The Hero Won, For Now
It was raining. The outside of the castle was covered in bodies. Some humans were fighting demons, and it took at least eight humans to fight a demon on equal footing. Neither elves nor dwarves could match demons in combat. The beastfolk could almost reach a demon's level, but they were still weak, far too weak.Inside the royal hall, two men faced each other. One wore heavy armor, golden and filled with crystal adornments. The crystals served to enhance the strength of whoever wore the armor. The other man was a demon, stronger than the rest. He had two large horns and ears similar to those of elves. He wore no armor. The red clothing he wore seemed as resilient as armor, even though it was made of red silk fabric."You are better than I thought, hero," the demon said to the armored man.The man laughed, but said nothing.A woman entered the hall. She wore a long red dress, and her full breasts drew the hero's attention. He could not contain his carnal desires. The demon simply watch
We Are Broke
The eight generals were kneeling. The Demon Lord remained silent, lost in thought."I lost the bet. I took a scratch on my face, and with that, the hero won. Since I must keep my word, for exactly one thousand years we will not attack any human without cause. But when that time passes, then we will be able to attack with all our strength and conquer this world."The generals celebrated his words. They did not seem to care about having to wait a thousand years before returning to battle."You were very kind to the humans. Not that I am questioning it, but are you sure this is a good thing?""That does not matter. I made an agreement, and I must honor it."He stood up, raised his right hand into the air, and used all his mana to raise a barrier around the entire tower."We will maintain our duties as always. Stay at your posts and relax a little. This barrier is almost impossible to break.""You could have asked Niko to do this. Your mana is far too precious to be used this way," Lysand
We’re Out Of Milk
Miko was eating a piece of cake in Vans's room. She watched him make potions while also analyzing his use of mana. She seemed to judge his mana control, since she did not have to worry about that due to the almost infinite amount she possessed. He had to restrain his usage, because he could run out of mana and faint."I know what you're thinking, your judging look says it all," he said as he placed several potion bottles into a box.She said nothing, only continued her silent judgment while eating the cake."I don't understand why we're not infiltrating now. What's the difference between going now or two hundred years from now?""Some kingdoms are destroyed, others are trying to recover, and some no longer exist and might be rebuilt. There isn't much to be done up there right now. Besides, humans are suspicious. Even with all the knowledge we have, we still don't understand their behavior very well, and in this case it's risky. In two hundred years everything will change and they'll b
Inside The Forest
The mana emanating from the forest was extremely dense and caused discomfort in Niko and Vesta, as they were more sensitive to mana. Victor also felt some discomfort, but it was far weaker. Pallas felt nothing at all. He only used mana to strengthen his body and had not developed all his senses for that energy.Vesta heard a sound and quickly drew her sword, cutting off the arm of an orc. It moved very fast and was far larger than a normal orc. Its arm regenerated, and the monster quickly attacked Vesta, but she was fast and managed to evade the blow. Victor snapped his fingers and teleported behind the orc, but the monster perceived his position and struck him. Victor was thrown against a tree. He got up quickly, furious, and used water magic on the orc's head. It seemed useless, as the orc continued its rapid attacks. Vesta kept striking it, but the orc kept recovering."Leave it to me, get back," Pallas said. His movements were extremely fast, so fast they were hard to follow. The
Confrontation In The Forest
Lysandra and Eris arrived and walked calmly toward the others. They were shocked when they saw the crater filled with monsters. Eris felt extremely energized, since she fed on mana.Vesta explained everything that had happened, along with the hypothesis that there might be a traitor. The idea was shocking and very hard to believe.Eris was very suspicious and, even so, it took her a long time to accept the possibility that someone from the Tower could be a traitor. She was wary, but she did not believe anyone would be capable of something like that, which contrasted with her usual behavior. The two larger dragons were sleeping. The smaller dragon was circling the sphere, and it seemed to enjoy the energy the sphere emanated. The other monsters were acting normally, patrolling the crater on watch. The sphere was far larger than any mana sphere Vesta had ever seen. These spheres are usually found inside dungeons. Some are extracted and used as energy sources for cities. They are used fo
I Can Clone The Sheep
Vans was excited, he had never seen a mana crystal like that. The largest mana crystal Vans had ever seen was the one in the Tower dungeon, but it was much smaller than this one, which was the size of a house."How can we destroy this crystal?""I have no idea. Destruction usually happens in two ways. The first involves removing the crystal from its place of creation. This process can cause the crystal to break and become unusable, but even then some fragments still retain energy, and some people use those fragments instead of a full crystal. The second way involves using some kind of weapon and breaking it, but that is dangerous, since the crystal can explode depending on the concentration of mana. The problem is that it is difficult to be certain whether it will explode or not.""So what will we do?""Eris can absorb all the energy, but she would need to use magic to expend the absorbed mana.""Isn't that dangerous?""No. I have a limit to how much I can absorb, I cannot go beyond t
Mirel
Lysandra and Niko were secretly observing Mirel. They were using a few magical artifacts provided by Vans. The artifacts could record images and later transmit them to another artifact. The two stayed in a room next to Victor's office, working in different shifts. They were able to know everything Mirel was doing, or almost everything. The bedroom and bathrooms were restricted zones, but all public spaces were under surveillance, even the dungeon. This gave them a clear view of how she behaved day to day, and it only made them hate Mirel even more. They already knew how strict and arrogant Mirel was, but through the surveillance they saw something far worse. Mirel shouted, gave senseless orders, and constantly abused her authority. She was the worst general the Demon Lord had. Worse than Lotus, who was incompetent at his job, but at least he was kind.Niko wanted to kill Mirel with her own hands, and she did not hide that at all in the reports she wrote. Lysandra was more cautious, bu
New General
Everyone in the Tower learned about Mirel's betrayal. The soldiers and servants were not very surprised. No one there liked her, everyone had some issue with her or a hidden resentment. She had always been detestable. With her death, everything seemed to improve, and no further supply problems occurred. The treasury room was full, many potions, scrolls, crystals, gold, and other metals. But something was missing, mythril. This metal grew in dungeons with a high population density, and the Tower dungeon had too few monsters. Vans came up with the idea of connecting the forest crystal to the dungeon and increasing the mana density. With that, more monsters would appear, and mythril might emerge. The idea was risky, but Victor agreed, as long as he and the other generals took part in the culling alongside many soldiers. He wanted to avoid another problem.Vans began the preparations. He seemed to have greater knowledge, which he truly did, but at that moment he was projecting confidence.
Niko Is Not a Child
Vans was analyzing the reports from the magical terminal, he was confused, the spell had ended much later than he had programmed. They had slept for two hundred and fifty years."You used to be better, Vans," Niko said."Did you identify any error in the system?""No, no error that I could notice, it just went wrong. But I do not see this as something very bad.""In fact, it was only fifty extra years, but what I am curious about is your mistake, Niko."She changed her expression."I did not make any mistake, the golems were not made to last that long, that is why they broke and the monster stampede happened."Victor accepted it."What will we do now?""We need to plan. My idea is that we first explore the surface, little by little we will integrate, but we need to take some precautions, like setting days when each person can go out and not raise suspicion. Besides that, we need to encourage couples to have children, we need to increase our numbers.""And how will we do that?""Simple
Village
Vans was investigating why the barrier had broken, but he could not discover anything. The most likely hypothesis was that Mirel had broken the barrier before being killed. Victor did not like the answer, but it was the only one Vans could give, so he accepted it. Even without knowing why she had done it or how the crystal had appeared in the forest."How much longer?" Victor asked."Not much, I have already sent the golems to the surface, soon we will have images of how everything looks."Vans touched several crystals, he was careful and all of his movements looked rehearsed. He knew what he was doing, but Niko did not see it that way, and she was holding herself back to avoid making a joke about him."Here, we already have some images," he said as he placed them on several screens that were sustained by Niko's mana. Two golems were walking through a forest, another golem could fly, showing a village about two thousand miles away. The village was small, but it had at least thirty hou
