it!”His radical declaration drew gasps from the audience, as he proceeded to turn this disaster into a triumph.“That’s how rich I am!” Sen kept boasting. “I am so wealthy, that I could spend twelve million gold coins on reviving one minion!”“Heresy!” Vren screamed, the other guests speechless at his brazen words. “A dragon does not spend his hoard!”“That is a poor dragon’s response!” Sen retorted, his rival fuming at the insult. “A truly wealthy dragon should be so rich, that twelve million coins are no more precious than one!”“Then where is the rest?” One of the dragon guests asked.“Look around you!” Sen extended a hand towards his marvelous lands. “This is my hoard! I, Sen, have founded an empire on the enlightened dragon principles! A country where no minions ever leave my service, even in death, where demons can trade souls without paying taxes to manlings! An empire where greed is law!
Chapter 88
“Bye Sen!” one of his last dragon guests said, flying away under the midday sun. “Amazing Bragging Day!”“Of course, it was mine!” Sen replied, which left his close family as the only remaining dragons. “Aww, you’re leaving?”“I do not want to leave my hoard unattended for long,” Genialissime replied, his mate Blightswamp at his side. “You know how many greedy ratlings live near my place. You avoid eating them for a year, and then they forget the food chain.”“Uncle Sen, Uncle Sen!” Jolie could scarcely stay in place. “Can I make my lair nearby? I want to become a great adventurer just like you!”“Jolie, there is a big flying city full of tasty elves and demons which now belongs to me,” Sen replied, happy to have company. “I will gladly let you settle there!”“Great!” Jolie squealed in happiness. “I will bring my hoard there!”“It was the best Bragging Day of the century,” Genialissime congratulated Sen. “I cannot wait to test my new magical powers on my cattle!”“Just wait for my new
Chapter 89
Come to think of it, Sen had never punished the thieves who dared lie about killing him. With his Bragging Day done, he could finally focus on finding them. Then he would eat them, and take their cattle.“Ugh…” Kyle woke up, his eyelids were heavy. His sworn enemy, natural light, assaulted him relentlessly. “My head…”He had tried his best to drink himself into oblivion after last night’s disaster. Due to his Red Dragon Lifeforce, he had needed a lot of alcohol for it to stick, but he had managed to overcome it.Kyle managed to open his eyes, his mind foggy. His back and neck hurt like hell, and his eyes struggled to become accustomed to the lighting. What happened? He remembered the dragons’ mass discovery of the system, Kia getting angry at him for the whole ‘Soul Nethermart’ thing, teaching Beer Pong to Sav and Jules, asking Allison how he could convert to Cybele, the gnoll bum fight, comforting Charlene after Croissant drunkenly admitted that he fed her cakes to fatten her for din
Chapter 90
“Good morning, Miss Kia. Indeed, I am now a full-fledged heaven counselor. I must inform you that you should upgrade your subscription to Heaven+. For your sake.”Angels. Meaning well, but pushy.“Look at that,” the bug fiend’s tone turned venomous. “A redemption chaser. Let me guess, your subscriptions are down again, and you have come to learn from the better multiplanar company?”“Those are donations, and they are up!” Miel replied, the mere sight of the fiend angering her. “In fact, I have come to prospect new cli—new believers!”“Prospect?! This is our market! We took it from Maure Hellcorporated, now it’s our turn to establish a monopoly!”“Since it is a ‘free market economy’, as you slimy sales demon said, the higher-ups want to invest there,” Miel replied, showing the fiend a contract. “I have received the authorization of the Grand Vizier himself!”“You... You will not steal our market share!” Malfaisant protested, much to Kia’s joy.“The goddess, Shesha, also voiced her inte
