Amy Randall
Amy turned on the shower, allowing a hot sprinkle to wash over her entire body. The fatigue, frustration and simmering rage that had accumulated for weeks were instantly washed away. The floor of the bathtub was stained with a dark substance that resembled soot, courtesy of the Profanities she'd been busy slaying. As she washed up, her mind drifted to a few moments ago. Micheal. Of all the people she would've expected to see, she never once would've thought of him. Not that she didn't care, quite the contrary, in fact. But because she had long thought him to be dead. Yet, now, fate had somehow reunited her with the person she once had a huge crush on. Still do, apparently. Naturally, due to her personality, she did a good job of hiding it, back before the apocalypse. Whenever he was being bullied by the other class members, she would have the grinding desire to stand up for him. To do something. However, she never had the courage. Amy had been a big coward in the past. So, the only
Party Of The Exiled
“You want to get your revenge, right?” Amy's voice tore through the silence in the grand living room. The little sister and the lady opened their mouths in alarm, shocked at the turn of events. Micheal was silent for a while, though his expression already conveyed his thoughts. “That's right,” he said eventually. “From what you mentioned back then, you seem to be aware of the guilds they belong to. I'll need that information. Of course, your help will be well rewarded.”Amy shook her head. “I don't need any reward. I'm doing this because I want to. Those guys are an awful bunch, and they need to be stopped.”Micheal raised a surprised brow. He leaned forward and said, “You don't seem to be saying this because of what they did to me. What did you see, Amy?”The girl strangely fell silent, her gaze darting across the carpeted floor. She hugged her knees tighter and muttered, “Something terrible. Something very terrible. I really don't want to remember it, but I had to decline all furt
The Shopkeeper
The next day, Micheal had the team head over to a store that sold gear. If they were going to be heading to upper floors, he needed to prepare them. Cassandra already possessed an Epic-grade weapon, so she was good to go. Amy, on the other hand, needed good equipment. “On that note,” Micheal spoke up as they approached the shop on the intersection of the street. “What class do you belong to, Amy?”“Hm?” The girl raised her head. “Oh, uh, Paladin.”Micheal nodded tersely. “We have a stealth-based hunter, and a frontline hunter. Logically, we need a Guardian and Arcanist to have even a semblance of a party.”Cassandra glanced over at him. She asked, “What about Clerics? Clerics are very important.”Micheal responded with a slight shake of his head, “Not necessarily. The monsters drop Rune of Restoration. As long as we don't lose a limb, the tunes can work pretty fine to heal damage. So our priorities should be those classes I mentioned.”He then said to Amy, “Your rank is ‘Marked’, rig
30th Floor
After the introduction, Micheal felt even more confident in whatever he was about to acquire for Amy. Darrion showed them around, explaining the amazing items in his possession. Finally, he reached a section and gestured to a longsword displayed behind glass. The sword had a hilt that resembled white jade, and runes ran along the sword’s surface. Amy walked forward, as though entranced. She placed her hand on the glass and muttered, “What's the name?”“White Vincent,” Darrion answered, then chuckled. “You feel a beckoning towards it, don't you? The Vincent possesses the simple enchantment of returning to its user. It's one of the few Epic-grade weapons that have sentience.”Micheal's eyebrows twitched. A sentient sword? Just like Malliad? That makes the White Vincent extremely impressive! I should definitely get this one for her…He turned to Amy and asked, “Do you like it?”“Like it? I love it! It's… beautiful.” Amy responded in a daze. She seemed completely bewitched by the blade
Fort Of Sand
“This guild belongs to Devon’s father.” Hearing Amy's words, Micheal did not react in an exaggerated manner. He simply reached into his inventory and counted 150 Moonstones, then handed them over to the guards. The men, garbed in full defensive armour plates, regarded him for a while, before saying;“What's with you? Trying to act all mysterious, eh?”“Matter of fact, masked figures aren't allowed in. What if you're a spy from another guild?”Micheal maintained his silence. Cassandra spoke up in his stead, “That's not fair. We already paid. And, why would we be spies if two of us aren't covering our faces? “Doesn't matter!” The guard bellowed. “The person either takes off their mask, or only the two of you will be allowed inside the fort. Out here, our word is law! If you don't like it, you can find your way to another fort.”“Good luck doing that.” The other guard snickered, and both of them burst out laughing.Micheal watched the men with disdainful eyes. ‘It's this same pride. Settling In
Pointed ears? Is that a human? When did we begin to grow elf-like ears? Micheal's gaze landed on the scantily clad woman on the stairs, his eyes narrowing behind the mask. The woman on the stairs seemed to be looking at him too, so Micheal retrieved a few Moonstones and placed them on the table without a word. The men instantly ignored their companion’s plight and sat back down. Following that, he gestured for Cassandra and Amy to follow him. They approached the woman on the staircase and Micheal spoke in a deep voice, “We'd like a room.”The woman's gaze glossed over all three of them, lingering on Cassandra for a moment longer. She nodded with a coy smile and said, “Alright, weary travelers. I'll show you to the inn.”The woman descended the steps and guided them to a back door. As they walked, Amy and Cassandra glanced at each other. They too, had noticed the woman's ears. It was definitely unnatural, but they kept quite out of consideration of being rude. Unfortunately, Micheal
The Whispering Forest
After a good night's rest, the trio set out to slay Profanities. Outside, the moon was almost five times brighter than it had been when they arrived prior. Micheal felt that since the tower floors were usually stuck in a certain time, the moon’s brightness was an indication of night and day. That was his guess, at least. The radiance of the moon bathed the city, giving it a faint glimmer that contrasted with the glowing lanterns littering the city streets. Micheal, Cassandra and Amy followed the same path through the ever-crowded Bazaar and returned to the gate. The guards from last night weren't present there, so they did not encounter any hassle when leaving. “How far away is the nearest monster zone?” Cassandra asked. Amy checked the map on the system’s interface. She glanced north and said, “Not that far, actually. There are a couple of spawn points in the Whispering Forest.”The Whispering Forest surrounded the Fort of Sand, making up one of the regions of the 30th floor. Mi
Worm Of Midnight Sands
The blade met quite a resistance, as the worm’s hide was incredibly sturdy. However, it was ultimately no match for Micheal's strength. The boy exerted more pressure, and soon, Sharia’s Blade sank into the creature. Then, he leapt away in time, wary of the corrosive black blood. Another mind-numbing screech tore through the forest. The sand worm thrashed around, its tail striking sand as it prepared to dive back under ground. “Oh, no, you don't!” Micheal skillfully summoned Fallen Hammer. As the weapon materialized in his hand, he jumped into the air. Strength poured into his limbs in great amounts, and he descended with the force of a freight train. “Die!!”The hammer struck the worm’s writhing mass, and almost immediately, a shockwave sent it flying across the clearing. The impact had Micheal staggering a few steps back, too, but he soon regained his footing. As for the creature which refused so desperately to die, it had curled up against a tree at the other side of the cleari
Epic Armour
Micheal awoke to the sound of chirping birds and rustling leaves. He opened his eyes slowly, feeling a strange weight pressing on him. When he tried sitting up, he hit his head on a sturdy object.“Ouch,” Micheal groaned on reflex even if the pain was little to none. He blinked multiple times, sending back the last veils of fatigue over his head. It was then that he looked around at where he was. He was laying underneath a tree root that somehow twisted to form something of a protective layer over him. Not only that, but he was entirely naked, his dignity merely protected by what seemed to be Amy's hoodie. His mask lay close to him, carefully placed on leaves. He heard the voices of the girl just then, “Hey…”Micheal raised his head. The girl was seated atop a tree branch, her legs swinging freely, as she overlooked him. “Hey…” Micheal chuckled and dryly. He rubbed the back of his head, feeling a throbbing pain, and asked, “Where's Cassandra? What happened?”Amy seemed to hesitate
A Lady's Resolve
Cassandra appeared along the path, beads of sweat lining her forehead. The backpack she fastened to her back seemed to be draining her of a lot of strength. She jumped over a few twisting roots and arrived at the spot she had left the group. Micheal exhaled and lowered his guard. He and Amy stepped out, their sudden appearance startling the lady. Cassandra frowned at Michael's appearance at first, then her expression quickly grew it one of disbelief, followed by frustration.“What was the whole point of heading back to the city?!” She exclaimed in protest. Micheal gave a wry chuckle and apologized. He then explained, “I realized I had acquired an Epic-grade armor as a reward for slaying that abominable thing.”“Sorry,” Amy said too, as they had drawn lots to decide who would head back to the Fort of Sand. Cassandra shook her head with a sigh. “It's fine,” she muttered, then placed her backpack on the soft grass. Following that, she retrieved a dark cloak and handed it to Micheal.“
