Level 21
A thick cloud of black mist rose into the air, towering above the once beautiful lake. The aquatic creatures had been slain in less than a single minute. Micheal held the greatsword with two hands now, as the weapon had begun shaking violently, as though craving more enemies to slay. “Is this the Rampage enchantment?” He grinned. “Calm down, buddy, we've killed every single one of them!”The greatsword kept growling, however, and Micheal had to quickly dismiss it. He wiped imaginary sweat from his forehead and muttered, “That sword might become a problem. I need to be strong enough to tame it properly.”He had just gotten a feel of how powerful Regal-grade weapons were. It was nothing unlike Sharia’s blade. Almost as if the greatsword had a mind of its own.He heard strained footsteps behind him at that point, and he turned to look. Cassandra was panting heavily, her sword chipped in so many places. Sweat dripped down her forehead, and she looked very battered. “Are you okay?” Mich
Battle Formation
Eleven hunters for such a level. They must be pretty weak… Micheal judged inwardly as he stared across the marble field, at the supposed leader of the group. He had his hands tucked behind him, appearing casual and unassuming. Cassandra was different. She was starting to panic, upon seeing the size of the group and the scary looking men in their formation. She whispered to Micheal, “We can still turn back.”“Don't you trust me? It'll be fine.” Micheal smiled behind his mask. Soon, the two groups met in the center of the field. A tense wind wafted by, and only after a full minute, did the huge man speak. “Greetings, fellow hunters. That's quite a small hunting party you got there. Aren't you afraid of an ambush? You must be quite strong if you can challenge this level with only two members.”Micheal inwardly sneered. He didn't fail to notice the hidden threat in the man's statement. Rather than respond, he glanced at Cassandra instead. The lady snapped out of her daze. She chuckled
Tower Thieves
Explosion after explosion rang out in that cave. The hunting party Micheal had met up with seemed pleasantly capable. They did not break under pressure, and their Guardians were especially doing terrific jobs. Their stalwart nature kept the monstrous bats at bay, and Brandon was particularly skilled at handling that mallet. Micheal jumped backwards when one of the bats swooped down for a ferocious bite. He jerked his hand backwards, before swinging with a little strength. However, he made sure to make it seem like he was exerting himself greatly. Cassandra came to his side then, panting heavily like she had just completed a run around the entire floor. “This… this is insane!” She coughed. “I've never seen so many profanities before.”“Haha!” Brandon's boisterous laughter boomed from behind. “Don't falter! When Profanities move in swarms, it only means they are on the weaker side individually.”“Easy for you to say!” Cassandra activated her skill and maneuvered the formation of Hunt
Art Of Plundering
The underground cave quickly descended into chaos. The hunting party had split into two groups. One group was trying to track down the lady from the Phantom class, who had seemingly blended with the environment. As for the other group, their eyes flickered with malice as they slowly closed in on Micheal. Micheal chuckled and adjusted the mask on his face. He said with a smile, “You know, deep down, I was indeed hoping you were one of the scumbags who robbed people of their hard-earned rewards.”He reached into his pocket space and slowly retrieved a dagger with a jagged edge and a blood-red glint to it. Sharia’s blade. Brandon's eyes narrowed. He held out his hand and said to his companions, “Don't come any closer. That's an Epic-grade weapon. It most definitely has an enchantment.”“I'll personally tear this arrogant fool limb from limb.” He grinned and cracked his knuckles. “Boss, are you about to use that?” A lady asked from behind. Brandon nodded. “Naturally! I should fight an
Item Ownership
Micheal crouched and regarded the assortment of items with a smile. There were runestones, basic and rare grade weapons, moonstones, and a few utility items. It was definitely a good haul, Micheal however, set his sights on the Epic-grade hammer Brandon had used. He grabbed it and weighed it around for a little bit, before claiming ownership of the item via the system. “What enchament does it possess?” Cassandra asked curiously. “It has a 70% chance of releasing a shockwave when swung.” Micheal answered after checking the weapon’s details. After a moment of contemplation, he said, “I'll give you Sharia’s Blade, and keep this.”“W-what?!” The lady's eyes bulged. “That blade that took the leader of that hunting party down with a single cut?” Micheal chuckled. “Brandon was weak. It usually takes three cuts to fall the monsters I once battled.”Cassandra’s mouth gaped, and she stood there for the longest time, unsure of what to say. After a while, she shook her head, “No— no, I can't
Declaration
Micheal and Cassandra returned to the mansion. Upon entering the foyer, they heard a clattering noise from the kitchen. Micheal went on high alert. He tossed his mask aside and immediately rushed up the twin staircase, heading straight for the source of the noise. Cassandra was right behind. They barged through the double doors and saw the place in a mess. Kara was on the floor, her body stained with flour. Frying pans and pots littered the aisle, their contents overturned. It was obvious that she had been trying to make some food. Micheal's mouth gaped slightly. He looked at Cassandra, and the lady covered her mouth, suppressing a laugh. “Kara,” It was only until he spoke that the little girl became aware of their presence. She flinched, springing to her feet instantly. “Sorry! Sorry! I'll clean up the mess right away…”“Kara, it's me. Calm down.” Micheal slowly approached her. The girl slowly raised her head, and her eyes widened instantly. “Oh, Micheal! Sorry about all this… T
Vanguard
As soon as Micheal stepped forward, a fierce howl tore through the street. A large wolf-life Profanity jumped out of a burning building to bar him from advancing. Micheal smiled mockingly at the creature. “Father intimidating aura for a creature that's terribly weak.”The profanity let out another fierce howl, but Micheal was already upon it. He jumped into the air, gathering strength in both arms and yelling, before descending with all his might. The blow equal to the power of a cannon shook the entire street, causing furnaces to flare and cracks to run along building walls. The ground fractured and collapsed inward, and the Profanity that had been standing there was reduced to a puddle of blood. [YOU HAVE KILLED A PROFANITY: VILE LARGE-WOLF!] Micheal whistled as he took in the damage. “I've been meaning to test out my full strength. Since this is a floor no one uses, I can cause as much damage as I want to.” He chuckled and quickly took a glance at his system. His eyes widened
Clueless Micheal
[SEVERANCE] [SKILL TYPE: ACTIVE] [SKILL INFORMATION: FOR A DURATION OF 3 MINUTES, DESIGNATED TARGET WILL BE EXTRICATED FROM EXTERNAL EFFECTS SUCH AS BUFFS, DEBUFFS, HEALING] Micheal read the text with careful eyes. After reading, he raised his head in thought. Designated target? Do I count as a target? Could I, potentially, use the skill on myself? It might come in handy when I have to fight those Priests Cassandra spoke of… The boy cleared his throat and sighed dejectedly. “I haven't even had the opportunity to test out any of my other skills. I might have to set other matters aside for now and head to the highest floors. If I have skills like this, there's no doubt that others possess other insidious ones too.”“Outcast Law” was a skill that increased his stats whenever he was fighting without allies. “Divide” was a skill that could isolate any designated target in battle, locking them in an invisible dome that would prevent others from interfering in the battle. It was someth
Sharp Presence
Later that afternoon, Micheal and Cassandra once again bade farewell to Kara. As they were heading to higher floors and could spend longer than expected, Micheal made sure to prepare everything she could need for the next three days. They set out afterwards and proceeded into the heart of the city. On the way, Cassandra suddenly said, “Ah, could you accompany me to my guild headquarters real quick? I haven't made my weekly submission.”“Weekly submission? What's that?” The lady adjusted the backpack she carried and explained, “Well, since hunters get paid weekly by their various guilds, they, in turn, have to make their contribution. So, we grow our guilds by submitting precious materials.”“I see,” Micheal adjusted his mask. “Sure, but make it quick.” Cassandra nodded. She led him to the guild headquarters and they walked into an unfamiliar lobby. Unlike the guild association Micheal had previously visited with Cassandra, this one was smaller, as it did not encompass all the existi
A Friend From The Old World
Despite Cassandra calling to him, Micheal did not answer. His gaze was dead locked on the girl seated in a corner, and his feet carried him towards her without thinking. His figure cast a shadow over the blonde girl, causing her to look up with a terrible grimace. “What do you want? Please, go away.” She said in that tiny voice Micheal still remembered like it was just yesterday. He had originally wondered why she did not recognize him, before remembering that he was currently wearing a mask. And a cloak, for that matter. His true appearance had been completely concealed.Micheal contemplated revealing his identity, and at the same time, wondered if it was best to leave the girl be. After all, it wasn't like they'd been friends or anything. Amy had simply kept to herself back in Winchester. She did not necessarily help him, but she did not treat him terribly either. It did not occur to him that he had been standing there for more than a dozen seconds already. Other hunters in the ha
