CHAPTER 1: BLOODLESS BAG
The heavy scent of an unfamiliar cologne and sweat hit Zachary Fields before he even turned the handle.‘Huh? Elise doesn't have this Cologne… maybe it's a new one.’He had come here with a heart full of worry, clutching the phone that displayed a frantic text from his girlfriend, Elise.[Zachary, please come over. I’m scared. I need your help.]He didn’t even knock. His hand was on the cold metal of the knob when the sound pierced through the wood; a wet, rhythmic slapping followed by a high-pitched, breathless moan that Zachary knew all too well. But the low, guttural grunt that followed it didn't belong to him.Zachary kicked the door open. The scene inside was a jagged blade to the chest. Elise, naked as the day she was born, was tangled in the sheets with a man whose face was flushed with exertion. She bolted upright, her eyes widening as they landed on Zachary’s pale, trembling form."Zachary?" she gasped, her voice more annoyed than guilty as she tried to tug up the sheets hig
CHAPTER 2: A DRAGON REBORN
Zachary couldn't describe the sensations he was currently feeling. The weakness that had plagued him for months, the anemia from the transplant and the exhaustion from working like a slave for a woman who apparently never loved him, was incinerated in an instant.Crack. Crack. Crack. His shattered ribs knitted back together with audible snaps. His muscles, once withered from overwork, surged with a density that defied human biology.Boom!Something seemed to crash in his brain and a flood of information exploded in his mind, thousands of years of forbidden combat arts and profound cultivation techniques. It was a legacy of blood and power he didn't yet understand, but he felt the result immediately. When the tide of sensations finally simmered out, Zachary was left breathing heavily, mouth gaping as he sucked in harsh bursts of air.‘What just happened?’ he thought, swallowing thickly from the shock of it all.He looked down at his hands, the veins in his arms and what little he could
CHAPTER 3: THE PRICE OF POWER
Zachary’s grip tightened on the Void Card. The red light in his eyes flared in response to the simmering rage within him. He met his father's gaze, a silent battle of wills playing out between them.“Fine,” Zachary said, the word clipped and edged with steel. He wouldn’t pretend to be grateful, not after twenty years of neglect. But he also wasn’t stupid. Power was power, and he intended to use it. "I'll play your game. What do you want me to do?”Valerius’s lips curved into a genuine smile, the first Zachary had seen. "Excellent. The Prism Dragon Group will officially be under your control tomorrow.”“Tomorrow?” Zachary raised an eyebrow. “Seems a little… sudden, doesn’t it?”“Expediency is key in our world, Zachary. Hesitation is a luxury we cannot afford.” Valerius waved a hand dismissively. “Besides, tomorrow is the Group’s anniversary celebration. All the major players in Silverwood City will be there. It’s the perfect stage for your debut.”Zachary’s mind raced. A takeover, a pa
CHAPTER 4: GRAVE MISUNDERSTANDING
Zachary didn't have to turn around to know who they were.He recognized them instantly: Martha Vanes and her daughter, Chloe Vanes. Elise’s mother and younger sister. The women who had made his life a hell when he had been still been in that farce of a relationship with Elise.Martha marched up to the counter, ignoring Zachary as if he were a piece of furniture"I told your manager we were coming!" Martha barked at the clerk. "We want to purchase the Celestial Harmony Crystal immediately. It’s a congratulatory gift for Bennett Sterling."Chloe, spotting the back of Zachary standing at the counter, let out a disgusted huff. "Ugh, Mother, look at this. They’re letting beggars in to stare at the inventory now? This store has really gone downhill."Zachary slowly turned his head. The blood drained from Martha’s face, followed quickly by a mask of pure, unadulterated loathing."You?" she hissed, her eyes narrowing. "How are you still breathing? Bennett said he took out the trash."Zachary
CHAPTER 5: SUGAR MUMMY
"Young Lord," she said, her voice a clear, ringing bell that shattered the silence. "You summoned me. Is there a problem with the acquisition?"The manager’s heart stopped. He felt it sink down to his stomach with a sull thud.Zachary looked down at the manager, his eyes burning with a cold, predatory light."He thinks the card is a fake," Zachary said softly. "Why don't you explain it to him?”She cocked her head to the side, eyes going dark, " Did he now?” Her words were hushed, almost whispered but they hung in the air, thick with menace. The manager, still reeling from the shock of her arrival, stammered, "CEO Knowles? W-what can we do for you? I'm so very sorry we allowed you to stand in the presence of this buffoon!"Instead of answering, Seraphina's hand shot out, a swift, decisive motion that left a red imprint of her hand blooming on the manager's cheek. The sound of the slap echoed through the silent store."Insolent fool," Seraphina hissed, her eyes blazing with fury. "Do
CHAPTER 6: PARASITE
‘That little parasite,’ she thought. ‘He thinks he can just move on and forget about me? He thinks he can replace me with some other woman? He's wrong. He's going to regret this. I'll make sure of it.’Outwardly, she kept a cool facade as she spoke to her mother. "Don't worry, Mother. We have everything under control. After I attend the Prism Dragon Group's anniversary celebration with Bennett tomorrow, I'll make sure to find Zachary and teach him a lesson he won't soon forget.""But I’m telling you, Elise! He was very different," Martha argued. "He was arrogant. And that Knowles woman... She treated him like he was some god. It was disturbing.""It’s pathetic, That’s what it is," Elise countered, her voice smooth as silk. "Zachary was always a good dog. He probably found some lonely executive who likes a project. But a stray is still a stray, no matter who holds the leash."After a few more assurances from her mother, she hung up and turned to Bennett, who was nursing a glass of scot
CHAPTER 7: THE GATE
The shock on her face lasted only a heartbeat before it curdled into a mask of pure disdain. She stepped forward, the heels of her designer shoes clicking aggressively against the stone."You actually followed me here?" she hissed, her voice low and venomous. "I thought I made it clear enough when I dumped you. Is this your plan, Zachary? You find a nice suit, sneak onto the red carpet, and think I’m going to run back into your arms? You’ve come to beg for reconciliation, haven't you?"A shadow fell over her as Bennett Sterling stepped up beside her. He looked every bit the arrogant heir in a crisp white tuxedo, a glass of champagne in one hand and a look of amused cruelty in his eyes.Bennett let out a bark of laughter that drew the attention of the surrounding guests. "Look at this! The walking blood bag has ideas above his station. What’s the matter, Zachary? Did the dog pit not have enough room for your ego?"He stepped into Zachary’s space, the smell of expensive scotch and ma
CHAPTER 8: SOVEREIGN CARD
At the command , the other guards snapped out of their trance, their faces darkening as they drew their heavy batons, the steel sliding out with a series of ominous clicks. Then as one they all lunged. The air whistled as they swung their tactical batons, their faces contorted with the intent to maim. Bennett and Elise stood just outside the circle, their eyes wide with a jagged, frantic excitement."Don't hold back!" Bennett barked, his voice cracking with glee. "Break his legs! Let's see how tall he stands then!"Elise nodded sharply, her lips curled in a sneer that mirrored Bennett’s. "He asked for this. Make sure he remembers why he doesn't belong here."Around them, the crowd of socialites leaned in, a chorus of hushed mockery rising from the red carpet. "So reckless," a man in a silk shirt muttered, shaking his head. "To strike a guard at a Prism Dragon event... the boy has a death wish."Zachary stood at the center of the storm, his breathing slow and rhythmic. The encirclem
CHAPTER 9: HIERARCHY
Zachary nodded imperiously and sparing no reply for any of them walked passed the stunned forms of the guests and headed towards the lobby.Elise and Bennett stood frozen, disbelief etched on their faces. The scene that had just unfolded felt surreal, a glitch in their meticulously planned reality."That's… that's impossible," Elise stammered, her voice barely a whisper. "There's no way he could have…"Bennett scoffed, recovering his composure faster than his fiance. "Don't be ridiculous. He probably just got lucky. Some kind of fluke. He's still just Zachary." He glared at Zachary's retreating figure. "He won't get away with this."He turned back to Elise, his voice regaining its usual condescending tone. "Honestly, Elise, you used to date him?" Elise bristled. "Dont act like you didn't know it was a lie, Bennett. And for your information, he wasn't always like this." She paused, a flicker of annoyance crossing her face. "Besides, what does it matter? He's clearly out of his depth.
CHAPTER 10: CHAIRMAN
Bennett Sterling frowned at Zachary's amused face, stepping closer before speaking, “You really are something maggot.” he sneered, glaring daggers at the other male.Elise also walked closer and tilted her head in agreement, letting the chandelier light catch her earrings as she sized up Zachary. “You really think you belong here because you flashed some mysterious card?” Her tone dripped with contempt. “Newsflash, Zachary: smuggling yourself into a Prism Dragon Group gala doesn’t make you Bennett’s equal. You’re still trash playing dress-up.”Bennett chuckled. “Once I get the chairman’s signature, the Inkspire acquisition is sealed. I’ll toast the deal, and you can toast your own delusions—outside, where you belong.”Zachary’s voice stayed even. “The chairman won’t sign it.”“Cute,” Bennett snorted. “Did your tarot cards tell you that?”Guests nearby snickered.“He must think he is the chairman,” one man scoffed.“Maybe he forged the invitation like he forged his ego,” a woman added.
