DEATH OF A LOVING WIFE
The door was immediately brought down by Dac's men. They walked into the house like it was owned by Dac himself while they immediately surrounded me. "What is this madness, Dac?" I snapped, my eyebrows laced with anger. Dac smirked. "Well, well, well. Isn't this lovely," he said with a smile. His gaze swept through the apartment while landing on Janet who was on the couch. "Have you been threatening me?" Dac asked "Is this about what happened at the wedding?" I asked, slightly lowering the gun in my hand. "You seem to know more than you are letting on, Dan. You can either tell me what you know or I am going to kill her, little by little." My heart jumped. The thought of losing the only person who mattered scared the hell out of me. "Really? You broke into my house, and you dare accuse me of something that I didn't do! How dare you?" I barked. One of his men moved swiftly; he knocked me with the edge of his gun, and I fell to the ground with a loud thud.
THE AWAKENING
The sound of the gun faded as I stood still, his face pale. I felt his legs heavy, and he could barely move. For a moment, the world stopped. No movement. No breath. No thought. Nothing! Janet’s body slumped sideways on the couch, her head falling gently against the armrest as though she had simply grown tired. But the stillness… the unnatural stillness… said everything I refused to accept. “Janet…?” I called out with a shaky breath. No answer came back. Just the cold look on Janet's face after the sound of the gun. A sharp ringing consumed my ears, drowning out everything else. The men, the room, even Dac’s presence—all of it faded into a distant blur. My legs felt weak, but I forced myself forward, each step heavier than the last. “Janet… wake up,” I whispered, my hands trembling as he reached her. I touched her shoulder, but it was cold. Life fleeing from her body already. “No… no, no, no…” my voice cracked, rising into panic. “Janet! Stay with me!
BACK TO LIFE
Darkness. That was what death felt like. Immediately Dan closed his eyes; it felt like an endless pit, and he wouldn't stop falling. After a while, he landed on the ground. An abyss that seems endless.A blinding light flashed towards him. Dan immediately shielded his eyesight. When he peeped, he saw a man walking out of the light. He was a bit old and had grey hairs. The moment he walked closer, his face slowly started to change into that of a young man. He stood still in front of Dan with a curious gaze. "And who are you?" he asked."Where am I?" Dan asked, his gaze fixed on the man in front of him. "You are nowhere and at the same time you are everywhere. "This is the abyss. A place meant for those who are about to die," the man replied. Relieve washed over me the moment the man finished his words. I shut my eyes as I remembered the gunshot and Janet's pale face. Tears welled my eyes. "And why am I not dead?" I asked. My man stared longer and, time around, he grabbed m
POWER TO BRING BACK TO LIFE
I stared at Janet's body for a long time. It seems she was dead and was not coming back to life. Tears well up on my face. It almost looked like I was cursed. Maybe Janet would still be alive if she hadn't met me.The thought kept coming back to mind until I heard that tiny voice. My face lit up with joy. I turned to slowly see the light coming back to her face. "Janet? Are you..." I dropped down to her side. "Oh my god. You are alive, baby." I said grabbing her close to my chest. Janet coughed and sneezed at a time. "Am I..." she asked, her gaze darting back and forth. Janet looked at me and then cried. "Am I dead?" she asked with a shaky voice. "No, baby. "You are not dead. You were asleep for a long time that I began to fear that you were dead," I said immediately. The moment felt tense. Janet sobbing and my heart racing like hell. I remembered my father's words. If I could bring back the dead, then do Almond and Dac know about this? This was a game changer for a lot o
A HAPPY MAN
The moment Dac got back home. He was met at the door by his wife.Linda. "Where have you been, husband?" she asked, her gaze landing on the black book he was holding. "Trying to make things work out." Dac said with a smiling face. "You won't have to worry about him anymore." Linda's eyebrows arched. "By him, you mean who?" she asked. "Daniel." He won't be a problem anymore. I took care of it." Dac looked at the last man standing. "You have done well, spider." You are now the first-rank up man in my house. You have unlimited access to everyone and everything except me." The man who has a laceration on his face immediately fell to his knees. "Thank you, boss. I promise not to fail you," he said with a happy face.Dac turned as he climbed the stairs to his room, "No." You won't. If you do…" A slight pause. "I am going to kill you myself," he said and kept walking. A snap of Linda's hand made all the servants rush, each of them setting the dining table. Linda climbed immediate
TRADE BY BARTER
As Linda digested the exquisite food in front of her, she couldn't quite understand what was going on. Unlike the other men she had been with, they were easy to read, study, and understand, but the man seated in front of her was unreasonable. His gaze was too sharp, and it feels like he was always in check of whatever it was he was doing. "Is the food not up to your taste?" he asked, his gaze lifted from the golden plate he was eating fromLinda gulped down the food in her throat and forced a smile. "It is chewy and lovely," she complimented with a smile. "Good. Because I need you to answer a few questions," Dac said afterwards. Linda's heart raced the moment he said those words. She knew there was a catch. "What questions?" she asked, slightly dropping her fork. Dac stopped eating for a second. His gaze hardened for a bit, but it disappeared like the wind with a calm smile. "Eat." he commanded Linda's face went pale. She had never been under duress with any of her men befor
THE SINCLAIR'S IN TROUBLE
Dac stared at Linda whose face was paled. " Did you father had me followed?" he asked with a stern gaze. The V.I.P lounge was quiet as many of the people had fled the scene. " No! I don't know anything about this." Linda said in tears. " Shhh...shh.." Dac walked back to her side, his hand slowly caressing her hair. " Of course you don't. I think it is high time we call a small family gathering. Don't you think?" Dac asked Linda only nodded. " Good. Send a message to your father telling him I would love to host him." Linda stared at Dac and was not sure if he meant now or later. " Now!" Dac barked. Linda immediately grabbed her phone and texted her father to invite him for a dinner with Dac. Dac grabbed the white handkerchief off the table and wiped his hands. His gaze darted towards the man he has just killed and back at the owner of the lounge. " You are going to get rid of the body and make sure no one knows what happend here. Is that clear?" he said at the yo
DINNER TROUBLE
Dac stared at Gerald and smirked, " Are you enjoying your meal?" he asked raising his eyes slightly just in time to see his facial expression. " Yes. I must say you have a lovey taste when it comes down to selecting the best chefs." Dac laughed trying to brighten the tensed mood. " What can I say? We are known for the very best. The Donald's are not only rich but we have powers to make things disappear real fast." Gerald dropped his cutlery. " What are you trying to say?" He grabbed a white handkerchief and cleaned his mouth. Linda's face went pale and she could barely breath. " Did you have someone snoop around me?" Dac asked, his gaze hardened. " And why would you think I did that? You are my son-in-law. Why do I have to go hiring some man to snoop around?" Gerald said with anger Dac smiled. " It was just an hunch. I must have killed the wrong man then. I a sorry to have disturbed you." he said immediately. Gerald looked at Penelope and back at Linda. He slowly
The trap
Gerald’s breath hitched the moment the gun touched the polished surface of the table. The soft click of metal against marble sounded louder than it should have—like a final verdict. No one moved. No one dared to.Linda’s fingers tightened around her mother’s arm until her knuckles turned white. Penelope winced slightly but didn’t pull away. Her eyes were fixed on the weapon, then slowly lifted to Dac’s face—searching, pleading, trying to find the man she once believed her daughter had married. The man who single-handedly helped when Daniel was breathing down on their neck real hard. But the man standing before them now… felt like a stranger.Dac leaned back slightly, his expression calm, almost amused, as though he were watching a performance instead of orchestrating one.“Well?” he said, his voice smooth. “I believe it’s your turn to explain, Gerald.”Gerald swallowed hard. His mind raced, scrambling for something—anything—that could pull them out of this situation without bloodshe
A HEALING BLOOD
Things haven't been the same ever since I woke up back to life. I could tell Janet was going to figure it out anytime soon, but then, I have to understand what I am. The only way to do that was the book. I have to get it back from Dac. I had to find it, but I didn't risk letting him know I was alive. I knew that by now. Janet, on the other hand, was freaking out. She walked into my room, her body inclining against the door. "What is your plan, Dan? We can stay in hiding. "This is now two weeks of silence and doing nothing," she said with brows arched. I raised my head slowly and stared at her. "You need to understand that Dac is after me. I don't think I would be safe anymore than I am right now, Janet. I need to figure out what I really am." Janet smiled, her feet echoing as she walked closer towards me. "You are not just anyone, Dan. You are from a powerful bloodline, and you need to stop treating yourself like an imposter. Dac and Almond should be scared of you and not the o
