A BOOK THAT CONTAINS IT ALL
Janet stared at me for a long time. Her gaze landed on the book. "What do you plan on doing with it?" she asked I was not sure I was ready to see what it holds, but one thing was certain. I wanted to know more. I want to know if I was indeed a Donald or if I was nothing more than an instrument Mac was ready to use to his advantage. Janet could see the look on my face. She slowly walked to my side and sat down. She placed her hands slowly on my lap. "Why don't you get a cold shower? Eat and relax. Maybe then, you can think of what you really want to do." She stares back at her. "What if it contains secrets that are going to bring more danger into my life?" I asked, my eyebrows arched. Janet sighs. "You are in danger already, Dan. Don't you see what is going on here?" she asked, her eyebrows flipped upward. "Almond clearly wants the book, and it is only a matter of time before Dac comes knocking at your door. Whatever is in that book is something powerful men are willing to kill
WHO AM I?
I kept reading and reading, but it seems I don't understand at all. The book contained some bitter truth and a hard nut to crack. Who am I? I shut the book and get up from bed. Janet was asleep. Absent the trauma that was going on right inside of me. Was I a Donald or Kentucky? The Kentucky family was oblivious, or should I say they ceased to exist, and I could barely understand what Mac was trying to explain. I walked towards the bottle of whiskey that was placed on the table and gulped the little liquid that I poured into the wine glass. The scotch burned my throat, but it did nothing to calm the rage I was feeling. Everything was tied back to the Donald. I remembered a name that caught my eyes. Tara, Kentucky. She was married to Mac even though Dac wanted her to be his wife. Janet made a sleepy sound, and I turned back to see her yawn. [Phone beep]I grabbed my phone only to see that it was the marriage paparazzi between the Sinclair and Dac. Tomorrow was going to be a
THE TWO POWERFUL FAMILIES
Janet didn’t answer immediately. She just stood there, watching me like someone measuring how much truth I could take before breaking. The silence stretched, thick and suffocating, until even the ticking clock seemed to grow impatient. I clenched my jaw. “Answer me, Janet. What is it that you are hiding this time?" She exhaled slowly, then walked past me toward the window. The curtains swayed slightly as she pulled them aside, letting the faint glow of the city lights spill into the room. “You didn’t steal anything knowingly, Dan,” she began. “But your existence… your very existence took everything from him.” My fists tightened. “That doesn’t make any sense." “It does,” she replied, turning back to face me. “But only if you understand who your mother really was.” My heart skipped. There it was again—that missing piece. “That’s exactly what I’ve been trying to figure out,” I said, my voice lower now, controlled. “Who. Is. She?” Janet hesitated. For the first
DAC THE MANIPULATOR, DAC THE DESTROYER
Janet smirked. Walking away from me. "You need to read the journal, Dan. And stop brooding. I know you are bothered about who you are and why everything seems to revolve around you." I ran my hands through my hairs. "Is this easy for me?" I stared at her face. "Everyone's life is complicated, Dan. You think yours is pretty messed up? But do you know why I had to marry you? Do you know why I had to do this?" Janet said, raising her voice a bit."I know you love me, Janet. "I think that is enough," I replied. Janet said nothing. She only stared at me for quite a while. She walked slowly towards me and grabbed my hands. "You worry a lot, Daniel. Why don't you relax and let's worry about tomorrow?" The room went silent. My gaze shifted back to the book and back to her face. "You can continue reading this when you are really ready to find out more." She said slowly, dragging me to the bed. "Fine. But you need to stop killing secrets from me." "I promise." We kissed and bid goo
THE WEDDING
It was glamorous. Almost like when I took Janet to the altar. The reporters swarm like a bee towards me the moment I got out of the car forgetting it was Dac and Linda getting married. " What do you have to say about this, Mr Dan?" " Are you okay calling the Sinclair family after what they did to you?" " Do you think you can ever forgive them?" " Tell us what you think, Mr Dan?" " Did Linda apologize for the ill treatment?"Question kept flying from all directions towards me. Question that I wanted to answer but I couldn't. The answer was going to set the whole busking a blaze but still, I kept my coolness. I looked ahead and I saw Gerald and Penelope. The man who had made my life a living hell. And he was soon going to regret that. I let out a soft smile." Today is not about me. Today is about my uncle and his wife. While don't we focus on that please." I said walking out on them.Janet immediately grabbed my hands. It was almost like she could feel the storm building rig
A MAN WHO NEEDS TO DIE
A loud murmur rippled through the entire hall with all the audience wondering what could be happening. "Is that real?" "It must be a prank." "What is going on?" A lot of them kept talking at once, so the hall felt a bit noisy. Dac's gaze locked on me for a few minutes. "Did you do this?" he asked with a feisty tone. I let out a weak laugh. "Nah, my gift for your early wedding is not now." I said with a gusty tone. The DJ at the wedding quickly played a wedding song, trying to calm the raging tension. Dac turned back to face one of his men. "Tell them to take it down, or I am going to kill the man in charge of it!" Linda, on the other hand, looked scared. Since her time dating Dac, she has never seen him so scared. That would make it the second time she was going to be seeing the look of anxiety on him. Dac turned to face me yet again. "It is quite funny to see you trying all your might to stop me when it is your so-called uncle you need to be scared of." His words meant n
ANOTHER BULLET SHELL FOUND
Gerald’s smile didn’t falter. If anything, it widened—calm, controlled, almost rehearsed.“You’ve always been emotional, Dan,” he said smoothly, his hand still hanging in the air between us. “That’s your biggest weakness. You let feelings cloud logic.”I didn’t take his hand.Instead, I stepped closer.“So this is logic to you?” I asked, my voice dropping low enough that only he and Penelope could hear. “Destroying lives, burying secrets, pretending like nothing happened? You honestly think I am going to forget all of that?" Penelope shifted beside him, her fingers tightening around her clutch. Unlike Gerald, she wasn’t as composed. Her eyes darted briefly around the hall, as if checking who might be watching.“Dan,” she said softly, almost with a smirk on her face. “This isn’t the place for this... Why don't we..." “No,” I cut in sharply. “This is exactly the place. A wedding, right? A celebration? Seems fitting for people who build their happiness on other people’s misery.”Gerald
THE SNIPER MAN
" I got it!" I said jubilating. " You did? You found another bullet shell?" Janet asked " Yes. I am coming out now!" I said over the coms. I was about reaching for the door handle when I heard a footsteps approaching the door. Hide! My brain swing into motion and I immediately walked to the back of the shelves. There was a joke I could peep from. Seeing who was coming into the room was quite easy. The door handle moved and slowly the man walked in. He was wearing a hoodie over his face. At his back pocket was a pistol. I shut my eye and held my bresth. I remembered the sniper man who killed Maxwell. He was working for someone, probably Dac. His eyes scanned the room like he was looking for something. What was he looking for and did Dac send him?He was about leaving when he halted. The hair at the back of my head stand up. " Are you alright, Dan?" Janet asked My breathing became shallow. " No I am not." I said firmly. The hoodie man stopped again, his eyes darted towards
OLD NEMESIS
The words had barely left my mouth before my body kicked into motion. Adrenaline still surged through my veins, hot and electric, pushing away the trembling that threatened to slow me down. I grabbed Janet’s wrist—not roughly, but firmly enough to make it clear we didn’t have time to argue—and pulled her toward the door.“Move,” I said sharply. She didn’t resist this time.We stepped over the man’s body, his blood slowly spreading across the floor. For a split second, Janet hesitated, her gaze lingering on him.“Dan…” she whispered.“Don’t,” I cut in. “Not now.”"Nobody saw me come in, and I am sure no one saw you too. This is never on us. We are leaving now!" I snapped. I pry open the door, making sure none of the servants heard a sound. The house was soundproof; I knew it was going to be difficult for any of them to hear the commotion that was going on in Dac's office. The hallways were silent. The noise of dishes and noise from the servants could be heard in the distance.“W
DANGER!
"You shouldn't have promised him that!" Janet said angrily as she stepped into the house."Really?" I said with my gaze furrowed. "What was I supposed to do?" I walk through the staircase to grab the medic kit. I could hear Janet wincing in pain. As I walked down, I could see she was fading already. She was losing too much blood. "You could have given him anything aside from that." "Can you stop talking? Do you think Almond is a fool?" I said with a sharp gaze. "And what is your plan exactly? I told you everything that you need to know, Dan," Janet said, raising her brows. "You told me nothing! The book is my only guarantee now that I can make them all pay. If you truly want to help me, then you need to start talking. Tell me what I need to know. Tell me what you know that is not recorded in the book." I sat down with the medic box and flung it open. Janet let out a shaky breath, her lips trembling as she watched me tear through the medic kit with impatient hands. The metalli
