A woman bumped into him. “Heyy…watch it,” she snapped, then hurried off. Noah stepped aside near a closed storefront. His phone vibrated in his hand. Sarah. “There’s a new development,” she said without greeting. “No,” Noah said. “What is it now?” “A journalist just published documents. Partial ones. Screenshots. Internal language.” His stomach dropped. “A journalist?” “Jonah Price.” Noah swore quietly. “I never contacted him.” “I know,” Sarah said. “That’s why I’m scared.” The system cut in. Noah stood at the ATM with his card already halfway in. The street was loud. Cars. A bus hissing. Someone arguing on the phone behind him. He slid the card in. The machine whirred. Then stopped. "Please wait," the screen said. Noah frowned. "Come on." He tapped his foot. Tried again. The screen flashed red. TRANSACTION DECLINED "That's weird," he muttered. He pulled the card out and slid it back in. Before the machine could respond, the world dimmed for a split second. A single line burned across his vision. `ACCOUNT FREEZE: 5 SECONDS` His breath caught. "What?" he whispered. The screen blinked. Four. Three. He turned sharply, looking around as if someone might be watching him. Two. The machine beeped. One. The screen refreshed. ACCOUNT UNAVAILABLE Noah stared. A man behind him cleared his throat.
